State & Allen Lounge

State & Allen is a cute neighbor bar and restaurant. All of the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was great. It had a little more of a bar atmosphere than I was hoping for a dinner, but I am sure it is not like that when the weather is nice and you can sit outside or for brunch/lunch. Overall, I had a wonderful experience!

I Went for brunch i feel like its more of a bar than brunch. Smelled more old alcohol than food. But i will say the food i got was Bussin Bussin. It was a burger and pizza. I couldn't really tell who was staff and who wasnt. If i wouldn't have spoken up about placing an order i feel like i wouldnt have ate for a while.

Came for brunch with a large group. They had out tables ready. One waitress served us and she did a really good job. The food came quickly as well. I ordered the crab cakes and eggs and I was impressed. Well cooked and seasoned. Also a really good price for crab cakes! Thumbs up for brunch.

Come here at least once a week. Cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Brunch is PHENOMENAL. Awesome deals on Sunday. Cant recommend it enough.

Some friends and I went to State and Allen today for some Sunday brunch, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. This place definitely feels like a local place, where everyone knows each other. I had the some spicy bloody marys and then I ordered the Triple Dip and the Pesina Chicken Tortilla Soup. All of them were so delicious, and the presentation was great too. The service today was fantastic, and our bartender Nino took care us with the utmost attention and quality drinks! He definitely made us feel at home with his charisma and warm welcome. If you get the chance, I highly recommend stopping.

This restaurant is a Dallas favorite! We love coming for brunch, to watch a game, or enjoy a causal dinner. We hosted my husband's work party here last week in their private space and it was perfect for our group!! Kaley and Joe took great care of us and took care of anything we needed.

We had the WORST service. We were seeing the male and female managers more than our actual server (guy). The hostess DID NOT want to be there. She was rude and should not be face when walking in. I ordered a Benedict and had to send the eggs back twice bc it was either overcooked or under. Then I had to ask for a side of hollandaise bc the food was so dry by the time they kind of got it right; they really should have re- made the whole thing . The apple whiskey drink on the menu did not taste as described on the menu and we had to order another drink in place of it. We got charged for both even

The location can't be beat, located in a very walkable neighborhood where it seems like everyone was outdoors. Had the breakfast pizza and it was phenomenal, opted to do scrambled eggs instead of having a runny egg on top out of personal preference. The inside can be a little dark, so recommend sitting on patio.

The space is in a fantastic location in State Thomas and the restaurant it self has a social atmosphere which I enjoyed.

The food itself was good, not great and the prices were reasonable along with that.

The true thorn in S&A's side is the atrocious service. The restaurant is clearly understaffed with the waitstaff being forced to cover way too many tables. Ordering required multiple attempts to flag down our waitress and once received it was another 40+ minutes for our food to arrive. The icing on the cake being that the entree they brought my girlfriend was not what she ordered and

I visited State & Allen for the first time and I enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food! I substituted the ham in the breakfast sandwich with bacon. It had a great taste, but there was too much queso cheese sauce. I had a hot coffee with Bailey's Irish Creme mixed in, for a great specialty coffee flavor! I highly recommend it!

Their Monday special is half price pizzas. We came for dinner, and it wasn't very busy. They have indoor and patio seating. I ordered the Meaty Meat pizza. The pizzas are the perfect size for one person. The pizza was okay but nothing life changing. I wasn't blown away by the crust or sauce, but the toppings were good. Not bad though for being half price. I've heard this is the place to go for brunch, so I'll have to come back.

Cassandra N was by far the best server I’ve had in a long time! The service was amazing and so was the food. The bourbon banana bread pudding with walnuts was divine.

(Rounded up from 3.5 stars.) The food was good (not quite great), but service was a bit sluggish. It took forever to get the food and the server wasn't super invested. I'd go back and hope for a better server. The eggs were SO good.

I really wanted the pork chops and my sister wanted the steak and a Mojito but they were out of alot of things. The manager apologize due to the food delivery truck. We still had a good time. And I would give them another chance.

Had a great experience here! The food was amazing, the staff was courteous and attentive, and the atmosphere was bright and fun. We were particularly impressed by the draft beer selection and bar. The barstaff were knowledgeable and service was expedient. We will definitely return here.

TDLR- Don't recommend coming here to eat. Please don't come here and save your $30 dollars. Brunch wasn't good

The Benedict wasn't good. The hollandaise sauce was barely anything.
I told them to put the Turkey on side and I'm pretty sure they gave me deli meet.

The Giant, the gravy was terrible. The eggs were served cold. No salt or pepper shakers provided. At least the bacon was good.

Don't listen to anyone who gave this place a bad review. Their wrong. The food is absolutely amazing, I've tried just about everything on the menu and everything was absolutely amazing. Also, the prices are incredible (especially the drink prices/happy hour selections) you wont find anything in the area that is comparable in quality and price. The street-side seating is nice and cozy, great location, and cool place to have a drink outside. But beware, the food is absolutely terrible. We got the special of day, which was a grilled cheese with mozzarella and basil.
To our surprise, it was a very lazy sandwich. I would compare it to a Chili's or Applebee's, so we left pretty disappointed. Definitely going to give this place another shot because it's always packed, so hopefully it was just a bad night.

Updating my review to 5 stars! The menu is and I love the gluten free options they have added. Since covid this has been a great hangout spot in the neighborhood. Their half off pizza deal on Monday is great and we love the bbq chicken pizza. We've also always had great experiences with our servers!

Went with family for brunch. Added salt, pepper and butter to the grits. Everything else was seasoned well. The poached egg was cooked perfectly. The hash was great, and I’m a purple potato fan! But I don’t think I like banana pancakes so that wasn’t their faults lol. Lots of food for the price, such a plus. I’ll come back for lunch one day.

The service was great but the food was beyond mediocre. I ordered the brie and bacon grilled cheese with fries. My friend ordered the Mediterranean salad and chicken sandwich. We both struggled to finish our meal because of the lack of taste and flavor. I've only been here for brunch which was pretty good but their regular dinner menu is a total miss. I probably won't be back for a while.

My wife had the crab cake sandwich and I had the Mediterranean salad. The crab cake sandwich had a surprisingly good flavor and the bun actually held up pretty well. However, the fries were quite soggy. The salad was ok and the hummus had a good flavor, although it was a bit too thick for my personal tastes. The pita was terrible.

Wow this place sucks. Food, beverages and service were all pitiful. We ordered cocktails and requested a specific whiskey for the old fashioned that wasn't used. When we questioned the server he stated that's what he put it in so it must be the right whiskey. I watched the "bar tender" make the cocktails and saw her use a different whiskey. The result was a terrible old fashioned. The food was flavorless. Tried the bacon and Brie grilled cheese that had no bacon. The "bacon" onion jam was supposed to be the bacon...it wasn't. The whole thing tastes like a soggy

This place is a second home! I have spent many nights there and I have never been disappointed. I love all the people there, they make me feel welcome and are not afraid to have fun with the customers! The food is SPECTACULAR, the drinks are INCREDIBLE, and location is PERFECT!

Having found this place because it's the place next to my favorite cocktail bar Parliament and also on many websites regarding best happy hours, I am glad we gave it a try. Employees were super friendly and had a nice outdoor space. One thing I did not understand, they had NO outdoor speakers. Who has an outdoor space and doesn't play any light music? Beyond that though, the place was nice and tables were spaced out. Some fans facing certain tables as well.

Happy hour was the best part. No food specials anymore at the moment, but some drink specials. $3.50 beers and wells from 3-7 M
