Dr. Okah "Justin" Anyokwu received his medical degree from the College of Health Sciences at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife Nigeria. He then moved to the United Kingdom to attend the Royal College of Psychiatry to specialize in Psychiatry. Upon completion of his education in Europe, he moved to the United States and completed his residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
We specialize in interventional and integrative medical care for treatment-resistant, complex developmental, and co-morbid psychiatric disorders in child, adolescent, and adult mental health care. This includes patients with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders, and severe persistent mental illness.
Addiction is a disease of the brain. Emerging treatments make it possible to eliminate addictive cravings, change negative thought patterns and live a meaningful and purposeful life. Suboxone treatment, only prescribed once opiate withdrawal symptoms ensue, is often used in combination with other recommended therapies to help reduce opioid cravings and symptoms of withdrawal.

Well I just want to start out by saying my therapist Amy is awesome and most of the staff is great but, will your appointment ever be at the scheduled time? Absolutely not. Will you run out of important medications frequently due to poor communication? All the time. Until I finally said something I was being seen by a different NP every week. Anyone who sees a psychiatrist or therapist knows it is important to see the same doctor because each doctor does things a little different. I had 2 providers completely contradict one another here. That's a big deal because my medications were changing drastically

I can’t say enough good things about this office and I’m a new patient. My first appt was so comforting. The girls at the front desk are so friendly and welcoming. The care that is given at Avant Psychiatry East Cobb is phenomenal. The psychiatrist Dr. Justin takes time to go over the treatment plan and clarifies anything I didn't understand. The staff members are pleasant and I highly recommend this practice for their service in providing top-notched patient-centered care!
