Downtown at your doorstep, The Hickory Street Apartments offers sixteen upscale, green, energy efficient apartments: eleven two-bedrooms on our second floor and three two-bedrooms and two one-bedrooms on the first floor.
All of our single family rental properties are in Champaign's only designated historic neighborhood, the Sesquicentennial Neighborhood. This is the oldest neighborhood in Champaign and is located adjacent to and directly west of downtown Champaign. Downtown Champaign sprung into existence when that new thing, the railroad, came through in 1854.

I rented from RDI Properties from August 2018-July 2019. The landlord has quite a few houses and other properties in Downtown Champaign and the adjacent neighborhoods. Michael and Elizabeth are absolutely excellent landlords, both run the property together and to speak to the quality of their apartments, they are the ones that have seen to the restoration of these older homes and actually live in one of them. The leasing office is very close to all of their properties. Whenever I've had issues (leaky roof, pests, bike issues), Michael has been incredibly responsive, and issues have been solved

I lived in one of RDI's Hickory apartments for two years, from 2019-2021, and it was a great experience. Maintenance calls were answered quickly, there were no weird or unexpected fees, and utility bills were low. I was really grateful for the robust internet and generous square footage when the pandemic happened and I had to spend so much time at home. The apartment was a great value for the money, and I can't recommend this company enough.

I lived with RDI for 6 years in 4 different properties. All of the properties were pretty well taken care of and all included in unit W/D (I think that's true of all properties). Any repair requests were taken care of very quickly and efficiently. Michael and Elizabeth are very personable and easy going. They are wonderful to talk to and Michael loves to talk about the downtown Champaign area (where most/all of their properties are). They also sometimes did updates or renovations on properties and were great at communicating that information. They also did a great job of passing along information

Out of everywhere that I have rented from, RDI Properties has simply been the best. Every member of their staff consistently goes above and beyond in anything and everything that they do.
•Any maintenance issue is dealt with promptly.
•Michael even notifies tenants by email if there is anything out of the ordinary going on near your apartment (i.e. Marathon route, road closings, construction, etc).
•I lost my engagement ring and they even went way out of their way to review the security footage in the parking garage and lobby to try to help me determine when I was last wearing it.

I have lived in the Quarters on Neil and Columbia for three years now and love it. The property in general is gorgeous and well-kept. My individual apartment is wonderful - the high ceilings, attention to detail in terms of fixtures, and paint colors are warm, elegant, yet modern. There is wonderful sound proofing between adjacent apartments (although I would recommend the 5th floor because you can hear footsteps of the tenants above you on lower floors).

I rented an apartment from RDI Properties in 2009 and when I returned to the area in 2015, I immediately thought to email Michael for available properties. We've lived in the same apartment for the last three years and signed our lease again for another year. Michael and his staff are very responsive to our questions and needs regarding the apartment. He keeps his tenants informed about a variety of things such as what we can recycle to construction updates. RDI Properties is an ideal option for adults who may enjoy living near the downtown area and the quaint neighborhoods surrounding it.

After moving out of an apartment complex that started off well and progressively got worse and worse, we could not be happier now with RDI! The property managers are extremely responsive. We had a partial power outage due to a tree rubbing on a power line over time, and a manager was here with an extension cord within ten minutes so we could save our food. Any problem we have gets fixed quickly. Some of the houses they rent (including our own) are beautiful old homes, which do come with some problems requiring frequent maintenance, but we have not missed apartment living at all.
