Agassiz Village is a nonprofit that provides opportunities for children in underserved communities from Massachusetts to Maine. For 86 years, our 330 acre overnight summer camp in Poland, Maine has provided a unique learning program that challenges kids to discover interests, uncover new skills, make lifetime friendships, and connect with inspiring mentors.
The skills kids learn at camp and through our year round high school program, help them thrive in school, college and beyond.

Services
Agassiz Village was founded in 1935 at its present lakeside location in Poland Maine by Mr. & Mrs. Harry E. Burroughs. Then, as now, Agassiz gave children the opportunity to escape the hardship of their daily lives. Originally the camp served boys who worked as newsboys, bootblacks, or other street vendors.
Gifts of Cash: The CARES Act allows taxpayers who take the standard deduction to make up to $300 of charitable contributions to qualified charities. Itemizers can deduct up to 100% of adjusted gross income. As of now, this only applies to 2020. Stock or Securities: Make a gift of stock or securities to Agassiz Village and avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of your stock.
Agassiz Village is looking for enthusiastic young professionals who want to learn, network, and help us thrive! The Young Professionals Board is comprised of motivated individuals who wish to serve as champions of Agassiz Village through logistical and hands-on support, development activities, and strategic planning.
Children experience swimming, archery, arts and crafts, dance and sports while learning leadership and life skills in a fun, positive and enriching environment. Teens gain confidence, self-reliance, self-esteem and the self-initiative and drive it takes to be successful. As well as experiencing the traditional overnight camp activities.
Be part of an incredible team, that is doing important work. AV is run by a hardworking and loving group of year-round and seasonal employees who believe that every child deserves the chance to enjoy the magic of our camp. Counselors are the core of camp life. Counselors bunk with their campers in our cabins, they participate in all activities with them, and ensure that each child's daily needs are met.

Horrible place! my kids just came back they were tramatized. this place is not safe for children. they allow violence ,in fact all three of my son's were in fights against their will. but the pathetic "counselors" think it's funny to watch young kids get hurt.
i feel like i have failed my kids allowing them to go here. i am going to talk to a lawyer.
please don't send your kids here!!!!

They say this camp is beautiful, green, crystal clear lake. No. No. No. No. I didnt have any friends and I never got any ether. Everyone had friends, but not me. My consler didn't know my name, i had a food allergy and I sent food and no on bothered to cook it. If you are going to an over night camp, never go here. Just stay home.
