The New Haven Yacht Club is a co-operative of sailors and sailing-oriented folks. We are an informal group dedicated to helping each other spend as much time on the water as possible. We enjoy daysailing, racing, cruising, and social events. Boats are located on moorings or drysailed. We love sailing!
Services
The New Haven Yacht Club is sailing without pretense. Located in the Morris Cove section of New Haven, the club is only minutes from Interstate 95, where members can raise their sails right on the mooring and be off enjoying a late afternoon sail without ever needing to start a motor. Membership is open to all individuals who enjoy sailing in an informal atmosphere.
The New Haven Yacht Club is accepting new members for the 2021 Sailing Season. We strive to keep our fees as low as possible which makes membership and boat fees considerably less than expenses at local marinas. 2021 annual dues for regular members are $600.00. We also have Associate and Young Adult memberships.
Racing these days at the club is a pretty relaxed affair. It is really about enjoying a day on the water with friends, soaking up some sun and having a cool beverage. Our club races are normally followed by one of our famous 'Sailabrations' under the club pavilion. We anchored out past the yacht club for a while and they offered water taxi service to us anytime we needed it. One time we didn't ask and instead decided to give them a break and row in. About halfway in they motored past and asked us if we wanted a tow the rest of the way! They also let us use the showers and restrooms on multiple occasions. I was thoroughly impressed with their hospitality. My only regret is that we didn't have the chance to pick up a mooring and stay with them long-term. A hidden gem, for sure.

NHYC is a small club that provides an excellent family, racing, or cruising experience. There's nothing better than being in a protected Cove with immediate access to the harbor and beyond. Adds an hour of potential real sailing time to every time we're out on our old Cal 25! No long motor down a river or channel.
And amazing sunsets? Definitely. The club faces west, for beautiful natural displays after a day on the water.
