Located just South of Fredericksburg, Texas, Slate Mill Wine Collective lies on a scenic estate with expansive production facilities. Our goal is to provide expertise and custom crush space to enthusiasts who wish to produce their own wine. Each of these winemakers represent the pioneering spirit of the Texas wine industry, and we feature their products in our tasting room and introduce their brands to our wine club.
Slate Mill Wine Collective evolved from 1851 Vineyards, which was a family operated winery established in 2016. The 1851 brand is a celebration of the maverick spirit for which Texas is known. Produced by Winemakers, Tyler Wolz and David Newitt, and the Slate Mill cellar team, 1851 remains our featured in-house brand.

We really enjoyed our time here! Glasses/bottles of wine were reasonably priced, and the employees were super helpful when picking out wine. We got a charcuterie board & it was more than enough food for 3 people. The patios are spacious & the lower patio allows dogs, which was nice. I will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I toured the winery today. Chase was a great tour guide and the wine was really lovely. It's some we want to have in our wine rack on a regular basis. When we signed up for their wine club (which is not a sentence I ever imagined uttering but it was so good we had to) Nick was was really helpful in getting the best option. The wine is superb and the people are just great. I can't say enough good things about this winery.

Good wine, good location.
Stopped at slate mill for the first time a few days ago and I'm glad I did. Good patio. Nice food truck (we got their shrimp basket). Good wine tastings. I felt like their classic tastings was a good mix of different expressions they sell. Ended up leaving with a few bottles.
A little confusing when you first turn in off the highway - gotta turn to the right and drive along a little road to get back to their tasting room and parking area.
Very friendly staff. Good to talk to them about their wines and their operation.
Lower patio had cool fire pit / conversation areas
