There is tremendous freedom that comes to us when we look within ourselves to overcome physical and mental suffering. The most profound change is based on self-acceptance. I will gently support you in the safest way possible to help you open to genuine transformation, discover new ways to express feelings, and let go of pain.

You can reconnect to the joy of life and all those you love. During my years in private counseling practice, I have come to recognize my deep interest and talents in helping women heal from depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also have decades of experience gently guiding teens to open up about the problems they are struggling with.

Talk therapy is an important aspect of healing, but it can get us only so far. Often, we can spend years "talking" about what has happened to us without really addressing the root of the problem: the fact that our body, not our mind remembers our past wounds and traumas. I use a variety of methods drawn from what is known as somatic psychotherapy.
I enjoy the process of helping individuals reconnect with the rewards of self-expression. I work mainly with those who have experienced childhood trauma. Gently, and with care, we will journey beyond the pain or confusion you are experiencing now to regain your optimism and energy. I help people who suffer from Complex Trauma and the many symptoms that come with it, such as dissociation, anxiety, overwhelm, depression, and body pain.
This is a marvelous opportunity to step into the comfort of being with other women in a safe, supportive environment. In this group, you will be able to work on issues in a way that is different from individual therapy. The goal of this group is to find a deeper understanding of yourself, while also feeling the warmth and safety of community with other women.
To read about how a somatic therapy has evolved from a research treatment for soldiers suffering from PTSD to an accepted therapy that can help many different types of trauma, this New York Times article in interesting and informative. A beautiful resource created by a non-therapist in an effort to help others learn about and recover from trauma using a "self-help" model.

Wendy is a warm and emotionally available presence in the counseling session, and has been an asset in discussing the treatment of trauma. She is my go-to referral for adolescent and young women experiencing trauma or inter-family relationship issues.
