Swiss Louis Italian and Seafood Restaurant on Pier 39 in San Francisco is dedicated to serving the finest Italian dishes and freshest seafood. Our extensive menu offers many traditional favorites including pastas, pizzas, fresh fish and shellfish, and our broiler entrees include fine steaks, and hot roasted whole Dungeness crab.
Services
It started more than a half century ago in 1936 when a Swiss Italian immigrant named Louis opened the original Swiss Louis Restaurant in North Beach in San Francisco on Broadway Street. Over the years, as the popularity of the restaurant grew, so did the need for larger facilities. In 1978, after 42 years on Broadway in North Beach, this popular dining establishment moved to Pier 39 near Fisherman's Wharf.
We have the capacity to seat over 300 people in our three dining areas. You can enjoy the flexibility of using the entire restaurant for a large group, or our Banquet Room for a private party or using the ala carte area. We, here at Swiss Louis understand the importance of being a part of your team in making your clients' San Francisco experience a memorable one.

I wanted to love this restaurant I really did. Amazing location (window views of sea lions sun bathing on piers). Beautiful decor for the winter holidays. The downside - the food. Felt like it was trying very hard to be high end food but wasn't hitting the mark. Ordered two starters - crab cakes and mozzarella. The crab cakes were eh ok but having them at other restaurants in the area expected way more. Mozzarella sticks I am convinced were store bought which is fine just not for the price point at this restaurant.
Fish and chips were decent but overall I don't think I would return again

On our stroll of Pier 39, we came across Swiss Louis. I have to be honest, I thought it was a little stuffy restaurant for such a carefree location, but we wanted to try something "different".
The dining area had a beautiful view. My photos don't do it justice. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. We had fresh oysters on the half shell, San Francisco sourdough garlic bread, Chicken Marsala and baked lasagna. Everything was delicious.
The only thing I wished would have been better was the server--not very friendly, a little forgetful, not present.
I would love to go back

The host stand at this place is abysmal. Rude as all hell. A 45 minute wait quoted and they never updated us or spoke to us beyond gesturing wildly and saying people weren't moving and there was nothing they could do... despite half the patio being empty. Wild. Blamed it on a private party that needed to be served first and said they couldn't serve anyone else until they were finished.....what

Nice restaurant. We had a very good experience and I would absolutely eat there again. The only reason that I gave three stars is because I love more garlic in my Italian food. The food is reasonably priced but expect to pay tourist taxes and other fees. Ambience has five stars, both inside and outside. Our service was good, no complaints at all.

I was worried that this place would be super touristy given that it's on Pier 39, but contrary to my expectations I did have a good time here!
First off, the view is SPECTACULAR! We were able to sit right by the window and we enjoyed fantastic views of the water.
The food was also pretty good, we stuck to the classics and got the fettuccine neopolitana. The portion size was pretty decent and the food was tasty! It was certainly a bit expensive for what we got but considering the beautiful view it felt worth it!
We also got the small order of garlic bread and it came with 8 pieces, curious

I wanted to really give this place 5 stars as it was in the heart of Pier 39, we were having a great day and so all of our moods were bright, and the views into the ocean from the restaurant was spectacular. And the food was decent too... very much on the bland side without much character. But it was an enjoyable meal. But something about this place was imbalanced. Something didn't go all together well. It almost felt like oysters were being served at a Denny's. Ingredients were fresh but everything around it felt off... it simply didn't come together. Despite reasonable prices, I felt I wasn't

The food and service was pretty good, but was a little bummed that we were seated away from any heat source and it was freezing. It’s was also a bit overpriced for what we got, but all in all, not a bad experience. The oysters I could pass on next time, but the muscles and cioppino were pretty good.

Nice place on the pier 39, outside dinning with fire pits. They mainly focus on Italian and sea food which is very interesting collaboration. I got chicken fettuccini as always and it was more than tasty. However their chicken parmigiana was not the best level because it taste like tomato paste and felt very dry.
Very friendly waiters and cozy atmosphere.

So I was spending the day around pier 39 and I try to go to a different restaurant every time I come here. So I was in the mood for Italian. So let me say the customer service was amazing. My waiter was so attentive and polite. So I did get a cocktail which came fast I want to say a mai Thai but I can't remember , it was sweet and strong. I got the calamari which was fried to perfection and flavorful. The garlic bread was big and just a tad greasy but it wasn't bad !! I loved the strong garlic flavor. Now the pasta primavera. It wasn't bad but I just wasn't wow'd. It was

Located on Pier 39. Open during Covid-19, outdoor seating.
Went yesterday (a Saturday). We waited less than 5 minutes for a table despite being busy. Our waiter was great. He always made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered some nicely served margaritas. The garlic bread was bomb, as well as the calamari. I got a chicken fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious, creamy, bursting with flavor. My sister ordered the chicken Parmigiano and although she's one to never finish her plate , she did.
The only downside was that the sun was right in our face when we first were seated,
