Valley Yacht Club (VYC) was formed by a group of 45 recreational power boaters at Murphy's Boat Yard in Shelton, CT. The goal of the charter members were to provide an affordable and safe, family-oriented atmosphere for its members. The membership began a long and arduous search on the Housatonic River for a permanent home.
They chose our present Milford, CT site and purchased the property in July and November of 1968. It took six years to obtain approvals and permits. Final approval was granted in June. 1974. They immediately started the "Fill Project" of the present 90 x 400 foot building site.
