The Club's earliest members were active people living in interesting times. The Merritt Parkway is, indeed, named after our second Vice Commodore whose Commodore, Henry K. McHarg, built a railroad town in Texas that is still called Stamford. Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails.

The Club's earliest members were active people living in interesting times. The Merritt Parkway is, indeed, named after our second Vice Commodore whose Commodore, Henry K. McHarg, built a railroad town in Texas that is still called Stamford. Like hundreds of members who followed them, the founders preserved and enhanced the Club, both for their contemporaries and for generations to come.
The entrance through the Stamford breakwater is well marked, with the federal channel proceeding generally due north (at approximately 011 magnetic) from the middle of the sea wall. Observing range markers and lights should keep you in the channel. The Stamford Yacht Club mooring field is to the east of the main channel near Nun 10, with private markers leading to the Stamford Yacht Club dock.
Stamford Yacht Club is a private membership organization dedicated to the social and recreational interests of its member families since 1890. It is also a long-standing and contributing member of the community.

The Club and its members participate in many local, regional and national organizations governing and promoting the Club's key pursuits of sailing, tennis, platform tennis, and aquatics, and is proud to be a founding member of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.It is with this in mind that we have made portions of this site open to all visitors.
The Cows Trophy Race, first sailed in 1955 and won by Bill Ziegler on Bounding Home, is a wonderful race absolutely unique to the Stamford Yacht Club. It consists of an indeterminate number of legs all beginning and ending at Cows Bell R32. In the list of winners you will recognize many of the great Club boats and Club yachtsmen.
Frostbiting is a great opportunity to stay active on the water sailing JY15's through the winter months! There are many ways for SYC members to get involved-racing, race committee/chase boat operations, on the water video and photography, or general program organization. If you wish to race, please register for the 2021-2022.

Took a ride on the Sound with friends. SYC took us to the boat on the water and gave us a ride back with no wait and were courteous. The facilities at SYC looked great

I grew up down the street and being stuck at home due to covid has made me extra nestolgic. I loved swimming, diving, sailing, and playing tennis there every summer. Today is my parent's 40th anniversary, but I miss eating there frequently on Sundays. There was an older (Austrian I think?) waiter that my family became close with over the years. I am terrible with names, but I think his began with a G. I hope he is doing well!

It was alright! Aviance was really breathtaking. Which utilized flowers n boats in the background, for a lawn birthday celebration under the tent. Really beautiful!

Beautiful place. High end service and delicious food. My office had an event and presentation and the amenities were top tier. Just a real classy place with nice people having a great time. I'd say I'd be back, but I don't think under normal circumstances I am cut from the right cloth, as I am a low class peasant.

Visited from another yacht club and was disappointed that we were not allowed to use the pool. On top of that, it was handled poorly - after allowing us into the pool, the pool boy was sent back in to tell us to leave even as we were swimming. We had to gather our belongings and leave immediately looking like we did something wrong. Perhaps a manager could have explained the rule politely and given us a pass for that one day or at least given us time to dry off. We visit many yacht clubs with which our club has reciprocity and this was the first time the pool was off limits.

Love this place. I work here for events very often for a client of mine. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are always clean. Perfect for a wedding or other special occasion.
