Over 45 years ago, Sierra Vista pioneered the way for the Sierra Foothills when it purchased it's property in 1972. Once the land was cleared, the first vineyard was planted in 1974. The topography, soils and altitudes in the vineyard create varied micro climates consistent with some of the best known grape growing regions of the world including Cotes du Rhone, Bordeaux and Burgundy.
After 3 years of production, construction and wine making, the winery was open for business in 1977 as one of the first El Dorado County wineries in modern day history. Sierra Vista have been creating award winning wines year after year.

Jim & Sherry have dreamed of owning a vineyard since their first trip to Tuscany back in the early 2000s. Jim built and grew a commercial tile company called Great Lakes Tile & Contracting into one of the most successful and respected tile contracting companies in Michigan.

During that century, Tiger Lily became one of the largest and best-known wineries, hailing from the largest wine producing area of its time. Today, we reintroduce the spirit and brand of Tiger Lily.
First planted in 1972, Sierra Vista is one of the oldest Vineyards in the Sierra foothills. We pioneered the way for the modern-day wine business and helped define the foothills as the promising wine growing region, as it is today. Most of our grapes are planted on their own rootstock - not grafted.

The location is beautiful, with views up the snow capped Sierra mountains. The wine is fine, but nothing special. However while there, when you read the posters, there are a lot of conservative dog whistles; a relaxed mask policy during COVID, blue lives matters, raffles for Dr Seuss books, gift cards to the Apple Bistro in Placerville. If you know what I'm getting at, this will either really appeal, or be a huge turn off.
