Historically, a "tavern" was a place where people could gather for social occasions, to conduct business, or where a weary traveler would enjoy a home cooked meal. It is in this tradition the Piper's Tavern first opened its doors in 2001. Whether you're catching up with old friends, watching the big game, having dinner with the family, or grabbing a quick lunch, we are proud to be your "home away from home" for the past twenty years!.
Piper's is a place for everyone. Our casual and welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff will make anyone feel right at home from their first visit. We are a place where you can catch a game or live music while enjoying a satisfying meal and a good drink. Bringing good people, good friends, and families together for good times and great food is what we are all about.

Services
Food tastes better when you eat it with family. With that in mind, the partnership of Jimmy Powers and Dan Hurley have brought a family atmosphere to their restaurant for the past 20 years. Their family, food & hospitality vision have created a special environment that is now the foundation of what Piper's Tavern has become.
Thickly sliced crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, your choice of white, wheat, or rye bread. Grilled boneless chicken breast - rolled in a garlic-herb wrap with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar and our house sauce. Ask for it blackened! Fresh oven-roasted turkey breast and crispy bacon stacked on toast with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.
Bacon, jack & cheddar cheese, chipotle BBQ and fried onion straws served on a brioche bun. Homemade bratwurst, sauerkraut, muenster cheese, and brown mustard served on a brioche bun. Homemade Italian sausage, imported provolone cheese, hot pepper relish and marinara served on a brioche bun. Consuming raw or undercooked MEATS, POULTRY, SEAFOOD, SHELLFISH or EGGS may increase your RISK of food borne illness.
Grouper Fillet broiled with lemon and butter topped with oregano, parmesan breadcrumb blend served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Marinated flank steak stir fried with broccoli, onions, garlic and sesame sauce served over white rice. Creamy grits with Jack and Cheddar cheese served with jumbo shrimp, sauteed with garlic, bacon, green onions and mushrooms - a local favorite.

I have been going to Piper's for lunch by myself since I moved to Raleigh. At first I really enjoyed the food and the service but over the past 2 months the service has gone downhill and their prices have escalated. Last time I was there I waited 10 minutes before anyone came over to help me although there were several "waitstaff" cleaning tables. In fact they were so close to me I got sprayed slightly with the cleaner they were using on the tables. Today I came in and asked for a booth and there were 2 available. Of course since I was by myself the dark haired woman with a

We came here late after doing a corn maze and this was one of the few places open. There weren't a lot of people inside so we were able to social distance. The food hit the spot. You know fries are good when you eat them all without ketchup! I also ordered the Smoke house Burger and it was cooked to order and delicious. The bacon was a little overbooked for my liking but other than that the burger was great! I'd come back!

I went to The Piper's Tavern on Sunday 3 October for lunch. They had these well shaded seats on the outside that were really nice to be in, especially on a sunny warm fall afternoon. We had a lovely time getting lunch and the service was spot on. Highly recommend! Also, I got there real hungry and my salad was so huge I made 2 meals of it. It is a good sized portion!

My wife, daughter and I went to Piper's for the first time. We had my dad and step mom with us as well. We had hush puppies and wings as an appetizer. The hush puppies were more like egg rolls, but they were very good. The wings were excellent as well.
I had the chicken cordon blue and it was outstanding! My wife had a patty melt and it was also very good. We will definitely be returning for a future visit!

The people who work here are very friendly and you do feel welcome. However, the efficiency of both food and service needs some work. We ordered the homemade garnaalkroketten, they were tasty but had not been warmed thouroughly. This was the case with the table next to us too. Furthermore, I had ordered a side dish, this dish never arrived even after reminding the server. We also ordered a bottle of wine, the server brought out the wine already open. Usually, it is opened at the table to show transparency. It was also ice cold, near frozen.
Our table was not the only table that had issues. Nearly

Met a few coworkers here after work and the service was very good and our waitress was very attentive.
I did get the Chef's salad... it was full of deli meat, like overwhelming deli meat that overpowered the salad. Chefs salad usually does not have this type of meat on it. The ranch dressing was pretty decent!
I also had the French onion soup. It was pretty bland and lacked salt. The cheese hardened up super fast and became a big bowl of hard cheese. I would go back for the drinks but not for the food.

BEEF OR CHICKEN PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
A Piper's Tavern Specialty! Thinly shaved sirloin or chicken, grilled and served with peppers, onions and mushrooms on a hoagie with provolone cheese. The secret's in the sauce - making this an authentic original. This is what the menu says... it was a hamburger with no seasoning no sauce no flavor. Fries were good! Staff nice. They were nice to our pup and that will always get you points.

My boyfriend and his dad used to eat here ALLL the time when his dad lived here. They always loved the service and the food. I was glad when he introduced me to it because the food is tasty and the service is even better. We haven't dined in for a long while though so idk if the service is different now. We recently got curbside pick up though during pandemic and I must say, the service through pickup was outstanding. They were also very organized when you pull up. The man on the phone was super friendly from start to finish, all the way until he brought out our food. I will say the one disappointment

Long overdue review regarding a Birthday celebration in February. Located on Falls of Neuse approximately 1/2 mile South of I 540. It has ample parking and service inside and outside.
We opted for outdoor seating in order to limit exposure to others. I was impressed with their Covid protocols: Sanitizer station, masks, cleaning of tables&chairs. -5 stars.
We had a party of eight and the service was fairly good. Our order consisted of mainly appetizers and pizzas and the food was good.-4 stars. Prices are slightly elevated, but we had an enjoyable time.

A salad with salmon is my go-to lunch at a new place and I ordered the Caesar salad. The salmon was a generous piece, but the salad was the blandest Caesar I've ever had. There was no tartness from lemon, no saltiness from cheese and no anchovy taste at all; all of which were supposed to be in this dressing.
The service was attentive and the patio heaters made the outdoor seating very comfortable. Neither made up for the food unfortunately.

We opted for Piper's b/c they offer outdoor dining during a pandemic. The outdoor heaters were a welcoming sight, however they didn't really keep the space warm. Bummed that the ceiling heater wasn't operating that sure would have helped with the chill; especially since we were sitting on metal chairs. Once we settled in it took roughly 7 minutes for our server to pop over and grab our drink order. After another 7 or so minutes we were able to get our drinks and place our order. Concerned about our rough start, I had low expectations about our food. It came out quickly , presentation

Food was sub par. Staff ignored us and we were just about to leave when the rude hostess seated my party of four for lunch. Our waitress had an attitude and we had to flag her down to refill our empty water and tea glasses. That was our only interaction with her.
The New England clam chowder (supposedly the "soup of the day") was curdled, the tomato basil quiche (supposedly "quiche of the day") was bland and tasted old as though it had been made the day before and the pizza tasted like it came from the frozen food aisle.

Since Restaurants have opened again due to COVID, I am very careful where I eat for my safety and health as well as my families. Pipers Tavern has a large amount of seating outdoors which brought much relief. We went on a Wednesday, around 4:30 and it was rather busy and once I ordered my food, I could see why! All of the food was delicious. Serving size was more than adequate for the price and our server was very efficient. I will definitely be going back in the near future!

Covid-era update. This is the first meal I have had IN a restaurant since this whole virus stuff started. Am happy to report that it was a terrific experience! They have a good amount of outdoor patio seating, and this Wednesday evening was cloudy and not too hot. Perfectly comfortable. I do believe they were seating inside as well, but we stayed out.
Three of us enjoyed very good service by a friendly gal and a friendly guy who delivered our food. It was so nice to have a glass of wine and a meal that I didn't have to pour or prepare! (some things I sure used to take for granted!)

I can recommend staying at The Pipers. The building is beautiful, the room was simple but clean and we didn't hear anything from the pub at night (or day). The pub has a nice atmosphere and a large selection of drinks. From what my friends told me the food is also very good, the selection of vegetarian or vegan food is very limited though. What was a little negative for me was the service. The people were friendly but very unorganized and stressed. They forgot our orders and questions several times.
