CrossFit is a highly effective regimen of continuously-varied functional movements from diverse fields (including gymnastics, strength & conditioning, weightlifting, running/rowing) and executes them at high intensity to achieve broad-based fitness. It is the primary strength and conditioning program used by many professional athletes, firefighters, police, military, and a growing percent of the general public.
Agoge was the direct descendant of the first CrossFit affiliate in the world! In fact, its legal name was still CrossFit North, which was the very first of the now 15,000(!) affiliates worldwide, as documented in Wikipedia's history of CrossFit. Our history was also described in a brief 2009 article and its related video featuring two of the original founders (the third being our former partner Nick Nibler).
I was growing bored of my normal gym routine and finding it difficult to make it on a regular basis. I had plateaued in both my weight loss as well as improvements to my overall health. A friend of mine had suggested I stop by a crossfit gym, but all the people I knew who had done crossfit were in amazing shape, far removed from where I was.
Doing CrossFit is certainly a step in the right direction - but DIET is a huge factor in determining how fast you will progress toward your fitness goals. We often observe that some new members lose large amounts of weight and/or get much stronger - sometimes in just a few months - while others who start at the same time show relatively little improvement.

Working out and taking care of yourself is even more challenging than usual with the advent of Covid-19, which is why I'm so glad to be a part of Agoge's fitness community. When everything was on lockdown, I did manage to workout at home, thanks to the daily email's they sent with home-gym-friendly workouts that required minimal equipment. You know they take *your commitment* seriously when the gym even loans items out to members who do not have gear of their own. My fiancé and I came to this box while visiting for the holidays and we had a great time. The programming was fun and the coach Vince was friendly and knowledgeable. We met the owners and they were also so welcoming. The members all introduced themselves and made us feel right at home. We will be back any time we are visiting Woodinville.

The first thing that stood out to me about Agoge was on their webpage, "The program is easily scalable, making it perfect for any committed individual regardless of age or experience." This was exactly what I was looking for - a program stringent enough to be challenging, but flexible enough that it wouldn't leave me crippled or (maybe worse?) disheartened.
First, there's the Facilities - It's big enough and there's always enough room/equipment. Even when there are 20 people there on a weekend.
The quality of the Coaching Staff is also very important to me.

I've been at Agoge for about 2 years now. I'm a 72 year old retired guy, old multi-sport jock, old gym-rat back in the day and learning new tricks from owner Kathy Price. Agoge is old too, look it up, fascinating. At Agoge, I have a personal trainer in a group workout. Kathy and her coaches focus on making sure I am always using the proper techniques for each exercise. And also making sure that I am not overdoing it by suggesting modified techniques and exercises for the ones that are too difficult for me. She and her coaches are a real blessing.

I’ve been a member at several gyms over the years, but at Agoge you get more than a gym...you get a family. Kathy and the other coaches are always watching to make sure you’re meeting your goals while first learning proper skills and technic. The other members are all supportive of each other and friendly. The gym is always clean and well equipped for all levels of fitness. I can actually say that I love going to my gym!

I have been at Agoge since September 2015. I wanted to get into CrossFit because I had a little extra baby weight -- and by that I mean I had a baby 5 years ago who was finally off to Kindergarten and I wanted people to stop asking me when my due date was. I am now stronger and leaner. Agoge meet me where I was in my journey and helped me improve myself on my time over time.
I attend both Crossfit and CardioFit classes, and enjoy both for their differences - strength v. cardio respectively.

Kathy, Mike, Johnny and all the other trainers at Agoge helped introduce me to CrossFit and totally got me hooked! They are all extremely knowledgable, patient and invested in making you better...Not to mention really fun to workout with. Agoge has the best community, and going to the gym has turned into something I look forward to everyday! I cannot say enough about what the Agoge community has meant to me. From the moment that I walked into the gym a few years back I felt welcomed and supported and that feeling has only grown stronger over the years. Looking for a place to work out? Give this gym a try. First of all, the coaching is outstanding. They pay attention to the details, working with you on technique, form, diet, and mobility. They are encouraging but they also challenge you. The members though make this a fun place to work out. There is a camaraderie among the membership that is encouraging and challenging; we all seem to push each other to do just one more.
This isn’t a place for the faint of heart, but if you want to have a tough workout yet still have a good time and make some friends, this is the place for you.

Great coaches, great people, great facility. Way better than any "fitness" gym. Crossfit actually gets you fit for whatever you want to do. Kathy, Mike, Johnny and the rest of the coaches will train you and help you reach your fitness goals. I've gotten stronger and have better mobility than I ever had in high school or college. Agoge has greatly changed my family's life. My husband joined back in March of 2011. At that time, he was considerably over-weight, had numerous health concerns, and was generally unfit. He was 30. I was then also 30 and pregnant with our second child. As the months ticked by, I noticed how much fun my once-sedentary husband was having getting up early in the morning for his work-outs. WOW! I have to say Crossfit is everything John P. says it is and more....for my husband. I know, I know I shouldn't write this for him, but I just have to. It has literally changed our life together. He is beyond happy with the gym, the employees and the workouts. Although he says they are tough, he comes home so happy (and sweaty) he has so much more energy, he sleeps like a baby (but still snores like a freight train) and the best part? He likes working out again! He hadn't been to a gym in over 5 years. Crossfit has really helped him enjoy working out and care about his well being

I don't know what to say. I Started Crossfit because I was turning 30 with my 2nd child on the way.
