Founded in 1915, the YMCA Camp of Maine has been dedicated to fulfilling the principles symbolized by the YMCA triangle, the development of MIND, BODY and SPIRIT for all. Located on the shores of Lake Cobbossee, the camp is situated on over 300 acres of pine tree forests, meadows and fresh water ponds. With one- and two-week overnight sessions, YCamp has programs for boys and girls ages 7 - 16 years.
Services
Founded in 1915 as the overnight camping program of the State YMCA of Maine, Jeff Smith had a vision for a place where boys could come and learn how to be leaders and work with their hands. Having an experience away from the growing cities was used to teach the participants how to cut hay, work with wood, swim and boat, and live in social settings.
Our camp staff team is an intentionally selected and expertly trained group of individuals, committed to creating the best summer experiences imaginable for our campers. We come from all walks of life and from around the globe to create a community that becomes family. Through group living, learning and playing, we are facilitators of lifelong friendships and memories.
Everyone is required to complete an online application. We review all submissions and evaluate each candidate closely for both strong activity and interpersonal skills. This email address will be used to contact you, and will grant you access to your employee portal, should you be hired. When you submit your application, your references will automatically be sent an online form that is linked to your application.
We are seeking caring and enthusiastic role models, who want to work with children ages 7-16, in a beautiful, rustic outdoor setting. Our staff members embody our four core values, (honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring) and build a community upon these. Returning international staff members should complete the YCamp application before contacting your host organization.
While working at YCamp, you become immersed in camp life: 100+ years of history and traditions, building unique, strong friendships with people from around the world, and making memories that will last a lifetime. YMCA Camp of Maine is a traditional, rustic camp, on a beautiful lake; an idyllic location to spend your summer.

My husband and I travelled to the Ymca camp for a wedding. The lake was beautiful but the camp was dirty and a big disappointment. The bathrooms were very dirty and our shower curtains had mold on them. Disgusting place to shower.

Our children, now ages 21 and 16, have attended YMCA Camp of Maine for 8 years. The camp has provided a fabulous place for friendship and development, and our daughter and son have enjoyed all aspects of this hidden gem. It is a little bit of a drive to get to Winthrop from the Boston area, but it has been worth it, every year. The team at the YMCA has been run so well over the years.
As YMCA Camp of Maine is turning 100 years old this year, I hope that they have another great 100 years in front of them!

Well is a great camp with great things, but it's really clique like there because it's groups of kids who already know each other even if it's there first time there, so there is not a lot of opportunities to make friends at Y-camp. And make sure to CHECK FOR LICE before you go

I've been going Y-Camp the last 4 years and hoping to make it 4 more. It's not for everyone, but it's defiantly for the kids who want to take it back to nature.
