We are a family owned business, managed and operated by two sisters, Jennifer and Caroline. We opened this location in 2006, but have been in business since the 1980's. The original Minia's Bake Shop was opened in 1989 by our parents, Ben and Minia Ayala. It was also located in Newark. Before opening in 1989, our mom started the business out of her home taking orders from family and friends.
She continued building relationships with her customers and the community and had a successful business for many years. The land was eventually sold for housing in 1998. Many remember us as the two little girls behind the counter. While managing the storefront we also learned the art of cake baking and decorating.

Congratulations on your engagement! Thank you for thinking of us for your special event. We hope we can answer all your questions and help ease the process of ordering your wedding cake. You have the choice of adding piping design to the cake or leave it with a smooth texture. We offer scrollwork, pillowtop, dotted, horizontal texture, rustic texture.
When inquiring to order we always start with some basic information to help assist you according to your needs for your event. DESIGN: we can show you designs we have done in your theme or discuss if we can replicate one. PAYMENT: we will always communicate the cost of your order and explain payment requirements.

Recently got my daughter's birthday cake from minia's and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The cake looked beautiful and tasted really delicious. I have to mention that their whip cream icing tastes really good and the sweetness is not overpowering.. it is just right! The ordering process was very smooth too. I just emailed Jennifer a couple of photos about how I wanted the cake to be and they have delivered exactly what I had described. Their pricing reasonable too. I would've never known about this place if it wasn't for social media and foodie groups. The storefront is tucked away behind an industrial area. During the pandemic, I wanted order a Spider-man cake for a small party and reached out to Minia's.
The ordering process was so smooth and easy. I sent some pictures and colors and Jennifer sent me a menu and some samples of what she could achieve for the cake design I wanted. It was so reassuring as a customer. I've had a bad experience where the baker couldn't deliver and didn't tell me, and the cake came out awful.

This is a wonderful bakery my daughter in law found to make Frozen cupcakes for our now 5 year olds birthday. She loves loves loves Frozen and told me that she is positive that the people going to make her cupcakes personally know Queen Elsa. Yup she said that alright. Such craftsmanship from these bakers that my granddaughter and all 20 of her closest friends ate these gems all up. I did not get one but I was so happy to get them for her and watch the joy on their faces. They are certainly worth the visit. I will be back for my grandsons birthday in a couple of months. #AGreatFind

We recently ordered a cake for our baby shower(gender reveal) from Minia’s bake shop and they delivered a beautiful two tier cake. They only do tastings for weddings but they were super considerate and made an exception for us.
Their tasting cupcakes were so delicious. For the actual cake, they made sure all our requirements were satisfied by constantly being in communication with my husband through email. And taste is the best. They don’t do fondants, which we loved since it becomes too sweet and overpowers the cake.
You can go ahead and order cake from Minia’s without any hesitation.

If you want someone to make your dream cake have Jennifer she did an amazing job at making a wedding cake we requested, she answered all our questions. When we went to go and pick up the cake it was nicely packaged it was protected! Got to the hall safely. She was very friendly and nice. The cake was stunning! Better than I expected. The details on the cake were wow! You can tell she loves doing what she does! And the cake tasted so good! Great bakery that provides delicious cakes and wonderful customer service. I ordered my wedding cake from Minia's as a suggestion from one of my co-workers, and I'm so happy that I did! The ordering process was very easy (I called them, filled out an email questionnaire, then came in to pick out the decoration style). The cake turned out beautiful and delicious. As per tradition we saved the top tier for our first wedding anniversary (stored in the freezer) and it was still delicious. I absolutely love that they use whipped cream rather than overly sweet options.

It feels like I'm just piling on here with another 5 star review, but all of those 5 star reviews are pretty justified! The cupcakes my wife ordered looked as good as the photos that everyone else has posted. We were joking that the kids eating the cupcakes won't be stopping to appreciate the artistry, haha, but they'll just enjoy the delicious goodness when they stuff their faces. Just to reinforce what some others have said..
Parking: plan on a few extra minutes if you miss the driveway into the shopping plaza, and also for driving amongst the identically styled buildings.

I was so pleased with the beautiful cake for my mom's birthday. The ordering process was so easy and personalized. The cake design is exquisite and holds up very well. Their cakes are tall and feed more than you think. This was the easiest cake pick up since the cake was boxed and ready to go literally all their front door. Looking forward to ordering future cakes!

Minia's is amazing they saved my mamas 68th birthday. The person I originally ordered from ended up cancelling 3 days before my moms little family celebration. Minia's was so accommodating I ordered 2 days before was able to pick cake flavors & design and they followed through flawlessly. The cake itself was a show stopper and tasted even better. This is a long over due review! The most amazing cupcakes I have ever tasted - my fiancé and I threw a party to reveal our bridesmaids and groomsmen. I was ordering last minute I believe it was just the day before and They were still able to accommodate my cupcake order. Great customer service! The lady over the phone helped me pick the frosting color so that it would match the decorations I had. Truly such a great experience! I will definitely continue to use them in the future and highly recommend to all.

One star is too much for her . This lady does not response to calls or emails I order a cake with her we had the cake for my son‘s second birthday the cake was half way broken falling a part it was melting down when I contacted her that same day she did not respond to me and when I called the store no respond don’t buy cake from her I feel like she fell off five star by her family or friends .

We got a chocolate mousse cake; tasted really good. Perfect sponge and mousse layers, the decoration was great too. The cream ruffles were simply amazing. We had friends going for second servings, saying a lot about how good it was. Definitely going back to get another cake soon.
While everything on the cake was amazing, the base was super flimsy. It was a challenge to move the cake around given the thin corrugated base. Hope they start using thicker boards soon.

I love this place. They are very talented in their designs and it always exceeds my expectations. I've ordered some last minute cakes and they've always got them done on time. If they are unable to they will let you know so that you're not wasting your time. The cakes aren't overly sweet and there are so many different delicious flavors to choose from. They do not use fondant which I don't mind at all because fondant doesn't taste good anyway lol.
