Services
Clifford Baker, MD, is an ACGME board-certified interventional spine and pain management specialist at NovaSpine Pain Institute in Sun City West, Arizona. While skilled in all aspects of pain management, Dr. Baker has a passion for the latest advances in interventional spine treatments, including radiofrequency ablation, kyphoplasty, and spinal cord stimulators.
David Tom, MD, is a triple ACGME board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine, pain medicine, and anesthesiology at NovaSpine Pain Institute in Gilbert, Arizona. He is known for his compassionate approach to care and is an expert in diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions of the joints, neck, back, and nerves.
Dr. Zakas was born and raised in suburban Boston, Massachusetts. He went to medical school at A.T. Still University, his first two years in Kirksville, Missouri and his second two years in the Phoenix valley. Within days of living in Phoenix, he fell in love with the area, and knew he wanted to return after completing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Madison, Wisconsin.
Kristian Oarde is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner who provides comprehensive pain management to both acute and chronic pain patients. Kristian started as a Registered Nurse in 2008 with backgrounds in Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Leadership, and spent most of his career in the Emergency Department.
Ryan Hill-Falkenthal is a board certified Physician Assistant. He obtained his Masters of Science at D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York, and Bachelor of Science from the same college. Prior to coming to NovaSpine, Ryan worked extensively with patients who had orthopedic spine ailments. He not only performed valuable diagnostic testing and assessments, he also assisted the surgeons in the operating room and provided post-operative care.

Dr. Baker is highly regarded by the medical community and I can see why. He is personable and professional. All of his support personnel are well trained and also very personable and easy to deal with. Of all of the pain treatment clinics out there, I'm very glad my other doctors solidly recommended NovaSpine Pain Institute.

They have been very attentive and have worked very hard working with me to help resolve my pain issues. I just had an injection after several trials to see if it would help. So far, I had the injection today it seems successful. I’d recommend them to anyone needing pain relief. They were fast and efficient today administering the injection. The anesthesiologist Paula Is the best.

I had seen Dr Clifford Baker for years but hadn't since 2014 as of other health issues. Going back after so many years was such an ease of getting back into the system. Each and every one of the office personnel were great and could not help any more then they did on the phone or in the office. And of course Dr. Baker is the best. He is kind and well informed and takes his time with his patients. I had previous visits with a another provider at Nova Spine and I was not happy with the way I felt I was being treated by the doctor’s Medical Assistant, I left the office with no resolution to my pain and was very discouraged and thought I was never going to get help with my pain. Haley reached out to me and was genuinely concerned and wanted to work with me and felt bad that I was unhappy with how the visit turned out. The staff is welcoming, upbeat & appear to enjoy their work. Going to a medical office that creates an environment of possibility is refreshing. So often the medical offices generate a doom & gloom energy & the space is small and inadequate for people to actually move around and be in their physical body space. The waiting room is comfortable and large as is the patient room. Dr. Baker is focused and gets to the point of how and/or what might be the best healing modality for your particular pain issue. He is thorough and leaves no stone un-turned.

I have had pain for more than 6 months. It was truly affecting every aspect of my life. I met with Nurse Practitioner Terri and had SI Joint injections from Dr. Baker and it has almost completely subsided!!!
Terri was very easy to work with. She answered my many questions and agreed to prescribe physical therapy to augment my injections. She is incredibly sweet and helpful. Dr. Baker was really nice and reassuring. He explained my MRI to me so I had some more clarity. He made me feel very comfortable and he really listened to my symptoms to target the specific problem area for me. I am very thankful

I have been in a different pain management clinic since I was in Riverside County Ca. Since we moved in Arizona my primary care recommend Nova Spine and I am so glad she did. This places very clean and has excellent staffs and very good in what they do. I just used the Telehealth option for my office visit and it was easy to get on the website and very comfortable visiting with Ms. Vicky. They call you first to walk thru getting logged on, which is only maybe 3 steps. Really easy! I recommend Dr. Baker for pain management and if you need a visit during these weird COVID-19 times, use the TELEHEALTH.

I've gone here for awhile and like everyone in the office. Here are the issues I have. I've only seen Dr Baker once. Then it's his PA who I like. Dr Baker spends his time doing injections where o was told he does about 40 a day. It's very much like an assembly line. He uses ents to get you in and out. I believe the person giving the happy medicine for sedation is a nurse. Regardless. I have always had a bad reaction to the drugs and was given lots of iv benidryl to counteract the itching. And when I'd leave I was so out if it I could f get into my house. After fracturing

Dr. Baker and Victoria Tweedy are the BEST!! I have a bad back and pain throughout my body- I work long hours and Dr. Baker gives injections that literally help so much. I referred my brother and sister in law who also love Dr. Baker! My parents would see him as well if they accepted Medicare. Great, friendly staff and every appointment is fast but worth while!! Dr. Baker is the best! I have been in excruciating pain for the last 3 years. He saw me and put me on steroids for a few days. Within 24 hrs I was able to get up and walk around [I was on the hardwood floor of my house for 2 weeks after my back locked up this last time]. I was so happy and thankful. Dr. Baker gave me hope. He also recommended an amazing surgeon. I saw Dr. Baker for an epidural and the outcome was amazing. I walked out of his office pain free. I cannot brag about Dr. Baker and his team enough. He is a fantastic doctor and an amazing human. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY SPINE!

Dr. Morales, you are an excellent doctor and my wife and I appreciate your care but your front desk has a lot to be desired. The last two visits we felt we weren't treated with care by your front desk and worst off was that my wife left your office in pain because we were told you didn't write prescriptions on days which you do injections. They did offer to make an appointment a week later to come back but that meant my wife would have lived in pain until the appointment date. It just didn't make sense. I would have hoped that as a certified medical professional center your patients

Dr. Baker is fabulous. Very knowledgeable, efficient and accommodating. I am a retired surgeon, therefore I know what I'm talking about when reviewing other physicians. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. He treated me for pinched nerve in my lumbar spine with great results. It was very obvious that he knew his stuff.

BEWARE OF $1100 URINE TEST IN OFFICE! This is a practice based solely on fraudulent lab billing. Office vist $134. Xray $62. Urine collected in their bathroom $1100 for which I was billed insurance allowable of $726. I dont do drugs. Did not ask for prescription medication, yet I left there with habit forming prescriptions to justify lab order. The actual treatments by the doctor are overshadowed by the blatant incompetence of his administrative staff. After listening to his receptionist rail for what seemed like forever. She toldl me that I "was not covered by the VA" and that I had to understand how to determine if an insurance co was primary or secondary etc, I told her to please just be quiet, do her job. She stomped off like a two year old and told the Office Manager her story. The office manager told me that I was discharged for up setting the desk clerk. Can you believe this? I and my invalid wife were denied health care
