Honey Bear is a family-friendly campground located in Boone, North Carolina. We are less than 3 miles from Appalachian State University and just over 4 from bustling downtown Boone. One of our local staff members will be happy to help you plan your vacation. Be sure to ask us about our favorite restaurants in the area - Boone is hotspot for good eats in the High Country!
Our campground also hosts a number of events throughout the season, including BBQs, karaoke, cornhole tournaments, haunted trails and zombie paintball. Even if you're just visiting for a regular weekend getaway, you can grab a latte at our full-service coffee shop, cast a line in our fishing pond, pull up a chair at our outdoor movie under the stars or give our famous "double swing" a try.

I’m not sure how this place has so many 5 star reviews. Our experience is much like the rest of the 1 star reviews. We were part of an 11 person group (including 5 children under the age of 10). There absolutely no way to get in touch with this campground.. there’s a number you can text but our first attempt to reach out to them was left unanswered. The weather for both days and nights is calling for 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms. We were attempting to reschedule for a different date if there was availability but the owner after being impossible to teach on phone, was rude in text.

Please do not waste your time or money making a reservation with this camp ground. The owners NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE AND NEVER RETURN VOICEMAILS. I hesitantly made reservations on line with hopes that my voicemails would be returned to work out the details and ask the questions I needed. I even texted the # as requested on their recording but no response. Fast forward to 3 weeks later when we are a couple of days away from our reservation and the weather for the Boone area is forecasting severe rain (1.5 inches) and thunderstorms. The only way I could ever get a response from the CG was through

Supposed to stay there Monday-Thursday and have planned this over a month ago. It will be thunderstorms the hole time so I wanted a refund and they can't refund a hole $40! We don't have a lot of money and they are money hungry people. This was supposed to be a fun trip for a 11 year Olds birthday and now we can't afford to do anything else because our place to stay budget has been cut almost in half!

I was there Sunday as Hurricane Fred was hitting the Gulf coast. It started raining about 3:15 on Sunday and didn't stop until 6 a.m. Wednesday. We had to move sites that morning. Kendra and Kyle were amazing hosts and did everything possible to accommodate our needs and wants. Kyle even help me back into the new site and level up and came back on Sunday to make sure I was properly hooked to my truck and everything else had been broken down to pull out. The campground is well kept and clean as is the bathhouse. Except for the normal children noise and the hurricane it was very quiet. This campground
