Our local Newport DE funeral home was originally a home that was built in the early 1900's. It was converted to a funeral home in 1934. Families often comment that they appreciate the historical aspect, and feel more comfortable in a atmosphere that feels like a home. We pride ourselves on the functionality and appearance of our facilities.

My Mom passed away & it has been the most stressful time of my life. Nichols Gilmore Funeral Home, a family run business, was there for us. Jim & Cait were kind, understanding, patient, compassionate & knowledgeable. They guided me through the whole process & made sure I understood my options. A bonus was the prices were within our budget & there were "no surprise" fees. A big thank you to Nichols-Gilmore Family. We recommend them highly!!!

We utilized the services of Nichols-Gilmore funeral home in Newport, DE after the passing of my mother. They were wonderful to work with-kind, considerate, professional individuals. It is a small family run business that took care of all our needs. They treated us with the utmost respect and guided us with options during this pandemic. I would definitely recommend their services for the care of loved ones who have passed.

I will never forget my most geniune service I received for the most difficult service I needed to provide. My youngest daughter had past due to a car accident when she was attempting to take her youngest to A. I. Dupont Hospital for children. I truly feel that they were not only professional but also truly sorry for my loss. They were willing to help me with payment which i greatly appreciate. I recommend this funeral home to anyone. They have treated me as an individual who had lost a child way to soon. Thank you so much for your services.

I could not speak more highly about this funeral home. Jim is extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, and personable. The prices are also very reasonable. Jim and his staff helped make a very difficult time bearable. We also elected to have the funeral service at the funeral home, and it went very smoothly. Words cannot describe how impressed I was by how accommodating and well-run this funeral home was in my experience. Highly recommended!!

Jim Gilmore and his staff went above and beyond our expectations for the wonderful service they performed for our mother’s funeral. We were impressed by the personalized treatment, support, and compassion shown at this difficult time. They took us through the whole process step by step explaining everything we needed to do taking away the stress on the family. In a time of deep sorrow and not knowing what to do, we turned to Nichols/Gilmore for the final needs of our daughter. This family owned funeral home is so different from the big "box store" type funeral homes that are everywhere. They were very patient and respectful throughout the process, from planning to the service. We were never uncomfortable or rushed and they did so much to make this as easy as possible. Excellent service and care. We had the unfortunate situation of having to bury a Granddaughter because of SIDS. It was such an emotional event and James Gilmore took care of every thing we needed and helped us create a beautiful service and was so compassionate and willing to do whatever we wanted or needed. They had so many extra nice touches as well. I recommend them highly!
