Services
The hotel building was originally Pearl's Brewhouse, built in 1894 and a San Antonio landmark ever since. The building was designed by Chicago architect August Maritzen in the Second Empire style. Maritzen specialized in breweries, designing more than eighty in the US, Canada and South Africa.
In 2002, Silver Ventures purchased the property and began the conscientious renovation and adaptive reuse process that has created today's Pearl, a vibrant culinary and cultural village.Established in 1881 as the J.B. Behloradsky Brewery, the company was acquired in 1883 by the San Antonio Brewing Association, and by 1916 it was the largest brewery in Texas.

Welcome to Hotel Emma, a delectably unique 146-room hotel with seven top-floor suites, a handsome bar and club room, an excellent restaurant, a purveyor of fine foods, and public spaces reminiscent of fine old hotels in far-flung locales. Comfortable and unconventional, the hotel's historical ambiance proclaims a new standard of South Texas luxury and geniality.
When you check in, we'll greet you in the Library with our traditional welcome: a complimentary La Babia margarita. On the rocks - freshly squeezed lime juice, orange liqueur and premium tequila. That's the La Babia, our traditional welcome to our guests, served in hand-etched, azure glasses. The simple, perfectly balanced recipe honors the renowned Hacienda La Babia in Coahuila, Mexico.
Hiatus Spa & Retreat's newest location is just a few steps across Brewer's Alley in the Cellars Residences building. This highly-regarded spa has 13 treatment rooms, a hydro-therapy room for Vichy shower treatments, a relaxation room, nail therapy room with zero gravity chairs, and more. Bookings fill up fast, so if you want spa services (in-room or at the Spa) during your stay, please notify our concierge when you make your hotel reservation.
Pearl is a neighborhood and like all great neighborhoods it has a rich history that just keeps going, added to and upheld by the many people who have ties to the place, the river and the Brewery since its founding in 1881. Pearl is also a place where we like to get together - to share meals, to learn, to work, to live.

One of the best hotels in the country. The Hotel Emma is one of the great rehabs in the world. Once home to Lone Star Brewery the hotel keeps alot of the old brewery and molds it into one of the finest hotels. The bar area is superb with a private seating area inside some of the old vats they used to brew the beer in. The bar features its own interesting cocktails, the one I ordered was one of the best cocktails I have had. San Antonio is sneakily one of the best cities in the US and this one of the best hotels I have ever been too.

Hotel Emma is an experience, you've got to stay for yourself to understand. While there are plenty of glowing reviews, it just doesn't compare. I chose to take control of our anniversary plans this year and not leave it for my husband to do, I wanted to treat him and you guys did NOT disappoint. From the beautiful written message, bottle of champagne, fruit/chocolates to the incredibly intimate mr/Mrs pillowcases. It was a beautiful moment and I'm so thankful to all of you for making it so special. He loved it!!

The scene and history were beautiful. Although welcoming, the service and prices are unnecessary and disappointing. We went in with out of town family to have drinks. The bottle of wine was $44, available at HEB for $15. The old fashioned was good. But when we asked to sweeten it with fruit, cherries specifically...they threw in simple syrup. We wanted to add a cheese board but, waited 35 minutes so we canceled since our drinks were done. We will come back to try again but this visit was mediocre.

I think this is the best hotel San Antonio has to offer!!! It's an eye candy if you are into design and details. This was a brewery and converted into a hotel I believe in 2015. Great staff and lovely atmosphere. In pearl district and a food heaven around.
If you are in San Antonio, this is where you should stay!

First and foremost, Emma has a fantastic staff of people who are truly gracious and genuine in their interactions. Five-star, all the way.
But honestly, the rest of the property- especially the rooms- are not up to par with the price they're charging or their competition (Ritz, Four Seasons, etc). They get away with this because there's nothing close to them in the San Antonio market, but if you've traveled and stayed at great hotels, you'll immediately see cracks in the veneer.
The rooms, even suites, feel cave-like due to lower ceilings. The soft-product, like toilet

We had a wonderful breakfast in the "Supper" restaurant inside the Hotel Emma. The breakfast was marvelous! It was gourmet food at inexpensive prices! We toured the hotel, and the grocery. The grounds of the Pearl brewery has been totally repurposed and houses a culinary school and other shops and stores. The grounds are beautiful and include parts from the old brewery and all the old buildings. It was very quaint. It sits on the river and that adds to the charm!

Umm...wow. You pay a pretty penny but boy is that reflected in the service. Emma blows away any of the other classic chain hotels. From the moment you step inside you are treated like royalty. Receptionist walked us to the elevator while reviewing all the complimentaries: a welcome margarita, bottled water in the fridge, slippers, robe, an aromatherapy night spray for your pillow. There is a turndown service at night where they leave locally made macarons. Bedding was fantastic. Morning coffee and fresh muffins served in the library.
The rooftop pool has plenty of cushioned loungers, which I witnessed

Never been so impressed w staff members Team in a hotel, especially in San Antonio.
From the beginning with nikole who started our trip w ease. No wait at the front desk thankfully.
The hotel was closed off to the public so that was nice and quiet. Supper on the other hand gets busy.
Was so happy to get an hour tour of the hotel w Hannah on Saturday at 3 so that was a nice treat. Loved all the little fun history and facts.
Great little bonus of complimentary coffee made in the lovely library plus cocktails in the evening.
