A spirited, bar-driven restaurant serving rustic Italian fare with modern sensibilities, Tratto means the stroke of a pen in Italian, a nod to the neighborhood's artistic history. A flavorful menu of simple, delicious and shareable dishes coupled with casual, communal-style dining creates a neighborhood bar experience inspired by the Italian happy hour tradition of "aperitivo."
Dishes such as house-made pastas and sausages, pizza, seasonal vegetables and seafood are prepared with as little manipulation as possible, ranging from slow-cooked braises to " la minute" cuisine. Our full bar features traditional Italian cocktails with a twist, house-made Italian Sodas and limoncellos, and beer and wine sourced from the best of the West Coast and Italy.

And, differentiating the space from its former incarnations are some cool line-drawing murals by local artist Amos Goldbaum. You're wandering the barren wasteland of Union Square and its surrounding environs and suddenly you see a shining oasis. Sure, it's attached to a hotel, but there's a bar and there's focaccia and pasta, too.
Tratto has comfortable and inviting spaces ready for celebrating with colleagues, friends and family. Host a casual cocktail reception, an upscale dinner or anything in between. Located in the heart of Tratto, adjacent the bar, our communal bar tables place you and your party in the heart of the action.

The food was good. The restaurant asked us to show our vaccination card and ID upon entry, which I was totally fine with.
But then halfway through our meal proceeded to sit 10+ table right next to us. On top of us practically. The restaurant did nothing about it, even after complaining to the manager.
We complained at the hostess desk and she said she would handle it. All that happened was we were given a to-go box and a non-discounted check. Pretty much "if you don't like it, go away."

Hidden Gem near Union Street. Highly recommend this Italian restaurant. They have a small and selective Menu. Very attentive Servers and delicious fresh food. Party of 5, we ordered house wines Minestrone soup, Gnocchi, Cannenolli pasta and Mushroom pizza with fontina cheese. You can't go wrong. Highly recommend their Mushroom Pizza. For the quality the price was great!

Good ambience and food, very poor service. Went on new year's eve, place was not crowded. However, there was only one service staff for the whole restaurant who also seemed to favor folks that were well verse with Spanish language. Had to wait long for order to be taken, remind multiple times for even water to be refilled. The final bill was erroneous and when pointed out, no apology for the error. Overall, a very poor experience.

Can't help but start this restaurant write up with dessert first! Eat with your eyes! The panna cotta at Tratto—with candied lemon rind, lemon curd, and sprinkled vanilla bean—was my absolutely favorite part of the meal, followed closely by the accompanying house-made pomplecello apertif. I also greatly enjoyed my lemon fettuccine cacciatore, which ended up being one dish versus a separate chicken cacciatore and pasta. I really like how that turned out all together! Husband had the mushroom pizza, which he enjoyed, though he was less enthused about the bitter cherry whiskey soda. I found the

Kevin the bartender is awesome! Simple fair that is executed beautifully. There's something about getting quietly drunk while in a hotel bar with this kind of atmosphere. It was raining outside, and Kevin pours triples disguised as doubles. The small plates were lovely and it was an amazing place to sit and read or talk to the person sitting next to you. It's a great Hotel, and it is a very solid restaurant. It's not going to ever be a place that you tell your friends that they absolutely have to go, but it is a place that you are so happy to be there after you haven't been there for a while. My

This is a lovely place on the corner with windows letting in the vibes of San Francisco. We came here because it had good reviews and it did not disappoint. Attentive staff, great drinks and delicious food. It was not busy on a nice Wednesday evening in late September, so I'm worried that it may not survive. Hope it does. Great place. Try it!!!

The two of us started a light early dinner of
frito misto fried calamari, shrimp and veggies).
We split a lovely butter lettuce salad with avocado and pepitas, etc. My husband, who usually likes Mayo-based dressing (and asks for extra) flipped over the light dressing on this salad.
The mushroom pizza was crisp and delicious.
The service was flawless.
Loved the art on the walls and windows.

This was our first time enjoying Tratto. We made reservations for 9 pm on Friday and were seated on time. The service was excellent; attentive without interrupting conversation. The vibe was lively with an open concept though you didn't feel crowded by the other parties. The food did not disappoint. We started with the warm olives and focaccia. My young daughter ordered from the child's menu - pasta with red sauce. The fresh pasta with sauce was a big hit! The gnocchi and pizzas stole the show! The gnocchi was light and pillowy with a lemon pesto I couldn't get enough of. Everything

After being chased by a homeless man in a wheelchair up a hill somewhere near tenderloin, i really did not want to ever return to sf. however, i would return to sf for this place. tratto was located literally around the corner from the hotel i was staying at and partially due to distance, partially due to the food, i ended up here 3 nights for dinner out of the week that i was in sf for a trip
as others have mentioned, the spinach tagliatelle and the chocolate lava cake is a KILLER combo and the combo i would return for. i was initially hesitant about the spinach but honestly, i think it introduced

Stopped in less than an hour before close, because they are inside of our hotel. The decor is fantastic. I ordered the Minestrone as I had been a little chilled from SF weather, and it was a large bowl and insanely perfect and hit the spot. My daughter ordered the pizza and I had a piece of that too. It's good enough, and I'm only sad that I didn't try their pastas which looked amazing. Great service and prices were reasonable and the ambiance is classy!

We were looking for an intimate dessert bar after dinner and stumbled upon this place. We did not realize they closed at 9 when we showed at 9. As much as we didn't wish to be those people they promptly sat us as we were there for coffee and dessert only. The hubs ordered the expresso and olive oil cake and I ordered an iced vanilla latte and the chocolate molten cake. We shared them between us and both were amazing! Definitely worth the stop! Thanks

So happy they re opened. The food here is great and the cocktails off the menu are even better. They feel very COVID safe and the tables were spaced well. The double dolce cocktail was not too sweet and actually pretty refreshing. The fried prosciutto roses with the fried chicken appetizer were a nice touch. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The desserts were so hard to choose from so luckily we got all three

This is a hotel bar, so the prices are a little insane, hence the 4 stars. HOWEVER, you HAVE TO GO for happy hour! their menu is unbeatable, with cocktails priced at $5, wings at a similar price, and a ton of options. the bar is also super nice and a fun environment, with cool old movies being projected onto the wall, and also just some great wall art. the bar provides a great place to people watch in down town sf, if youre into that! they have great Negronis, and their spritzes are delicious too. the wings are amazing and so is the flat bread. ive also been for breakfast once, and while the portions

Warmly greeted and promptly seated thanks in part to our Open Table reservation. A varied, yet not overwhelming menu (both food and drink.) For example, they offered one brand of each varietal of wine and a handful of both beers and cocktails. Our server did well in answering any questions we had and helped patiently with those who just couldn't decide. No daily specials - read into that as you will. Personally, I think it's a good thing.
The Spinach Tagliatelle, Three Meat Bolognese was a pretty safe choice based upon the previous reviews and it certainly did not disappoint! Perfectly
