Hill Top first opened its doors in 1993 as a pick-your-own berry farm, and, in 1998, went on to become the fifty-first winery to open in Virginia. Our winery provides visitors with the unique opportunity to taste the "true to the fruit" wines and historically-accurate honey meads. Handcrafted in small batches, all 32 varieties of fruit wines and meads are made and bottled on the farm.
These delicious "other than grape" wines are made from various fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, plums, apples, peaches, elderberries, cantaloupes, and many others. The goal at Hill Top is to honor and preserve the fruit's natural flavor well enough that you can identify each fruit when you taste the wine.

Had an amazing first time experience here last week. We came in for a birthday wine tasting and left with 6 bottles of amazing wines. They have a great selection of tasty wines and a beautiful atmosphere. We had an awesome friendly and knowledge host named Mike. He not only gave great service but was also personable and gave great advice on our future wine tour adventures. We will be returning. Thank you for being awesome!!

Fantastic find. If you only stop at one place, stop here! Situated off the main highway, Hill Top stands a part from the other distilleries, wineries, and breweries for multiple reasons aside from the physical. Immediately it is that besides wine, they also offer (and their widest offering) meads. If you are not familiar with the fermented honey beverage, donβt be scared away because neither were we. Each of the meads is made with local ingredients from the property and each has their own unique taste. This brings up the second point: all wines are made from that specific fruit. So if you are

Went once and was instantly sold. The view is amazing, the wine paired perfectly with the available snack options (particularly the smoked salmon), and the goats kept on property are very friendly (you can feed them and I highly recommend doing so).
I'm already planning on coming back and I live in Philadelphia, so that should tell you just how amazing this place is.

Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery is a berry farm that became a winery in the Rockfish River Valley offering fruit wine and authentically crafted Mead with an abundance of spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their cozy patio is a great places to relax and enjoy the "fruits of their labor!"
P.s. The "Hunter's Moon" Mead tastes like Autumn in your mouth!ππ

The wine samples were awesome possibly the best selection of wines I've ever had. They varied from sweet to dry, and they grow their own ingredients or source from local farmers. The service was divine very attentive, the owner joined us at our table and talked with us about the winery. Overall it was an experience you don't want to miss worth the drive!

Cannot recommend enough! Friendliest staff we've encountered at any winery/brewery. So incredibly accommodating and fun to chat with. This trip we had our kids along and they spent the entire time petting the goats. Tons of outdoor seating, which we prefer. Wine was delicious and plenty of options with wine, meads and cocktails/slushies. They mentioned they have blackberry picking at some point during July and August, which we will definitely be back for. Plenty of meat and cheese options available as well. Highly recommend!!!

Has a very nice selection of wines and plenty of outdoor seating. The view sitting outside is amazing where you can see the fields several miles away. I would say the highlight of the trip was the melon wine, it was the first melon wine I had ever tried, and it was amazing. The final few minutes of the drive is on a very narrow roads I recommend going very slow and watching for oncoming traffic.

Absolutely incredible experience, I cannot recommend highly enough! The staff were wonderful, very happy to explain the wines and meads, while also giving us the space to enjoy our flights and glasses together. Sitting outside with gorgeous weather only enhanced the experience. Socially distanced and very clean, you will not regret visiting Hill Top!
