He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychobiology at UCLA and earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (now called Marshall B. Ketchum University).

We provide comprehensive vision and eye health examinations. Our complete health exams include a dilated exam for early detection of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, diabetic eye disease, and other ocular diseases. Our patients know that we are their primary care providers for any eye condition including infections, allergies and dry eyes.
Our office provides a wide selection of frames including a large selection of designer frames. Only the highest quality lenses are used including the new digital lenses which minimizes distortions and aberrations that old lenses produce. We carry a wide array of choices to fit any budget. Some of the brands we carry include Prada, Guess, Ray-Ban, Diesel, Coach, Gucci, Kenneth Cole, and more.
Entering the world of contact lenses is an exciting adventure in pursuit of the right contacts for your lifestyle. All options can be pursued to find the best option for your eyes, whether it is soft, astigmatism, rigid, multi-focal, dailies, post-surgical, keratoconus, cosmetic, or prosthetic contact lenses.
Below are just some of the insurances we accept. We are on most vision insurance plans for your routine eye exams and almost all PPO plans for any medical eye visits. This is the most thorough eye examination I have experienced (and I have been very short-sighted since a young age, almost 40 years old and have lived in the U.K. as well as here in the U.S.!). The office is a very pleasant environment, front desk staff are friendly and helpful and I really cannot fault Dr. Melamed. He is such a nice guy who clearly cares about his patients and does an excellent job at explaining all aspects of the examination, as well as options available etc. He is relaxed and friendly, never rushes you if you have questions, and is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable

If you're looking for an optometrist in the West Hollywood area I would 100% recommend this office.
They really go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. Doctor Melaned is fantastic! I have visited a few different optometrist offices in the los angeles area over the years and Dr. Melamed is the best !

Can't say enough about the service and consideration of the staff at Melamed. I had to re-route a trip to come to LA for a family member's surgery. My toiletries, including my glasses and contacts, were in my checked bag that continued on to my original destination. I had one pair of contacts (dailies) and I was wearing them. I searched for optometrists by my brother's house in West Hollywood and came upon Melamed. I emailed them my prescription (legally blind and an astigmatism), and within several minutes they called back saying they had some contacts matching my prescription in stock. I walked

I’ve been doing business with this company for a couple of years now. I truly do like this company and I believe in their success Enough to have made five or six referrals! They have an excellent selection of lenses, frames, and generally really good customer service;?however, out of all my business, 40% of it has been not delivered, at all, or very late. As a business owner, and as a provider for my family through my business, I would expect attention to detail and timeliness in order delivery. On the most recent pair, I called four times each time being told I would receive a phone call back

Good practice. I went in as a new patient with eye strain (old glasses had too much magnification) and they lowered magnification a lot and instead adjusted other measurements. I went in again after a few weeks to get a slight re-adjustment and they were very nice about it. My new prescription feels much more comfortable! I also appreciated how clear they were about what would or would not be covered by insurance.

I called him with a flashing light in my eye and feared the worse that I my retina may be detached. He gave me an urgent appointment and examined me thoroughly and comforted me with a comprehensive explanation. A very pleasant experience and I would recommend him to my family and friends. Great optometrist!

As other reviewers have already said, Melamed Eye Care Optometry actually makes it a fun time to go to the eye doctor! Did not know that was possible. All of the staff, from owner to assistant to eye doctor, are absolutely awesome and know what they're doing. This place is so welcoming and efficient, to boot! Melamed Eye Care Optometry is rocking the customer service.I love supporting a local, family business after years of going to the big guys, like Lens Crafters. These guys get it right, and they have made a loyal customer out of me in just one visit. Can't recommend enough!

Dr. Melamed & Staff are the BEST in Hollywood!
I have strong astigmatism, and need to wear glasses or contacts daily to see. A regular eye health exam + vision check up is an investment in my profession (as well as an investment in anyone's health). Everyone should have a periodic and thorough eye exam as part of their routine primary care. I recommend going to Dr Melamed !
