Wise Counsel & Comfort

We have only one ongoing support group currently, on Tuesday evenings at our 15th & E. Burnside office for those in recovery from substance abuse. We anticipate more support and therapy groups beginning early next year! We also offer regular groups to support clinicians - peer consultation, professional book studies, networking events.

There are many reasons and good times, for seeking therapy, and there's never a wrong time. Without question, therapy is called for when an individual is suffering severe symptoms (depression, anxiety, grief, etc.). If you are facing life circumstances that just seem overwhelming, that's a great time to find a good counselor to talk to.

I've served nearly a thousand clients and couples in my private practice, and it has been a great joy in my life. Sadly, because of a malpractice lawsuit and Board complaint, I am no longer permitted to practice my profession. I remain hopeful that I will be able to return to counseling, but that decision is in the hands of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists.

First, to create a place where community-minded mental health and wellness professionals would work cooperatively, supporting one another and supporting our community by providing professional, affordable services.

In Portland, even non-profit counseling agencies rarely charge less than $40 per session, and there are tens of thousands in our community who deserve access to professional mental health care as much as those who are financially stable and/or insured.Wise Counsel & Comfort exists to help insure that those services are available.
