Services
Dr. Samaddar comes from a long line of medical professionals. She is a third-generation doctor on both sides of her family, and on her mother's side are several dentists. As a result, she found her passion for dentistry early in life, helping out in her mother's dental office as early as the age of seven.
Since most of the conditions that negatively affect your smile can be avoided with regular care, the best way to keep your smile beautiful for life is by preventing issues before they ever begin. Dr. Samaddar and her team will answer your questions about proper hygiene and provide you with the most comprehensive, advanced, and minimally invasive preventive dentistry options.
Your comprehensive dental appointment at the South Capitol Smile Center will include time with Nina, our highly experienced Registered Dental Hygienist. She has been a longtime member of our team, and she cares about assisting you in long term dental health. She will evaluate your gum tissue and check for any areas of need, including helping take necessary films, photos and screenings.
Did you know that 70% of all adults have periodontal disease in some form during the course of their lives, often without even realizing it? While it's responsible for adult tooth loss, halitosis, and bleeding and receding gums, periodontal disease can easily be prevented with proper hygiene, regular home care and professional treatment.
If it has been recommended to have your wisdom teeth out and you have been putting off their removal, Dr. Samaddar and the South Capitol Smile Center team can help. At some point in life, some people require their wisdom teeth to be extracted, even if they are not experiencing complications. Many painful and lasting problems can eventually occur due to the arrival of wisdom teeth.

Dr. Samaddar and her team are awesome. They went above and beyond to help me in an emergent situation. They were genuinely compassionate and understanding. Thankful they made the best out of a bad situation for me.

Worst dental experience I have ever had. During a routine cavity fill I was offered an on the split CAP because the dentist and her specialist thought the cavity was further along and might require a root canal. She and the specialist shaved my tooth and used a "new technology" and they deserved it to provide me a new tooth/aka a cap working an hour. Basically a 3D print. Well, the specialist screwed up the 3D tooth and it wouldn't fit into my mouth correctly. We shaved the fake tooth multiple times instead of doing it over. I ended up with what felt like a flat board laying in

Know what's sad? I've seen 3 different dentists after discontinuing this dental place. Remember my review where the dentist said I had 5 cavities??

The review I left was over 4 years ago and all the dental visits I've gone to with 3 different dentists. None of them said I have cavities.

Last dentist visit was today with a dentist who has stellar reviews and he said "no cavities".

My good teeth could have been destroyed over nothing. For what? For poor knowledge? Or for money?

If 3 dentists said no cavities, there's something wrong with 1 that says so

I am grateful I found Dr. Sheila Samaddar and her whole staff to be my family dental care provider. They have managed complicated needs for me and simple needs for my small children with equal vigor. I happily recommend this practice for adults and children!

EDIT: I encourage you to read some other reviews on here with extreme skepticism because this office definitely astroturfs on Google reviews.

I wasn't going to leave a review, but now I see that my issue is part of a larger trend and I feel it's necessary to add my voice to the chorus of concern regarding the billing practices of this office.

First off, I want to be clear that I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The service I received while in the chair was not amazing but certainly acceptable.

However, this office was casual in estimating coverage of services to the point

I have gone to this dentist for the past 2.5 years now however their clinic is out of my network which is unfortunate and my husband and I had to pay out of pocket for procedures (Peoples comments below - I feel ya). However, when I did go, the staff were so accommodating with my schedule and let me know when openings were available if someone cancelled last minute. Fortunately I lived in walking distance from the clinic so the convenience was a major factor. Although if you do not live close by, you have to find parking in the neighborhood I believe, unless there is a parking lot in the back

Dr. Samaddar and the staff are very friendly, it is easy to schedule an appointment, the atmosphere in the practice is nice, therefore I gave two stars instead of one. However, Dr. Samaddar repeatedly told me to get 5 (!!) cavities fixed which have not been confirmed by two other dentists that I have seen in the meantime (quote of one of them: "I'm not going to drill into a healthy tooth!").
When she realized that I didn't want to get the "cavities" fixed, she then strongly recommended me to get Invisalign which I also don't need, again confirmed by the two other dentists. I unfortunately got

Dr. Samaddar and her staff are phenomenal!! I have been her patient since 2010 and could not imagine going anywhere else for my dental care. I just started Invisalign and am looking forward to the results!! Also, every specialist that Dr. Samaddar has recommended has been top notch. Dr. Samaddar constantly updates the technology in her office and is very adept in the usage. She truly cares about her patients and makes each visit very relaxing with her knowledge, skills, and warm personality. I feel like family every time I'm at South Capitol Smile Center. Thank you for taking excellent care

Disingenuous and misleading. On the recommendation of a family friend, my wife called to make an appointment for our two-year-old and to see if they accepted our insurance - which they affirmed they did. However they withheld the fact that they're out-of-network ... which they're aware of because they're out-of-network for every insurer. After we received a bill for the appointment, I called back, I spoke to their business manager, Crystal. She seemed to have dealt with this situation pretty often because she had some lovely canned responses for me. Here's an idea: if you have

My wife does not have very good teeth. It is a combination of bad genes and having poor dental care while growing up. When we moved to D.C., in 2010, we were looking for a dentist and a work colleague suggested South Capitol Smile Center. I was still using my old dentist, who I was able to see on work trips, but my wife went to have a cleaning and initial evaluation done. They did a thorough job pointing out all the issues and work that could/should be done and my wife came home with a treatment plan that outlined quite a number of dental procedures – most being of the crown/inlay variety. South Capitol Smile Center (SCSC) should be avoided at all costs. While the doctor is perfectly pleasant, the office's business practices are shady, immoral and unethical, in my judgment. First, SCSC was fully aware that my children were out-of-network, but they never alerted me to this until after the assistant literally led my child into the procedure room. Only then did the front let me know this fact, and, for the first time, put a Proposed Treatment Plan in front of me. Then, SCSC grossly over-estimated the amount my insurance would pay - because I was out of network - which, of course

My husband and I have seen Dr. Samaddar for regular cleanings/check-ups as well as for more extensive work, namely fillings and crowns/onlays. I have found her and her office to be stellar in their service.

Dr. Samaddar offers same-day onlays/inlays/crowns (look up CEREC for more info). It's amazing, truly amazing. I expected to have to make two appointments, and nope, just one.

When having a dental emergency I reached out to the doctor via her email because I was having a mild panic attack and a phone call leading a receptionist/voicemail wasn't going to cut it for me. I received

Who is Ronnail R.? Federal Employees don't currently get dental - the program is only for medical. Some agencies do offer dental at a discount however.

My fiance and I go here because it is close to our house and we love it. It's a great dentistry. The receptionist will go to great lengths to make sure that everything is okay.

My wife got crowns, and the dentist gave out her cell number to have her call her if anything arises.

I love this place. Great people, and very nice Dentists!

I'm looking for a new dentist and I just called this location. Kelly W stated this location accepts just about all insurances, well I've heard otherwise. They don't take my insurance and I'm a paid Federal government worker -what's up with that?
