Campground is fairly pretty to look at, but some of the staff's attitude left us a sour taste in our mouth. Be careful not to screw up, or be prepared for some attitude. Internet is very slow and constantly breaks down. Other than that, most of the other residences and staff are friendly, wave, and generally act descent to their neighbors and or patrons.

Must go and stay... It was so relaxing and peaceful. It was very beautiful the way you camped with the lay of the land not the other way around... Snuggled in the thickness of trees and lovely mountain laurels was neat little camp sites people had fire pits lights and plenty of laughing and family down to earth fun. Everyone was very nice and polite. Also have to add this ...VERY CLEAN BATHHOUSES...as the campground was clean to ... I will be back Raccoon Holler...

We have been camping at Raccoon Holler for the month of August. This is a quiet peaceful place to enjoy cooler weather. The campers are friendly and helpful. Last Saturday night was an unusual event. The weather was perfect with a full moon shining. When all of a sudden we heard a LOUD thump and the whole motor home shook. Drawers came open and cover on air conditioner vent fell onto the bed.
Before we could gather our wits from the shock, there were at least a dozen fellow campers there to check on us. About 50 feet away across the street a tree had broken off about 10 feet up the trunk. The

We have been coming 30 years plus , and never been bumped off a spot that we had rented two months before we came . We had been here back a few months ago and knew how hard it is to rent a spot . When Mr. Miller ran it we could count on him . We have a disabled daughter and we are on up in she and we loved the level grassy spot and even booked it through the week just to get it . We received no phone call about the change and found out when we got there . As my daughter is partially paralyzed it was hard for her to walk on the large gravel on the spot they substituted for us and I wouldn’t have

This place is beautiful, but when I inquired as to their pet policy for a family member interested in buying, I was told my leashed and well behaved Rottweiler would be "frowned upon ". Yeah. Sad.
If I'm following the rules, my dog is on leash, utd on shots, and neutered, better behaved than most kids at this campground, why should his breed matter??
Livid.

My husband and I dropped in here for a single overnight of primitive camping after a last minute decision to go to the mountains and do some exploring/property scouting. This is mainly an camper/trailer park with RV hookups, but they do have a small (3-4 site) area for primitive camping. My one complaint would be the light- there is GIANT BRIGHT streetlight right overtop of the camping area- not so 'primitive'... and kind of ruins the stars. I think it is to help people see the bathhouse- but honestly- people should have flashlights. Take that thing down, ya'll!

The campsite itself was great. The problem was the misinformation that was given. Website said that the sites were level, not even close. We called ahead of time and asked about fishing licenses and were told 2 different answers 2 different times. We were told there was swimming at the lake, but there was no place to swim. We were not told that there was an extra fee if we have AC. We did enjoy the site, just not the misinformation.
