El Merendero
In the Spring of 1972, Los Lupes opened its doors on the corner of Cole & Riverfront (formerly Industrial) bringing Traditional Mexican Food to Dallas. Authentic Mexican food is a lost concept held by few restaurants today because it is so difficult to prepare. The recipes used today have been passed down from our ancestors through three generations.

In all three generations, there was a child named "Lupe". Hence, the "Los Lupes(R)" (many Lupes). For over 40 years, Los Lupes (R) has remained family owned and operated. Join our Birthday & Anniversary club to start receiving a FREE DINNER certificate by email.

Terrible service! NEVER AGAIN! Took a while to sit us down. Once at the table it took a while for them to take our order. They brought the chips and salsa and took our order for the drinks. We ordered a water, piña colada, coke and a margarita. Waitress brought everything but the pina colada. Then I guess she forgot cause she brought it only after we reminded her of it. She didn't give me a straw for my drink and took forever to come back so I could ask her for one. Ordered the fajitas double and the rice was cold 😫 Anyways hubby finished his piña colada and asked for another and again the

I won't blame the waiters but the cooks should definitely speak to manager. Food is horrible fajita way to overcooked beans and rice nasty and hard. Salsa for chips is literally soup all water no salsa and chips cold won't go back for sure

We drove into Los lupes around 9ish, they were already doing for 10 dollars valet then we were worried if we don't get inside by 10pm we will get charged again as they have a cover charge after 10pm. Also most of the parking lot has been blocked off for valet so its like you have no choice but to valet. We finally got seated yet no one came with chips and salsa. Steven, our waiter, came to get our orders. Everything was okay until we recieved the bill. We asked if he can spilt the bill 3 ways but he only spill it 2 ways. Then we asked to spilt the bill again and he said he cannot do that.

Dined in for Saturday morning breakfast. Friendly staff, covid plexiglass in between each booth. Service was great. Although this place is in need of a serious makeover inside. Its really dark, gloomy and very outdated. No music playing😒
On to the food, 1st plate was huevos rancheros con gueso y frijoles (ranch style eggs, beef stew and beans) stew was bland, tasted like canned beans and salsa. 2nd dish, nopales con huevo, papas y frijoles (scrambled eggs w/cactus, fried potatoes and beans) again bland, tasted like canned cactus. A shy portion of potatoes but they were good. Tortillas were okay

Came here on Sunday April 25th because we were looking for something "different" than our usual. We walked in and waited and waited and waited and no one bothered to greet us or seat us. We decided to leave and can honestly say, I'm glad we did.

We found Lupe Tortilla down the road - much cleaner, more modern and the food is fantastic. Our impression of Los Lupes was not favorable due to lack of service but it also seems to have not seen a fresh coat of paint in decades. We didn't eat here and can guarantee we never will. Go down the street- you'll be glad you did.

The server was not attentive, wanted to move outside and they wouldn't allow it bc the patio was closed. The water had bugs in it, margaritas not strong they tasted like water, and the manager was flipping the tortillas with no gloves. It was a joke, never coming back

My first time eating a brisket enchilada, and it was DELICIOUS!! I'm definitely coming back for more when I want an enchilada that's not just beef or chicken. Lol also, our waitress was very polite and helpful. Service was great!! Thanks Los Lupes!!

I was going to a different restaurant solve this one with the famous sign authentic Mexican food. That was a total lie. After walking in seeing the place empty that should have been a hint waiting almost 10 minutes for someone to sit me down and taken order I decided to get it to go I did something simple and easy that nobody should ever screw up. Which Which they did. For tacos in one burrito for $10 is OK if the food was good. Burrito was cold And more like a smalle flour tortilla bought from winco folded in half. tacos were tortillas with meat thrown in a dish variant never come to this place

Typical texmex style menu. The salsa they bring to the table is like water and tomato juice, almost impossible to dip more like soak those old chips.needs a little updating and some cleaning. Service is friendly but slow. The prices are really good.

Excellent food! The salsa verde is really really good!! This particular location is nice and has a large patio. It's been a while since I've rated a Mexican food place because I don't find many that I like. This one is really good in my opinion. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is exactly what I'd expect for a cantina in the Addison area! I highly recommend the carne guisada and you have to try their salsa verde!!

Queso tasted like soap, the margs were watered down, and there were broken beer bottles all over the parking lot. If you want good Mexican, there are several better spots close by.

I drove out all the way from Fort Worth to give this restaurant a try. Initially, the reason was because of the DJ playing but I figured we could also try the food.

When we arrived, we couldn't find any parking that we had to valet the car. Price was $5 so it wasn't too bad. Once we entered the establishment, it was crowded and we had to wait for a table. I did request to sit where the DJ would be playing which they accommodated us.

Once we were seated, I noticed our waiter was about his job as a waiter so he came quickly to our table to take our drink order. He seemed as if he were

Dangggg this place is getting roasted but I'm not really sure why? Maybe it's run down, a little dirty, service a little slow. But they have solid food and probably the cheapest food around? $1 breakfast tacos, $2 drinks during hh. $3-5 breakfast plates. Some of the other reviews have some merit, but you just got to take this place for what it is, cheap eats. Sounds like we expect 5 star service from a 1/2 dollar sign restaurant. Good value here.

For that run-down hole in the wall authentic experience in an old school Mexican restaurant, this is the place.

Food is amazingly good: pretty much everything else (service, vibe, atmosphere etc.) is not.
Today I had the Nachos Al Carbon, beef.

Oh, and stay away from the tea: either the funk is in the water this time of year or it is made from powder, hard to tell.

Has always been my go to restaurant. Tonite, got to go order. Stale chips. Ice cold tortillas. Order was to include two shrimp, nowhere to be found.

Disappointing. Will have to find new restaurants. Shame.

I didn't have high hopes going in because there were three different sections of the restaurant and there were babies and kids running around at midnight. But let me tell you!!!! The drinks are strong and the tacos were good. Don't let the looks scare you. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Pretty terrible. Dirty torn light fixtures. Lots of dust hanging down from ceiling. Waitress was yawning when taking order, not following up even when she said she would come back. There was an extended period when all glasses but mine were empty. I had to pour some of my drink into my daughter's cup.
Beef fajitas were either a poor cut which tasted like liver or they were old. Food was blah at best. No real highlight to share...I guess I would say the charro beans were okay. Stale chips...the list goes on.
