Excellent food and great prices. I had the combo with chicken and lamb Tikka. The lamb was tender tho needed a little salt. The chicken was excellent. I got the combo plus naan and raita and iced tea for $24. Not bad for DTLA

Food was too watery, almost no rice given so it's unbalanced too, rice seemed reheated.
Sag paneer - rice was stale and tasted like it was just remicrowaved. Spinach was soggy and whole thing was inedibly flavorless
Mango lassi- good but arrived warm. I don't live that far away
Garlic Naan- tastes plain and was so stale and hard

Great quality fast casual Indian food for the price! They're located in a relatively unassuming location next to Lemonade in the underground City National Plaza food court, but do not sleep on this place. I ordered for pickup through Ritual and my order was ready in less than 10 min. Pickup was super quick and the staff was friendly.

I got the curry plate, which includes your choice of two items and rice. This is the perfect thing to get if you want to sample a couple things on their menu and can't decide. I got the chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer. The saag paneer totally blew

Really great Indian food! Took my whole family everyone tried something different. I enjoyed the Indian Burrito & Spiced Fries! Personally enjoyed the Lentil Soup and Chicken Curry, it wasn’t to spicy and the rice was cooked well. It’s hard to find good take out in dtla so I’ll def. be back for more🤘🏻Great price for everything we got! Lots of food they weren’t stingy. A Must Try

I wish they don't give your super burnt and hard naan (so it's bitter from black char at the back of naan and can't eat when it's too hard)...too much soup or liquid from whatever option you order makes the rice too soggy, I was expecting soft n fluffy basmati rice on its own but will come back since the chicken tikka masala tasted really good and just right amount of spicy (only place I have tried chicken tikka masala ever so I have to find other fast food Indian places to compare with)...I like how they have my favorite soda: Fuze tea...

I go to this outstanding restaurant every couple of days as I like the good mood that is unique to this place. The crew is highly attentive and skilfull. The service is exceptionally efficient. Not to mention, the food they serve is highly distinguished. I have been there often and I was always delighted. The cost is honest. I highly recommend this place to to all.

I was happy to know this opened up already and excited to order my usual tikka misala combo which comes with the bread and soda, extra naan bread and mango lassi. When I picked up my food I reminded the staff I want the plain naan bread. She answered no problem. So I walked back to my office about 2 blocks far and when I was about to eat viola! no bread, no soda. I was so hungry that I had to eat first and went back even for just my nan bread since I've been craving for it. And they gave me one old and hard naan. Hmmm, very disappointed. Not sure if I'll come back.

Really poor Indian food. I tried 4 different curries and they were all watery and tasted bland. The only reason it gets two stars is that the samosas were actually ok. Do not recommend

This place really blew my expectations! Food was so good served pretty quick and gave me a lunch I'll definitely be coming back for again. Employees were kind and of course doing all things safe and socially distanced. Everything looks really clean and smells amazing. I'd probably try one of everything on the menu so far only did the combo with two of any of their items. Highly recommend trying this

I admire this place! They provide awesome dishes, their menu is varied, The cook in that restaurant is a professional, I love a lot eating all their dishes. The dishes are always of high class, the service towards the clients is helpful. I often go to this restaurant and I was never unhappy. I recommend this place.

Good, delicious food with affordable prices. Very near to the museum of contemporary art. I had samosas, and being from India, I can say they were really good. Fresh food, recommended stop for hungry tummies.

We lost our favorite Indian restaurant (closed) and have been searching for a wonderful replacement. I think we found it Saffron! The food was just superb and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Wow! The construction of the mini-mall site is sort of off-putting but don't let that deter you from trying this Westside Gem!

Not bad in a pinch. I like having a contemporary, fast food Indian spot for a lunch option. But I really miss the Beverly Hills locale. It was clean, contemporary, had its own seating and the menu & food was different and better - really good chicken tikka masala & great samosas.

Usually get the Tikka masala today decided on the peeli daal. Lentil stew really hit the spot and the garlic naan great as ever. The minty sort of spicy sauce is great for dipping.

I work a couple of blocks away from this Saffron location. I generally like Indian food, so having a "fast food" Indian food option is really great in breaking up the monotony of the endless salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc.

For being a "fast food" type of joint, Saffron's food consistently tastes fresh, is served hot, and orders are correct. My usual go-to order is the two-curry plate with Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer. It comes with your choice of rice or salad (with two dressing options). I love the rice, but lately I've been opting for the salad since

I love the food here. The staff is extremely friendly (they now know me by first name :D) I was recommended this place by a co-worker who is Indian and she said I would like it if I like spicy food and yes, I do.

I get the Curry Chicken almost all the time - Love Curry. The Garlic Naan bread is amazing. I bring my friends and recommend this too all my colleagues. Heck, may stop by here today again! Great food, friendly staff and reasonable price - what more can you ask for! :D
(2 enthusiastic thumbs up!)

This was a pleasant surprise today. I work near the City National Plaza - and choices for lunch are decent, even if I over--visit each one. Passed by Saffron many times wanting to stop in - today I did.

Now, I am not an expert on Indian food, by any means. But I wanted a flavorful chicken - and went with their Chicken Daal and the spinach/cheese dish (cannot remember the name) - and both were really damn good. One way to judge a place is by how they treat their rice - and their brown rice was fluffy (as opposed to crunchy, dry). A piece of Garlic Naan rounded it out.

Fast, quality Indian food is typically really hard to come by as a regular lunch option, and Saffron hits both marks.

Usually get the two item combo with double chicken tikka masala and salad (love this option!). One item combo usually enough when you're getting salad, but I would surmise that if you got rice that it would be pretty heavy. Have had the chicken curry here, not as big of a fan. Naan is pretty solid too, on the occasion that I actually get it.

Overall, I'm not saying Saffron is gonna blow anyone's minds away as far as the food goes. But as far as a quick lunch option

For a fast service lunch spot, Saffron is pretty hard to beat. Lots of flavor, nothing fancy, and you are back at the grind stone in the bat of a sag paneer eyelash.

Quick service and decent prices keep me coming back. Also, flavor.

It's right below the City National Bank/ Paul Hastings Plaza, so you can either eat your lunch down in the air conditioned bowls of the underground area, or bring it up to the pleasant outdoor area.

The food is fine. I come here sometimes. The chicken is always dried out. In the last six months or so, they've had some rude people working the front. I placed an order via Ritual here for the second time. This second time was mostly to get the points.
The app was showing that the order was still pending, after I had picked it up. I called Saffron just to see if there was something that the restaurant does to confirm that the order was picked up, since, how would I know how it works on their end.
The woman who answered the phone told she she couldn't change the app. What?

QUICK SERVICE DURING THE DTLA LUNCH RUSH

Saffron is definitely a pleasant find as I was strolling in the underground food court by the City National Building. I normally don't come to this food court for lunch and was surprised by the number of restaurants inside this food court. While there was only one cashier and a long line by the counter, I was able to place my order fairly quickly.

Menu is fairly simple.
2 items combo - pick 2 and either rice or salad
1 item (bowl) - pick 1 item with rice

You can upgrade your order and get a piece of Garlic/Plain Naan (Bread) and Fountain Drink

I've tried to give this place numerous chances but I'm always very disappointed. I always order the chicken tikka masala and it's never good. Today was the worst. It didn't even resemble chicken tikka masala in any way at all. It was very greasy (you can see the pool of grease in the photo I uploaded) and it tasted more like Mexican chicken colorado (but not even a good version of that either).

I have, however, gone to the Indus location at 7th and Fig and am never disappointed there. It's just that 5th and Flower is closer so I tried that one more often. I will

No brown rice option here, unlike the other branch on Grand. The portion here was also smaller.

When you're grabbing condiments, the green one is a yummy cooling one, while the tan colored one tastes like something inedible -- ack!

Indian for the Non-Indian
As a "noob" of Indian cuisine I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food, I can only speak to what it tastes like on my palate. I basically stick to the Chicken Masala or the Chicken Curry. Both wonderful dishes on their own and in combination of the garlic naan that they have. There are pros and cons to the chicken curry though. The chicken is cooked thru a little better so the chicken is more tender and moist but if you are going into a client meeting in the afternoon, don't eat it for lunch.

Hot and Cool
Be aware, the spicy sauce, drum roll please

The Yoshinoya of Indian Food.

I like the idea of fast food Indian and I think Saffron execute the concept pretty well. They have bowls priced at $6.45 or you can get a combo with 2 types of curry + rice for a little bit more moolah.

I've tried 2/4 of their vegetarian entrees: the Tofu Tikki Masala and Saag Paneer. Both entrees smells good and tasted delicious. My favorite is the Saag Paneer. It's flavorful and more than decent for a work lunch. The down side with this place is I dont think you get value for your buck. The bowls are kind of small for $7. However, you could always add
