Lafayette Market
Like the city of Pontiac, the Lafayette Market is a story of growth and transformation. We began as a fresh-food market, caf & corporate caterer. We have since grown into a handcrafted coffee shop, artisanal caf and full service catering & events planner.

Lafayette Market opened in 2012 when Pontiac-based developers Kyle & Brent Westberg renovated the historic Sears Store, a 1921 Albert Kahn inspired building, into what you see today; a caf, event space, residential lofts, and neighborhood gym.Lafayette Market is committed to the city of Pontiac and to upholding Metro-Detroit's longstanding food culture.

We are proud to partner with other like-minded food proprietors and serve Crust Bakery Breads, Avon Doughnuts, Great Lakes Coffee and Eli Tea.
From planning to execution, in your home or anywhere in Metro Detroit, our full service catering services let you be the hero without lifting a finger. Came here for a quick cup of coffee and ended up grabbing some avocado toast which was amazing!!!! Barista was super friendly in helping us pick up some coffee and food and the atmosphere of the cafe was warm vibrant. This may be my new study spot for classes!!! Great first experience. Will be back!!!!

Holy. Cow. I had Lafayette Market cater my wedding this past Friday. Not only was Julie SUPER patient, answering every single one of my annoying questions, she truly made sure I was all set for the big day. The food was OUTSTANDING. I am still receiving texts from my guests asking who catered and how they can get their hands on some more of their delicious food. Tony Aja, the head chef, is an amazing person and truly takes pride in his creations. He is the best chef!!! We went with strolling stations, the theme being different foods in Detroit. From the Greektown kebabs, to the Hamtramck pierogis

LaFayette Market catered our wedding, and they did an amazing job. We were given a lot of options and chose the very unique and cool "Streets of Detroit" strolling dinner. We got SO many compliments on the food. The service was top notch-- accommodating us at every step along the way. The prices were very fair and when there was a snag in the budget, Julie did a great job putting a plan together to make it all work and come together. Thanks Lafayette Market for a great night!

Normally, I have great service but not today. Just order my food and everyone one that ordered after me gotten their food. I have been waiting for 20 minutes for a sandwich. I finally overheard the runner say, “oh, we just found the order!” No apologies to to me waiting or update me that there is a delay in my order. Now, when I leave here, I will not be able to eat my lunch. Bad business!!!!

I just had Lafayette Market cater my company picnic. To stay they went above and beyond is an understatement! It was not an easy venue to navigate with all their equipment and food. They worked so hard to get everything perfect! They did an exceptional job and even with all the obstacles, they did it with a smile! Everyone was so accommodating and cheerful. The food was fantastic and spot on. I will continue to use them for future events!

Pour over coffee is 5/5 and relatively inexpensive. Their bathroom is clean. They have tables. I had an egg salad sandwich there once. There is always this one guy sitting in the corner in his computer. Pretty sure he's writing a screenplay.

Five stars are simply not enough! My daughter and I love to grab lunch at The Lafayette Market: good prices, good atmosphere, nice people, amazing ... fresh ... beautifully prepared ... delicious food. When it came time to choose her wedding reception venue, The Lafayette Market was the perfect choice. Vintage building: cool urban chic space. Ample and convenient parking. Julie worked with us on menu, bar, floor plan, staffing, timing, and pricing to create the perfect wedding reception experience for my daughter, her husband, and their guests. Our compliments to the chefs ... always excellent

Best Cuban sandwich I have ever enjoyed! Each ingredient certainly gourmet. Well executed, all around. Some may not enjoy the semi self serve style of the establishment, but is nifty for lunch on the go.

Really good hipster cafe. The food items are unique and delicious, with new burger and salad specials every week and home-style soup every day. The baristas are excellent at their craft and if anything isn't to your liking they'll happily remake or replace it for you. The cure and the early bird are really great breakfast items. It can get really busy, and the crowds are kinda snooty, but other than that it's really great. Offers catering.

Awesome breakfast and lunch. They have great food and an amazing open seating area. They also sell craft beer here and different types of soda. You can get dessert and delicious fresh made baked pie and brownies. Try the breakfast burrito or the turkey sandwich. They both are to die for, and if you are feeling daring get the brownies for dessert you'll thank me later!

We worked with Julie to plan our wedding food. Lafayette market managed to work with us on our desired food choices and budget. They were easy to work with, relaxed and professional. All our food was delicious and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it! Some even said it was the best wedding food they'd ever eaten. They worked with my difficult food allergies and took that into care and consideration which I appreciated immensely! They helped in other aspects of the wedding and helped me think things through and stay organized. I appreciate everything they did for us. Thank you Julie and Lafayette

I want to like this place, but every time I go, there's something that is off. I order online a lot, but more than half of the time, my food isn't ready and they can't find my order. Consistency is lacking. I often order the same thing, and every time I get it, it's a little different. Portion sizes are small for the price. I'm happy there are options in Pontiac, but it just seems like they are trying to be too fancy for the area, and the quality isn't on par with the pricing.

Awesome sandwiches and coffee! With a different burger, salad, and ramen bowl every week, the menu never gets old.
In addition to the cafe, they have a great and very unique beer and wine selection. The beverage manager is very knowledgeable and will not steer you wrong.

Wow... This place is a hidden jem in Pontiac.

Don't need to drive all the way to Birmingham for high end sandwiches... They make it better here without the high end prices.

Get a little boutique shopping in as well.

Bet kept secret in Pontiac.

Clean, comfortable, relaxing environment. I'll return to this place.

This place is very good. They have nice iced tea and most importantly, great sandwiches (AND THEY DELIVER!) ... The Tree Hugger is my favorite. My friends tried the Reuben which they loved as well as the Saginaw, which they also liked.

The kale salads are awesome & the customer service is great. And don't forget to try the in-house made chips... Great and not too salty. :)

I held my sister's baby shower here this past weekend and everyone had such a nice time!

Food: We went with a simple menu; soup, salad and sandwiches, but the food was anything but simple. The presentation was great and the taste was even better! I asked for the soup to be a version of a popular restaurants soup and the Market's version blew the original away! I was so impressed that the Chef took the time out to taste the original before recreating it and with the final product.

Space: Because of the large windows and high ceilings, the space was so open and airy and far nicer

Since finding this little gem, we have visited here quite often. The food and coffee in their cafe are excellent! It is a small market, but I have been able to find pretty much anything we are looking for. We usually come here for our meat purchases as the meat looks very good and tastes good as well. It's fun to come here, grab a coffee and watch the traffic on Saginaw.

I agree, the hours are not the best. For some reason we always get here an hour before they close and most of the meat is put away. There is always someone in the meat department though and they are more than willing
