Congo Funeral Home
As we all know, funeral planning is not easy, especially if you have never had to plan one before. The process can be overwhelming. But no matter what your circumstances, you can rely on us to guide you and provide every bit of support you need. Take a few moments to express your wishes now and help to ease the burden on your loved ones.

Baine Family - I had no classes with Josh, but we were both members of the 1960 Conrad graduating class. I did not know him but knew him by sight. His obituary told the story of a man who had a great life and did his best. I wish I had known him in adulthood. My sympathy goes to his many family members, especially his children.
Services
Congo Funeral Home has been serving Wilmington area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come. In March of 1975, a longtime dream of Ernest "Sammy" Congo became a reality. Sammy and his wife, Cheris, held an open house for a "first-generation" funeral home located at 201 N. Gray Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware.
Planning a funeral can be overwhelming, but you are not alone in this. We're here to support you throughout this journey and make this process one of love, healing, and life celebration. Below is some information to help you get started, but you can contact us at any time if you need help.

When a loved one dies at home or in a place that isn't a healthcare facility, you'll need to contact emergency personnel before they can be taken into our care.If your loved one was under medical care, it's a good idea to call their physician as well. If your loved one dies in a healthcare facility, they will notify the proper authorities, including the funeral home you have chosen to care for your loved one if they know that information.
Planning a funeral service can be a very difficult process for families who have just lost a loved one. But it's important to provide those who are grieving with a supportive environment in which they can begin to find closure, say goodbye, and come to terms with the loss.

Gathering with friends and family gives everyone the opportunity to connect, share memories, offer words of sympathy, and create a lasting network of comfort and support as they start the journey toward healing.Immediate burial means that your loved one will be buried or entombed without a public service or gathering.
Personalization isn't just about honoring your loved one's individuality. It also allows family and friends to feel connected to the services and the life being honored. We work closely with you and your family to get to know your loved one's life story so we can make their services as personal as possible.
We're proud to do our part in honoring our country's veterans. Our duty is to provide you and your family with professional and dignified assistance during your time of need, and we promise to support you in honoring your loved one for their dedication and selfless service. Former military members who served on active duty and departed under honorable conditions.

It amazes me how we’re supposed to support our black owned businesses and they’re the first ones to take advantage and be so unprofessional. If I cancel an order that I paid for with my debit card, why can’t you debit my money back to my card. Here we are weeks later, I call regarding my refund and I’m told the check is on the desk. Really, are you kidding me!!!

Congo was extremely professional in the handling of my father's funeral arrangements. The morning he died, the gentleman that picked him up were respectful of our needs and they were dressed to impress. My dad was looking extremely handsome in his casket, they listened to us and did his hair as directed( my dad was particular abt his hair). From start to finish, all our expectations were exceeded, this made a hard time so much more easier on the family. Thank you to Jordan and the entire staff.

Never use them ever again. They do not honor the dead or their wishes even if those are presented to them in a recorded will.

Very unprofessional and unorganized! This funeral home was paid for my grandchild’s death certificate on 11/25/2020 til this very moment I still have NO death certificate in hand! What if I needed the insurance money to bury her? I wouldn’t have been able to do so! I’ve been calling all week and asking about her death certificate and keep being told that some lady that act like she’s as untouchable as the heavens is supposed to return my call but DOES NOT feel it’s necessary to do because she never does! When a family is grieving and mourning the loss of a loved one, the last thing they

I cannot begin to tell you how unprofessional this place is. Every time I go visit my grandmother's grave there is no marker. All I have to look at is dirt every time I go because even though they cashed the check already, they haven't sent payment to grace lawn memorial park. I think everyone needs to know that it has been seven moths since my grandmother passed. Stay away from this funeral home

Very unprofessional, the whole planning process was a mess. Their business has gone down. My grandma passed away in October and was cremated. 2 months went by before we received the ashes. They never called us, we had to go up there and ask for them. Please avoid going to them.

I cannot begin to explain my frustration with Congo. My mother passed away this past July 30 and still Congo has not made payment to the cemetery to install my mother’s marker on her grave. I have verified that Congo received all of the money from the insurance company and still no marker. This is really adding insult to injury. Congo was real quick to complete all of the necessary paperwork in order to get their hands on the insurance money but apparently there was no concern to follow through. I would not recommend this facility to my worst enemy. They’ve only added to the pain of my mothers

The Congo Funeral Home provided impeccable service from the beginning of the process until the very end.
The team ensured that every request was fulfilled as we laid our precious mother to rest including a beautiful dove, chairs delivered, final ride, presentation, and service. They also ensured all documents were provided to us in a timely manner.
We appreciate Tajai helping us with the final details and words of expression that included the numbers relating to our Mom. The rest of the Congo team was by our side throughout the entire service included Darrell, Erick, Jordan, and Paulette.

I wish to thank Aaron for his assistance with me and my mothers only surviving sister after the death of my mother Mattie Flamer. He made himself available when possible and I could always contact him through email. Whenever I needed something added or looked at he responded.
Also, the two young men that assisted at her service I could tell are being trained very well.
Thanks again,
