Services
The Berkeley Shreds shredding process works in 2 stages. We cross-shred all paper material by positioning 2 shredders at a 90 degree angle to one another. The output from the first shredder is immediately fed into a second shredder, resulting in a much smaller shred size than conventional shredding.
Need a large bin for materials to be shredded in place at your business or home office? Let us drop off an empty bin for your shredded material. Our bins hold approximately 5 banker boxes full of documents and may be kept as long as needed until full. When ready, call or email Berkeley Shreds for pick up and bin return service.

At a 6 gallon capacity, The SEAL 'N SHRED bag holds up to 15 lbs. of material for shredding and measures 13.5" x 5.5" x 20.75". The Seal 'N Shred container bag is made from cultivated older trees, which absorb less carbon dioxide and produce less oxygen.

Looking through Yelp for a highly rated company we stopped into Berkeley Shreds to drop off the smallest amount of documents.
While there was a small wait, the service was friendly, quick, and thoughtful. You're able to see the documents as they go through the shredder and they ask you if you want to keep the box you brought it in.
All in all, we paid less than $5, and were in and out in under 10 minutes. We will definite use Berkeley Shreds again!

5 stuffed bank boxes with cancelled checks, medical test results, ancient papers accumulated going back to 1990's. I guess I'm a hoarder! Pulled into driveway, parked, loaded boxes onto hand cart, paid $8/box with credit card, watched operator unload each box onto shredder belt, observed shredded results fly out the other side, and was done in 15 minutes. Couldn't have been easier and much cheaper than per pound shredding companies. Very happy.

Wish I could give more stars. In the mist of a relocation and the amount of paper I've accumulated was crazy, I was ready to pay the $125 for the other guys service to come out and my boss mentioned this location. I was in awe, in and out, first off. Then to watch them shred, and lastly but not least you can not beat the service and the price. Soooooo glad someone turned me on them, too bad this was my first and last time...Due to my move. 10 across the board !!

Love the service. Really nice people. Does a great job shredding while you can watch them shred your docs. An added benefit is this really cool kitschy garden. It's super interesting with a lot of nice plants, fun decorations, figurines, and everything else. Wish they were located here in SF. Was worth the drive to Berkeley!

I love the fact that they can shred smaller quantities, minimum a shopping bag full. You can watch them shred your papers but because of the pandemic, you are not allowed to get close to the machine but at least can watch from a short distance. The staff is really nice. I have been there once and have referred my friend. She also had a great experience. Prices are super reasonable.

Berkeley Shreds provides an important weapon in the battle against identity theft by shredding paperwork and destroying electronic and magnetic storage devices. They recycle everything (paper, computers and any type of electronics except batteries and light bulbs), and take pride in their low carbon footprint and genuine concern for the environment. The owner rides a bike to work. They do very good work here and provide excellent customer service. I've been coming here for many years and they are consistently very nice, very efficient and very good. Highly recommended.

Warning: Do not order the seal 'n shred bags. I ordered four for delivery and they never came. I have emailed the company and received no response. I telephoned each of their phone numbers and left voicemail messages to follow up; again, no response. Today, I emailed one last time. I also tried to telephone and leave more voicemail messages, but today it was not possible to leave a voicemail message at either number. At this point it looks as though my only recourse is to cancel the payment and complain through my credit card company.

LOVE this place... so convenient and economical. Got a quote in SF for $195... same job I was able to shred here for $36. The $159 difference was worth the 20min drive over the bridge. Highly recommended!! (just be aware that they close early at 3PM!)

Great resource to safely dispose of sensitive information.
I had quite a few boxes and the team working was quick to help me move them from my car to the machine for shredding.
The process was quick and shredding happens where you can see what is happening with your papers.

Will definitely go back. I took half of a bankers box of documents there for shredding. It costed me only $4.00, the guy shredded the documents right away and I can see the process. This gives me a piece of mind as I know for sure that the documents got shredded. Very inexpensive and excellent service!!

Jennifer is amazing!! Just my luck, came here on the morning they experienced a small fire from people not separating their recyclables properly, but luckily Jennifer caught it early and saved the day! This place deserves EVERY star.. from the people, the prices, and the convenience. Just pull up, load your boxes onto a cart, take it to the counter where they give you the quote, and presto they shred it right in front of you! SOOO glad I found this place, don't look further it's worth a drive even from San Francisco! (the same amount of shredding I was quoted in SF for $250, I did

Stopped by with three grocery bags full of paper. Guy was nice, took bags and walked up to the conveyer belt to his left. He dump all my paper on it and on the other side shredded magic. It was quick. I saw for myself all my docs shredded. Peace of mind 100%.

Thank goodness for this company!!!!! Iron Mountain fumbled the ball terribly! We had over 500 boxes we needed shredded and Iron Mountain just dropped the ball and left us with this mess. Berkeley quickly picked up the slack and took no time in shredding all of the boxes and issuing us a certificate on the same day! Super amazing! I loved the quickness, the ability to take on the job and no fuss! Thank you!!

I've used this resource more than a dozen times, and I never hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Primarily, I use this place for shredding documents, folders, and old checkbooks. It definitely gives me peace of mind to watch things turn into confetti right before my very eyes.
Additionally, I've used their hard drive destruction service, small appliance and computer recycling, and if memory serves we took an old television there back when we still had a full box tv. Whenever I've had to pay for a service I've always felt like the price was more than fair.

I've spied Berkeley Shreds for what feels like years driving the Eastshore or maybe more often not driving crawling or seemingly parked forever on a many-lane freeway built for speed. And as I sit there and spy mental notes are made and yesterday finally when the boxes were full to overflowing and the hard drives piled up and needing proper destructive care I said OK off we go.
Anticipating nothing really other than being done w the leftovers of an office
