Over the years, we've knocked down walls (figuratively and literally), picked up lots of barbells, introduced new programs and made fitness a priority. Our goal is to build a community of like-minded people who want to get really freaking fit! I've been a member of Shatter now going on three years.
I was 49 yrs old when I first went there to do a six week challenge. Being in Law enforcement, I've always been a gym nut, but wanted a change. A friend suggested CrossFit, so when I saw the challenge on FB I decided to do it. I remember when I first walked into Shatter and met Shane. His energy and enthusiasm was through the roof.

CrossFit Shatter strives to aid our members, athletes and community in setting goals and accomplishing things they never thought they could; whether it be to lose weight, be the star player on a sports team, recover from an injury, become a better weightlifter or change your lifestyle, the Shatter community is here to support you.
CrossFit is a comprehensive health-and-fitness program designed to be universally scalable. We practice and train major lifts. We master skills of gymnastics. We bike, run, swim and play. We scale load and intensity, never the program. Resulting in an athlete; a stronger, faster, healthier, happier version of yourself!

A very friendly atmosphere.
Coaches are very thorough when explaining the movements and they always mention scaled versions for each of the movements for beginners. They check everyone during the workout to make sure movements are done properly. This all means zero risk of injury, which is a big plus especially for beginners.

In all reality, this is a great community of people where everybody from the dudes that looked like they were carved from stone to the grandmother is trying to get better.

Come. To. This. Gym. Sometimes the name CrossFit can be a bit daunting but there’s no better place to see that it’s accessible and fun as all hell for anybody excited by the thought of a challenge / power hour of fitness. L
They offer a couple different types of classes and I highly recommend coming in for the earliest ones. They do a free first session for newbs. Definitely check it out

I dropped in with a friend for a weekend- boot camp and wod. I’ve dropped in to a lot of gyms across the country and this one is by far my favorite! The coaches are so encouraging and give amazing feedback. The people are welcoming and friendly. The space is huge and full of clean, top notch equipment. Programming was challenging in a good way. Shane, the owner is the nicest and full of energy! I miss this gym even when I’m home. If I could give it 500 stars I would!

My husband and I dropped in at crossfit shatter for the whole weekend and we had the best experience ever! Here are some of the highlights of this gym -
1. People here are super friendly - we feel so welcomed right after we stepped into the gym. Everyone here is very bubbly and energetic. They push you and cheers you up during the workout.
2. Shane, the head instructor, is super professional and personal at the same time. He observes carefully during the class and made sure people workout safely and push them harder.
3. The best part

I can't say enough great things about the people here, the programming and the coaches. Shane and Lucille are constantly looking for ways to improve the atmosphere/space and they are great people to get to know. I was never considered an "athlete" in school, but now I'm lifting weights I never imagined I could lift at 17 years old. Crossfit Shatter has not only made me stronger, but made me more confident. I have been a member at Crossfit Shatter for 6 months now. The owner and all coaches are giving constant feedback and support so that you continue to grow each day. It is a very supportive environment - it's like Cheers - everyone knows your name :). I usually go 5x/week and feel motivated to go each day. The challenge to improve is part of the culture. By far my favorite gym/box that I have ever been a member at.

The BEST crossfit gym in the 518! Want to feel at home and part of the family the second you walk in the door? this is the place. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE is friendly and accepting whether you are a drop in, a regular, or a new member. The Coaches are attentive and classes are structured and scheduled in the best way. I've put off writing a review for too long... I think one reason why is because I have so many feelings about this place... Crossfit Shatter has been the catalyst for one of the most amazing life changes I've ever committed to - making myself and my health a priority in a way that honors health, fitness, and community above just a number on the scale.

If you're looking for a great gym with good programming and solid coaching this is your spot. I tried other gyms in the area, and they were nowhere near as good as this one. Been going for about 2 months now, and I'm really enjoying it. Seeing great gains, and the head coach Shane is working with me to help me meet my goals. The communities great too, come visit weekday mornings and join the 6 am club! Best way to start your day.

I've been working out here on a weekly basis since Nov '15 and it's been the first and only place to keep me excited about fitness for this long, consistently. All the coaches are fantastic, Shane (owner) really knows how to run a solid business and is both accessible and approachable. He really cares about each member, coach, staff, etc., and it shows. Also, the sense of community at this place is amazing and I would encourage anyone even considering starting crossfit or switching boxes to give Shane a call and see for yourself how welcoming the vibe is.

I was in Albany for a few days and dropped into CrossFit Shatter for two noon sessions. Lance (#2) the noontime coach was awesome and helped me with form points throughout, even though I was not a regular. Great coach. Everyone was very welcoming and the WODs were awesome. The box itself has just the right amount of grit, sweat, and good vibes to inspire and get anyone motivated. For anyone visiting Albany who needs a local box to drop in on, check out CrossFit Shatter. And for anyone in Albany who is looking for a great box with good people and community, I would gladly recommend CrossFit

Do you have reservations about joining CrossFit? Are you intimidated by the rumors of a cult-like atmosphere? This may be the case at other gyms, but not CrossFit Shatter, and if it is a cult (let's face it, it is kind of a cult), it is a cult you want to join. I have been doing CrossFit for over two years and have been a member at Shatter for about a year, and I feel a void in my life on the days that I cannot make it into the gym (and I used to DREAD working out before Shatter!) I joined CrossFit to take advantage of the living social deal which was two months of CrossFit at a discount. I did six classes of the 101 training, which instructed you on all of the CrossFit exercises such as 5 different cleans, snatch, squats, deadlifts, box jumps, pull ups, push-ups etc. I worked out for years as an avid swimmer, golfer and tennis player. My training consisted of mostly cardio. I rarely lifted weights. This is been an challenge for me as I've had to learn basically everything from scratch. I'm going to the gym 4 times a week, learning proper form and getting stronger

CrossFit Shatter is now my 58th CrossFit gym (or box for those who are familiar with the lingo) and let me know it's one of my favorites.
First of all the trainers are great. They give correction and are enthusiastic without being pushy or in your face. The community is embracing and welcoming. The gym is not even a year old so the equipment is great, lots of space to work out and not feel cramped even when the classes are pretty packed, and they have a separate room for mobility/strength so if you come early or want to stay a little later, you can have your own little private gym to work
