Artesano
The restaurant's playful interiors reflect a fun, easy going and modern Latin sensibility with rustic wood tables, comfortable booths, strewn mason jar lighting, a stone fireplace, vibrant wall colors and patio seating. Artesano serves up a lunch and dinner menu inspired by authentic culinary themes from Latin America, including Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico and more.

We have added our own signature twists to these themes, creating provocative dishes that are modern, crave-able and downright tasty. Succulent and fresh yellowtail ceviche served with crispy house-made plantain chips, the irresistible albondigas "meatballs", and the tender juicy "un-pulled" pork are just a few of the signature dishes we have created.
Services
I had a strong appreciation of Brazilian cuisine, developed while living in Brazil for 4 years, and strengthened by my yearly trips to Rio de Janeiro to visit my father. We knew that the palates of SF foodies were evolving. Sophisticated diners were slowly broadening their interest in Latin American cuisine to countries throughout Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and more!
Artesano team members are the best of the best. We hire energetic, committed people who have a genuine desire to take care of other people. Our team members approach their jobs as an opportunity to please, and they are dedicated to engaging with every guest, every time. We provide a great environment to work.

Tried out this place for the first time today. I really do NOT recommend it to anyone.

My family ordered the Chicken Artesano & Churrasco steak to go. The name & description of the plate completely different from what I was served.

The Chicken Artesano comes with black beans, rice & salad. The chicken was still raw & a reddish color. Had no flavor, no salt no seasoning (even when it mentions it is slowly roasted with garlic & oregano). The rice no salt no flavor at all. And the black beans were the same (if you want to follow my suggestion as a Central American: please try

I would like to give artesiano a 5 Stars, not today, maybe next visit for a revisit, today I have empanadas, LOVE IT, unpuled pork, came in a very nice presentation, the pork it self tasted a little to the sweet side, maybe it’s just me I was expecting more flavor to salt side, the extra fat I couldn’t eat because of my high blood pressure, wine selection OK, price for one person with gratuity of 15% before I set down, OK, not so happy, it’s the end of their shift, it looks like a quite nite, I’m fed and happy with two glasses of wine, Alamos Malbec, OK, like I said , overall it’s OK

Really really tasty food. Always fresh and good quality. This isn’t a restaurant in which i would be reluctant to order seafood for example. Friendly staff and extremely short wait times. Overall very very good! Come here for great South American cuisine.

Love this taste of the Andes tucked away in Laurel Village. Dishes I'd recommend: empanadas (try the dipping sauces), ceviche, pollo saltado, plantains. Yummm.

PS skip the plain old french fries - not their strong suit. Stick to the super tasty Peruvian fare.

This place was incredible. The menu was easy to navigate and full of options. The food was incredibly delicious. My wife and I had ceviche, a pork, and a chicken dish. It reminded us of our trips to Latin America and was a great dining experience. I’m so glad we found this place while visiting San Francisco!

The food is made from fresh, quality ingredients and prepared well. The space is casual. More of a lunch type setting. But they do serve wine, beer and sangria! I'll be back.

This place had the best cubano in town at one point sadly that is not the case now. I visited from San Diego and made it a point to come by. Ended up throwing away the sandwich and fries as they were soggy. The cilantro crema consistence was off and separating it seemed as if it was spoiled.

The drunk at the table next to me! I usually enjoy the respite of a comfort meal at Artesano. Tonight after a long and exhausting 12 hour day I came to eat my first full meal of the day only to be harrassed by a drunk enabled by Artesano staff who enabled him by serving him drink after drink!

Feedback for the owners - Cuban food is amazing. Not sure why you had to make your version of it so bland. Under-spiced, under-salted and just slightly below average, I was so excited about trying it, but was disappointed and didn't enjoy it. Be proud of the authentic food and start making it if you want to please the SF foodies crowd!

Good food, good service. Nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing special either. A solid restaurant with an interesting decor of the venue.

Ordered a Lomo Saltado ($20) for lunch at the restaurant, and it came out so fast! The meat / fries / onions / tomatoes / rice ratio was perfect. At some places up in SF they give you like 3 pieces of meat over an infinite bed of french fries. I asked for some chimichurri on the side, and I practically licked my plate clean. Would definitely come back to try the rest of their menu!

Parking was also really easy, there are a ton of metered spots in front of the place.

Really nice place to eat. Absolutely plan to come back for a nice comfortable meal. We got the Ceviche with shrimp and snapper, a Cubano sandwich for me, and the steak for my wife. The steak was tender, and the mashed potatoes were great. The Cubano was delicious. The Ceviche was really interesting, we've never had one quite like that before, with the yam, but really enjoyed it.

This place was dissapointing. It had a nice vibe to it, friendly staff, good service and the Peruvian based food had good presentation. We had the "Un-pulled pork" and the "Saltado de Camaron." We both felt that the food was rather bland. It definitely needed some salt but more importantly it needed spices. Just too plain tasting.

I also had the BBQ ribs which were okay. Nothing special. Not worth going back.

Just okay. I was really craving lomo saltado and after driving from another Peruvian restaurant on Polk because I didn't want to pay $40 for a dish I landed here. Unfortunately I probably won't be going back. I ordered one beef and one cheese empanada. They honestly tasted like someone just shoved meat and cheese into a puff pastry. The sauces they served with it were weird. An odd onion side and cheese sauce? And finally for the lomo saltado, presentation is great but flavor is honestly lacking. Everything is bland. There is no flavor explosion, no spice, no heat. Just lacking. Portion

First time here and it was good.

We started off with fried sweet plaintains, crisp yucca frites, and a plate with three skewers of grilled shrimps that had a nice flavor. Oh, and two Hoennstreffe wheat beers.

Then we enjoyed the paella and a veggie soup with yummy yams, broccoli, string beans, onions, carrots in a flavorful broth.
Truth be told, the paella was a bit salty.

And two Lagunitas IPA frosties rounded out our lunch.

Customer service: ok.

We had to ask for extra spoons as the paella and veggie broth had serving spoons only.

Easy $100 lunch with out tip.

Bathrooms: clean.

Let's start off with I love the food. And I love having a Latin-Caribbean alternative in my neighborhood. But the service leaves something to be desired. Or, to be more precise, the consistency of the service leaves something to be desired. I have had some of the best service I have received at Artesano. Like the time the evening manager kept the restaurant open for ourselves and some out-of-town guests past the posted closing time.

And some of the worst. Like the time I sat at the counter in the evening with no one coming over to either take my order or serve me. And I asked in

This spot is so AMAZING, it's rare to come by a restaurant that has good food and service they have both!! I ordered a mango and orange agua fresca, the churrasco steak with a side of French fries, truffle Mac n cheese, and to top it off a bread pudding! You would have to try it yourself you will not regret it one bit! So flavorful will be coming again!!

My dentist is right across from this place so I've walked by it a couple times pre-COVID. Never thought to try it because I cook my own lomo or aji 'cause I'm cheap and these sort of restaurants tend to be out of my budget.

Fast forward a year and we're in the 2nd (or 3rd? Extended?) stage of our lockdown. I'm hard craving some home cooked food and would die for a rotisserie chicken. I thought I was being smart by not adding a Costco chicken to my cart since I never, ever finish it. But here I was in desperate need for some perfectly moist, tender bird.

** The following review reflects my delivery experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. **

I know I've seen this Brazilian spot in the shopping center on California in Laurel Heights and was meaning to try it. My flimsy excuse was that I associate Brazilian cuisine with a whole lotta meat rotating on a spit, which I know was not a fair observation, but hey, I have to live with my global culinary ignorance. It's just that I had no idea it would take a pandemic to provide me with the impetus, but maybe that was a blessing in disguise.

That's because I feel like I could now come here

Artesano is one of my husband's favorite eateries. He introduced it to me by way of the unpulled pork a few years ago. Since then, we have dined there numerous times.

Recently, we tried to dine al fresco here after running errands nearby. But we ended up eating the meals back at home because it was a lot more comfortable.

We ordered the unpulled pork and the chicken skewers. While I really liked the unpulled pork dish in the past, this time, I found the chicken skewers to be more of my current taste due to the delicious flavors and yummy accompaniments like the plantains and pickled slaw
