All our food is made from scratch in house and drinks are inspired by the cool breezes of a tropical paradise. The Dallas Sport and Social Club runs several 4's and 6's Volleyball tournaments and other various events throughout the year.

Services
Welcome to The Sandbar Cantina and Grill (known to the locals as "Beach Ellum"). We are located at 317 S. 2nd Ave, Dallas, Texas 75226, at the corner of Second Ave and Canton in Deep Ellum. We offer a unique concept of bringing a tropical escape within the confines of a major metropolitan city. We are a beach where you can relax, enjoy amazing fresh made food, hand crafted cocktails and great local music.
We rent courts by the hour. Just include the DATE, TIME, LENGTH OF TIME and NUMBER OF COURTS you want the court and include it in your request. Must be made 24 hours in advance! In events over 15 people that will be eating, we offer catering buffet style for your group. This ensures your food comes out timely and everything is set up for you.
Sandbar is a bar and grill. As such, we require underage people (those under 21) to be accompanied by their parent or guardian. There are events, juniors practice, tournaments and such where there are exceptions to the rule. We ask if you come to Sandbar with your kids, please, watch your kids. Leaving your kids to run around the facility while you play is irresponsible because you are basically asking staff and/or patrons to babysit your kids.

The people running the place are great! Good courts. It's a little cramped because of the location. Would love to see a branch open in north Dallas!!

The coolest beach volleyball bar in Dallas. They have open play and leagues you can play in with Dallas Sport & Social anytime. The sand courts are always well maintained and they even have a fire pit around to keep you warm in the winter time! They have a bar inside for drinks of all types and they also serve delicious food! The chicken quesadillas are a personal favorite!

Our volleyball girls had a blast celebrating Friendsgiving. The only downside is the food. This place is not really set up for food orders and there is a very long wait and the portions are small for the price.

Had a blast there celebrating my daughter’s birthday weekend. The people there were fun as well. Sand felt awesome too. Will definitely go back.

I play in a league here and the courts are nice. The staff is friendly and service is pretty good. Food was tasty.
The ladies bathroom leaves a lot to be desired... I get that the place is a “cantina” and people track sand everywhere, but it smells pretty bad and isn’t well stocked. They were out of soap and toilet paper last time.
There’s also random stuff all over the sand areas. People are trying to find spots to warm up during league nights, but it’s difficult (and not too safe) with the old metal fire pit, the surplus of wooden high top tables, and the seemingly useless stage.

Staff was amazing! Even though I did not personally played, my friends enjoyed it! One of the staff members went out of her way to find my friend group because 1 of us had forgotten our belongings on a table. Thank you.

I have been playing league here for years & have always loved the place. But there's one enormous issue: the bar used to offer free water and now they don't. They don't allow in outside containers, forcing players to buy mini plastic water bottles. They don't offer recycling. Not only is it despicably wasteful, but also extremely dangerous for athletes. I've seen some extreme cases of dehydration here recently and it is a direct result of the bar not offering free water. It's a public health hazard and just seriously unnecessary. I'm also like 90% sure it's illegal for an establishment that serves

This place is so neat! We came here on a Wednesday night and it was packed! Luckily after 10 mins we found a court to play. We had 2 teams of 3 people. It was so hot but we still had a lot of fun.

The restrooms were clean, staff was nice. It's free entry as well so it's pretty neat. Would definitely come back here again. I'm not too sure if they play music outside but I think that would be cool to play and hear music at the same time

A few friends recommended this spot to me, so while my dude and I were checking out Deep Ellum, we went here. It's not exactly in Deep Ellum, but maybe a good 10 minute walk from it. If you parked in Deep Ellum, I would recommend driving there and re-parking as they have a pretty big and free parking lot.

The bar is somewhat dive-y with a cantina vibe. You can expect colorful and tropical decor here. The bar inside is not very large, which is okay because you would want to go outside anyways. The The patio is nice and has plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy, and from there you can see the

Such a awesome atmosphere here at Sandbar cantina and grill. Stoped to have a cold beer, heard of this place before wanted to check it out since I was in the area. Will definitely be back to have lunch here. Really really neat place. Happy to say it felt like a small getaway, only thing it is missing is the beach. Yet, the Sand Sure made it feel like a fun summer day. Love love love.

Super fun place, 9 whole sand volleyball courts!! Such a fun place to get together with friends and usually enough people to set up some subbing volleyball or joining other people. The food was very mediocre, nothing special. Such a fun concept and place to hang out. Will definitely be coming back! Great place to just hang out and get a good competitive work out on! They provide balls but you can bring your own and they have a shower to rinse off it needed.

I've been in Dallas for 2 years now, and Sandbar remains one of my favorite places here! I came here pretty much on my first week here and I was hooked!
Free entry to just play volleyball, great drinks, and good bar food. The views of Downtown Dallas are amazing! The vibe is so chill and fun. Its a great place to wind down after a long day.
One of the top places to go in Dallas. Highly recommend.

Awesome place. Such a cool vibe and just fun to hang out. Loved our time here. We didn't play volleyball, but just enjoyed the vibe. My group was all guys born and raised in SoCal and it felt like we were at some place back home that we would go to.

Multiple sand volleyball courts? Free entry? Volleyballs provided? Yes, yes, yes. I will continue to go and will buy drinks just because of the nature of this business.

9 volleyball courts?! So awesome!

I had a ton of fun getting my weekly fill of sand volleyball. You can get a volleyball if you give them your car keys or your ID. Calling next on a court is as simple as playing some clothing on the net.

I had a bit of a difficult time finding Sandbar Cantina.  I'm not sure if it was my fault or Google's but anyways FYI it may take a little searching to find this place.
Sandbar is truly a Cantina both in look and atmospherr, both of which I very much liked.  I arrived on a Monday just after opening and had the place pretty much to myself. The bar had my favorite beer on tap (Deep Ellum IPA) but due to a miscommunication I didn't know it was available.  The beer selection was pretty good though. Their menu looks pretty interesting but I only had the cheese sticks. They were darn good.

Ughh this place was seriously just horrendous! Absolutely horrible. Upon entry it was obvious that it was completely disorganized, not to mention dirty. The "bouncer" chose to charge some people $20 at the door (for nothing but an entry fee- didn't include anything else at all) and let others go free. Fine, whatever. But then the night was followed up with TERRIBLE customer service like I've never experienced before. The bartender/waitress (where was all of the wait staff on a Saturday night???) ignored us when trying to order so I had to walk up to the bar to order food. This

This place is so much fun! It's a sand bar with about 10 volleyball courts. They have an excellent patio for watching games or eating. Drinks are made strong and well. There are Texas flags and memorabilia throughout. The avocado fries are delicious and a must have! Love it here!

Nice, strong drinks plus a great place to play with your friends. I enjoy coming during the day before the professionals intimidate me out of a good time with my shirt off. It's free to grab a court, just bring a volleyball (I'm not sure if they have any to borrow, but they do have a pump). I can't wait to come play again!

Very soft sand, lots of drink options and the staff was super nice! Volleyball is free and there is no cover, you just give them your card to use a ball if you don't have your own and your good to go!

I've been coming here since they opened. They've come a long way since then :)

I play co-ed league volleyball here so I'm here every week during the summer. This place is unlike a lot of downtown Dallas in that it's extremely, extremely chill. I mean we're all walking around barefoot and covered in sand, haha.

The food here is better than you would expect from a bar, IMO. Anything I've ever ordered has gone above my expectations- my favorite was always their fish tacos. They've also got servers running around making sure you're doing OK or seeing if

I love this place for playing volleyball. There are a ton of sand volleyball courts. We are in a tournament group and they do a great job coordinating. The drinks are fairly priced too, though they do have a minimum of 10 dollars when paying with a credit card, which can be a bear when you just want one beer while playing your volleyball game. Their food is pretty decent for bar food but nothing to write home about. They also let kids in until 10:30 PM and you're allowed to come on Sunday to play freely on the volleyball courts, which are pros! Overall a really fun place to play volleyball

Started coming here on Monday's. Good happy hour, too. Get here early if you want a court, but rotations always happen through the night. Watch out for leaguers if you're just wanting to have fun. Some get too competitive.

This place is amazing and I'm sad that I haven't discovered it earlier! It seems very out of place in Dallas and you definitely feel like you've been transported to Southern California.

They have at least 10-12 sand volleyball courts with good availability. It's free to play and they have plenty of volleyballs to go around.

Nothing like playing some sand volleyball on a warm summer night :-)

It was my first time at Sandbar Cantina but i had heard that it was a cool place to get some sand in my buns (homage to spongebob) Sandbar has a nice selection of music blasting on their outdoor speakers, creating a good environment for some competitive volleyball

I'm not sure what the pricing is but i believe you have to order some drinks or something from the menu to play in the pits

You can order some beers to warm you up before the games.... booze and volleyball? Sounds like a great snapchat story waiting to happen
