We accept 'Most' VISA, Master Card, and Discover. Oh, and we also accept the good 'ol cash. We do Not take: Apple Pay, Crypto, Venmo, Paypal, or any digital payment app. And since some people aren't as honest as other people, we don't accept personal checks or IOU's. We also do not accept AmEx or any cards issued by Chase Bank - cause we think they suck!
Another of our very understated claims to fame is that Butter is the Original Home of the Red Bull Vodka cocktail. Yes the drink globally institutionalized in the 2000's was actually started right here in 1998. Its a long story of how that actually happened.

Terrible experience. My friend and I fully got groped at this piece of garbage place, took it all the way up to the owner, and absolutely nothing was done. Super sexist staff, nobody responded or cared about what happened to us. Left right after a confrontation with the grotesque owner named Vlad or something and will not be coming back.

Butter is a community Watering hole of the best kind the staff here are so friendly and the establishment gives an "all are welcome" feel. The drinks are low priced, the crowd is friendly, and the music and atmosphere are the right kind of dive. They have a $6 fried bar snacks menu that is just as it sounds. Would definitely recommend coming here on Thursdays.

We arrived for Monday night happy hour, which apparently has become an optional nights at Butter since it doesn't tend to be busy. Makes sense- most people are nursing those weekend hangovers on Mondays. Therefore, we only got to taste an incredible sauvignon blanc from one winery, but Butter took care of us by giving us 3 lovely reds to taste and a few cheese plates. I may like cheese even more than I like wine so I was in happy hour heaven.
I loved it and can't wait to go back on a different night when all the wineries are present. Butterb offers the best of both worlds- a taste of wine country

TRANS PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS BAR!!!!! DANGEROUS!! i watched a trans person get RIPPED OUT of the bar in a CHOKEHOLD. it is ILLEGAL in California to enforce gendered bathrooms (and in Sf??!?????!!!!!) and to use EXCESSIVE AND DANGEROUS methods to do so is only salt in the wound. what else should residents expect from the owners of butter? DO NOT COME TO THIS BAR.

I give that fifth star if they start carrying a non alcoholic craft beer option for designated drivers to purchase without having to pick something that just spikes blood sugar. Same price as beer. Id have gone to the bar 3 or 4 times tipping each time for each over 5 dollar no booze hops flavor. I miss the taste. Drinking real booze will kill me. Organ failure. So... I just wish I could taste fake hops and dance all night. Kisses and huggles. What do I know I'm muggle. 💋💋💋 Make me have to give up that fifth star. Make me. 💖💜❤️😘

This place feels like a college frat party fever dream in the best way possible. Their cocktails are so cheap (and huge and strong and tasty), jell-o shots are so fun, and the themed food is also great. My favorite was the prom night punch, it basically takes like jungle juice lol. Also, the bartenders are super friendly and showed us a great time.
I went on a weekday night and it was a very pleasant experience, not too crowded. Only heads up is I heard they charge $5 for cover on weekends (Fri-Sun?) and heard lines are pretty long.

Ended girls' nite with a nightcap here last Friday, our first time at Butter. We all loved the vibe, and the staff were super friendly and helpful!! There weren't any events going on that night, which was nice, as there were a number of patrons around the bar, but it was easy to find a place to sit comfortably since it wasn't packed. There was a DJ, so the place was still quite loud; we didn't mind the ol' whisper-yell, but I noticed when two of us were talking, the third in our group couldn't hear, so maybe pick another spot if you're trying to have full-length

First time here ever & on a date. Get why the name is butter, the building is yellow. ;) no cover charge , but we had to purchase food for about $20 to stay in the bar! :( but the food is good. Yummy drinks too! :) we got there a bit early , so the bar was not crowded. Nice employees too! :) would like to come here again.

Fun bar for a night out. Not super classy so don't come expecting sit down fancy drinks. Bar food is yummy especially after drinking and not to mention the drinks are strong! Try the Cherry Bomb if you are into that type of liquor! Reasonable pricing and bar tenders make sure to get around to you even when its busy. I will be back soon! Great times at Butter!

This bar is a must if you are in the city and looking to be treated as family vs just a customer. It is the best atmosphere me and my friends experienced while visiting the city. You feel nothing but welcomed the whole staff is amazing and beyond friendly. The drinks and food are great and so are the prices.
Will definitely be back next time we visit and would recommend stopping in and having a drink or two or many.
