I'm Dr. Wendianne Wilson, although most of my patients call me "Doctor Wendi". I grew up in the greater Chicagoland and northern Indiana area.
I graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry with my doctorate degree before moving here to Des Moines in 1992. I loved biology classes in high school and in college, so I decided on a career in a medical field. I was drawn to optometry because of my own need for glasses and contact lenses starting in about 5th grade.

Prior to joining Advanced Eyecare Center PC, I've enjoyed a varied work life. I've been a designer with Better Homes and Garden, an employment agency manager, owner of an insurance agency, and a few others. I've enjoyed being a part of Advanced Eyecare Center PC and the education it has given me, the patients I've come to love, and the assurance we are making a difference in people's lives.

Internal Exam - This is an evaluation of the retina and optic nerve while your eyes are dilated. Visual Function and Eye Health - This includes testing depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and response of the pupils to light, as well as an evaluation of eye focusing, eye teaming and eye movement abilities.
If you've had a vision screening recently, you might say, My vision is fine! I don't need a comprehensive eye exam. But a vision screening provides a limited perspective on the overall health of your eyes. It's a bit like getting your blood pressure checked and not getting the rest of your annual physical.

My family & I have been coming here for years. Dr. Wilson & her staff are great! I started coming here after I injured one of my eyes 10 yrs ago. I occasionally have minor issues with that eye. The staff has always gotten me in right away if I have had any problems. Recently I had a infection in my eye lid right before a family vacation. I needed to get in & they were booked. The staff made sure to squeeze me in to take care of me. My eye lid was back to normal within a few days. I truly appreciate that they took care of me on a short notice! Thank you Advanced Eyecare!!!

I have been with Dr. Wilson and her Clinic for years. She and her staff are amazing. During each office visit we are able to communicate comfortably about life at the moment and the real world. She effectively communicates my vision concerns and needs. Her staff is very educated in helping me find a perfect fit for my glasses! Absolutely Recommend..

I have never had any problems. The staff here are fantastic. Always busy and always greet you when you walk in.
I love that Dr Wilson knows me by name and we chat every visit. She remembers me and what's going on with me.
If your getting glasses they will work with you till they get it right.
I am a regular contact person and I appreciate that if I like what I have they don't try and pressure me into something new.
