Originally from Long Island, New York, Dean followed that dream to Raleigh, NC and the rest is history.

I would seduce a chef for one of these recipes. This place is good. I was obsessed with it seven years ago and just moved back and picked up my old favorite tonight. Seemed different. Great place but I do have some comments it is possible my tastes have changed in this long amount of time. But I remember the pasta Assaggio's being delicious in a way I was obsessed with it and this time it seems like it was ok, but it wasn't necessarily good and there was a huge layer of cheese on top so I'm gonna have to throw it away which sucks for $20. It comes with a salad and garlic knots and

Well this is a retraction of a review I posted previously and this is not the restaurant we were at, spelled almost the same but wrong location. My apologies to the owner and those who read it. This place is awesome! We tried their pizza as it's a must to find pizza that checks all the boxes. So far it has taken over the number 1 spot in our NC favorites, for us worth the 52 mile round trip from Garner. Hubby had veal cutlet parmigiana- his words so $&@$!:$ delicious- veal tender sauce great! Trust me he took leftover home and two hours later finished it and stated wish he had more! I

Okay for a lunch! Stopped in while waiting on my truck tire appointment. Server was super nice and attentive along with knew the name of each regular in for lunch which is typically a great sign.
Ordered the slice and salad special. Salad was mostly iceberg lettuce and dressing. Slice was pepperoni but the cheese they use was not my favorite.
Decent $10 lunch after tip but would not be my first choice although I left full so mission accomplished!

Looking for thin crust NY style pizza. Came in to try it out and .... Nope. Not it. Service was ok. Waitress was trying hard I'll give her that. She forgot the salad we ordered. Calamari was ok. Marinara sauce was really good. Had the right amount of crushed red pepper. Had a cheese pizza. Cheese was off and crust was hand tossed not thin crust. Nothing terrible just not great. Good beer and wine selection.

OK well I find this restaurant very interesting. Assaggios was a tucked away secret. The food was good the desserts taste great the wait staff was nice but did not listen/hear us well I'm not sure which it was. Food came out and some was cold some of it wasn't put in the computer.
The boss/manager tried to make sure we were happy with appetizers Because our reservation was messed up. He was so kind. It would not have been a big deal if it wasn't my birthday. I hope you do go try the food here it's delicious.

Simply done right!!!
Fried raviolis, golden brown and tender! Delivered hot to the table! Nice!
Salad was a simple Caesar Salad... nice balance of dressing to lettuce.
And the Gnocchi Napolitano with ricotta added. It's exactly what I was in for!! Gnocchi was nice Al-dente', cheesy and saucy! Perfect!
Most of all the service form the staff was great! I've had a rash of bad service in Memphis... so nice to see folks with a smile and pleasant attitude! Simply put...

I haven't had Italian food that I didn't make myself since relocating from NY. NY is home to so many authentic Italian restaurants and growing up in a predominantly Italian neighborhood with Italian friends, I can say my standards are pretty high.
I decided to order delivery from Assaggio's after reading all the positive reviews about the hot dishes. I didn't feel like going out for dinner so we had our Friday night feast at home. I ordered the lasagna that came with 2 garlic knots and a fresh salad. Everything was good however I expected more fresh seasoning on the lasagna

Oh my goodness!!! For real! This is my new Italian spot! First time here for hubby and I and we thoroughly enjoyed everything! The waitress was amazing and so very friendly. The food was out of this world! I had a slight headache coming on so I didn't have much of an appetite (unfortunately), so I got some soup and ordered a pizza. My husband ordered the lasagna (after hearing how delicious it was from the waitress). This food did not disappoint! My husband melted in his seat after taking the first bite of lasagna. Great service and excellent food. I enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the main course gnocchi which was served in a tomato cream sauce that brought the taste of Italy perfectly. The dinners are served with choice of salad and fresh from the oven garlic bread knots. Everything was served in very generous amounts leaving me no room to try one of the delicious looking desserts so took home mine home. Again delicious later with my coffee

Me and my family love Assaggio's- the pizza is truly one of the best in Raleigh, and the staff have always been kind and friendly to every customer. This time we got takeout, I personally had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, and it's one of the best I've had. The shrimp were so flavorful and they gave me such a generous portion. I also had one of the garlic knots, also amazing, the perfect amount of garlic and butter. My family ordered a large pepperoni pizza and it was gone in an hour- it was that good.

Based off of the Yelp reviews I decided to order take out from Assaggio's this evening. I wasn't feeling pizza or pasta so I ordered a turkey sub and I wasn't very impressed. The bread was crispy and delicious but I wasn't blown away by the fillings. There was barely any turkey on the sandwich. Maybe it was a fluke, but I wouldn't order this sandwich again. I paid $11.44 for basically just bread. Maybe in the future I'll try their pizza and see if it's any better than this sad sandwich.

I would give four stars, the food itself warrants that, the food was very good. I only give three because while the young lady that served was knowledgeable and helpful, she forgot my glass of wine though she didn't charge me for it, but her service was good. And the ants in the female bathroom, but understand, the food, the taste, and the portions were good. I'd definitely go back when I'm in town.

-scallops pesto (delicious, lots of herbs, large portion, way too much butter)
-fettuccine alfredo (tasty, large portion, too much butter/oil)
Pros:
-flavorful food
-large portions (the pasta portion was large and it came with a decent salad and two rolls)
-customizable menu items
-reasonable prices
-easy delivery via Postmates
-still warm upon arrival
Cons:
-the dishes we ordered had way too much butter in them. The excess pools of butter really took away from the rest of the dish.

I love Assaggio's! Our waitress was extremely helpful (sorry I can't remember her name) and answered all of our questions. The bruschetta was really tasty and the lobster ravioli was out of this world! They have really good garlic knots too. The photos do no justice, the dinner portions are huge!
