Services
The vast majority of students work with Heather on an hourly basis. Each student comes into the process with different needs and work already completed, but typically we start with an initial hourly meeting to do a comprehensive review of the student's profile, help students with self-discovery and the creation of a college list (or rounding out an existing list), and develop a plan of action for the months ahead.
This is for students already enrolled at a four-year or two-year college who are looking to transfer to a new program either for academic or personal reasons. Generating recommended list of universities and transfer degree programs based on student's academic and personal interests. Reviewing and providing feedback on application materials, including essays, short responses, portfolios, and resumes.
Did you know that there are more than 3,500 colleges and universities in the United States alone? That's a lot of schools and programs to choose from! On top of that, each college has different application requirements and deadlines. An independent counselor can help you narrow down the list and focus your research on colleges of best fit, whether it's by a certain major, geographic region, athletics program, social culture or all of the above.
If we could have signed up all three of our kids after our first meeting with Heather we would have! She put our son first, what did he want, what were his interests, what did he care about, what were his strengths. She spent the time getting to know him, and that made all the difference.
She was not building a relationship with us, she was building one with our son and they built trust and respect for one another and made our son want to achieve and complete the requirements based on the deadlines she set for him.Goal achieved, he was accepted at his top choice. Heather, you made the process so much easier and more pleasant than we anticipated and we felt lucky to have found someone so knowledgeable, available and helpful.

A few months ago, I was applying for jobs and was felt like my cover letter writing skills were rusty. Even though Heather's primary focus is working with high school students, I reached out for help with my resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile. She had great advice regarding how to increase my attractiveness and visibility to recruiters including appropriate buzzwords on my LinkedIn profile. Once I was selected for interviews, Heather helped coach me through commonly asked questions. It was very useful to consult someone who has been on the other side of selecting and interviewing
