Sylvia, along with her family of the La Canasta Mexican Restaurants, are a treasured tradition in the Valley of the Sun. The first La Canasta Mexican Restaurant opened in 1962 and it was there that Sylvia mastered her skills as a restaurateur. In 1988 she branched off to open Sylvia's Restaurant and Fiesta Catering Services, a popular Phoenix dining location.
Because Sylvia understands the demands of the modern diner, she eventually opened Sylvia's Mexican Express restaurant, a drive-through restaurant designed to deliver high quality authentic Mexican food at a fast-food pace. Today Sylvia has seen the demand and for fast casual sit down dining and now will be offering this convenient fare to her loyal customers.

We believe consistent flavors and friendly, service are the foundations of our Restaurant. Our Favorite Sonoran Entrees layered into a bowl, melted cheese, Guacamole and Sour Cream. Choose 1 item: Served over Rice - Nanas Green Chile Pork, Red or Green Beef, Machaca, Shredded Chicken, Carne Asada. Over rice, topped with Cheese and Green Onions.

What happened today!...No tortas for the torta sandwhiches, two tamales left, no more shrimp. A customer ordered three tacos and got one. The combo tamale order came out with only tamales no beans or rice. the chef was not reading the ticket and girls just kept reminding the guy over an over again. It was fun to watch i can tell you that much.

Best Mexican food in Phoenix! The Carne asada breakfast or lunch burrito, red or green chili beef or pork burros, tacos, Mexican pizza, Chipotle beans... I've had half the menu and everything is delicious! Wish they were open this morning, woke up craving a breakfast Carne asada burrito with Chipotle peppers!

Simple menu, Delicious food. Cafeteria style Mexican restaurant with the home cooked quality taste. With an added bonus of the owner..Miss Sylvia herself assisting with the orders! The red sauce is so good here, and the food seems to expand more and more in your stomach as time goes by. If you like to eat till you're full, and like to feel like you're gonna explode an hour later then this is definitely the spot for you.. Ask for the specials!
