Welcome to our Merle Hay Mall practice serving the Des Moines metro area, including Ankeny, Altoona, Urbandale, West Des Moines, Waukee, Johnston, and Windsor Heights. Our offices are conveniently located in the Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines and the Valley West Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa. I decided to get my eyes checked on a whim while I was at the mall and they were able to fit me in.
Dr. Terry D. Huseman graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1985. He has practiced at the Des Moines location since 1987. Dr. Huseman is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association. He is therapeutically certified to diagnose and treat eye diseases.
Mandi has been the general office manager for both offices and staff since 1994. She loves working with our patients and making sure their needs are met by each member of our team. She is a natural leasder. If you have any questions, she is a tremendous resource and always helpful. Elizabeth is the office manager at Valley West.

Called and was able to get an appointment that day later in the afternoon! Dr. Katherine Kemmerer was just exceptional! She explained her findings and discussed options for contacts versus lenses. She was apologetic for being behind in schedule, but I was just pleased to be able to get into see her that day, which for a medical professional of any type is unheard of unless you go to urgent care. SUPERB staff! Highly recommend!!!

I've been going to both the Merle Hay & Valley West Huseman Eye Care locations for my eye exams for well over a decade. Everyone I've encountered there over the years has been very caring, skilled, & professional. I normally see Dr Soults or Dr Huseman & they are both excellent. Service is quick but never feels rushed or impersonal. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful surprise to find such an amazing doctor's office inside a mall. After my previous Optometrist dropped out of network for my insurance plan three years ago I started going to Huseman Eye Care. I have always received excellent care from this office, but yesterday was incredible. I scheduled an appointment online several days ago, and promptly showed up at the front desk yesterday. Unfortunately, I scheduled my appointment at the wrong location, so I was in the wrong place at the right time. It didn't even phase the wonderful people working the front desk. In just a few

Had an exam yesterday, everyone was very nice. I also had my rowdy 3yr old and they were so patient as he was very curious to what was going on, they had crayons and paper for him. Dr. Katie was who I saw and she explained everything so well I had no problem understanding what she was telling me. I was impressed with how quickly I was able to see her since this was my first visit and check in went quickly. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for a comfortable atmosphere.
