You can hear everything your neighbors are saying through the super thin walls, and you can smell the food your neighbors are cooking, which I hated because my neighbors were always cooking things that smelled awful. When I moved out, I cleaned thoroughly and even had my clean freak brother help me (he worked cleaning college dorms during the summer), and they took well over half of my security deposit for cleaning! I lived here during my studies at Penn State. I didn't search for many places while I was out there, but I came across the Lions Gate Apts online and booked it. Without visiting it first, the website and photos are accurate, and there were no surprises while I was there.

The property is on the quiet - average size. Again, I lived in a building where parties didn't happen to often, and of course if they did, you heard everything. How quickly the world has turned, I thought, as I first opened the door to my building at the Lions Gate. Unlike my previous homes in Chicago/Philly/London/Boston I didn't need a key. As long as I was moving in, the building staff said I could back up the moving truck across the lawn all the way up to the entrance. Thanks to the ease of the apartment application process my grad school experience was off to an encouraging start. I was able to do this remotely from Philly before ever seeing my place. Thank goodness, I was pleasantly surprised. Welcome to Happy Valley, Joey.

The sensible price

I have lived in Lion's Gate for two years as a graduate student at Penn State. It was kind of a fluke that I ended up here, but my experiences at this complex have been great!

My one bedroom apartment is the perfect size for me- enough space to have friends over for events, but not excessive. The complex itself has plenty of parking for residents and visitors alike. I've rarely had any maintenance issues, and when I do, they are amazingly prompt (even for minor things like a clogged drain)! It's generally quiet and peaceful here on the weekends, but when I've had parties I
