The Reformer machine was first created by Joseph Pilates for rehab of wounded soldiers during WWI. Spring-loaded resistance, anatomically-correct body positioning and clever use of gravity produce an amazing piece of equipment that makes it one of the most versatile fitness machines ever.
At Fort Hunt Pilates, I use it as a tool to repair and strengthen your body with individual and group led classes that will both challenge and motivate you, while being accessible no matter your age or experience. When I started Fort Hunt Pilates in 2014, my goal was to establish a fitness and wellness studio in the suburbs of Washington DC.

The quality, value and professionalism of Fort Hunt Pilates is first rate! I have taken thousands of exercise classes over the years, worked with personal trainers, and held memberships at over-priced corporate gyms. All of these experiences pale in comparison to the personalized attention this amazing little studio affords its customers. Aizhan Patten provides exemplary instruction in all aspects of Pilates with exceptional attention to details that assure a safe, healthy, and positive environment for her students. After just six months of weekly classes I am seeing results that I love: improved

I am a huge fan of Fort Hunt Pilates. It's owner and instructor - Aizhan Patten - presents an exceptionally creative yet challenging Pilates experience in her classes. Aizhan's extensive knowledge of exercise science and kinesiology shines during her instruction. She pushes for excellence in both form and effort while assuring a safe, healthy and positive teaching environment. I have learned a great deal from her and am so very, very pleased with my experiences. What's more, I feel good about supporting a locally owned and operated small business.

I've been attending classes here for a little over month and only have words of praise for Aizhan and her studio. I've practiced mat Pilates in the past but had never worked on reformers, as we do here. I am also beginning a new health journey due to an injury. My transition has been seamless thanks to Aizhan. I started off with one private lesson and then immediately transitioned to group classes. Aizhan is very knowledgeable and supportive. With small classes and her attention to detail, Aizhan is able to give each student personalized attention. Parking is easy, and the studio

I have found this Pilates class to be the best in the Alexandria area. The simply spectacular instructor really knows her stuff, and provides an amazingly varied set of routines, with very clear and seamless instruction to a range of skill levels. Classes are very intimate, so you will get personal attention. It is an ideal workout for strength building and flexibility, and I would not give it up as part of my exercise routine.

I go to Fort Hunt Pilates and really enjoy the classes. Aizhan is a perfect trainer. Even when the class is full ( 4 pp max) she has her eyes on everybody and corrects you individually. I stated pilates because of lower back problems. I got a lot stronger doing pilates and my back problems are a lot better. I love, love, love Aizhan's pilates sessions and will be one of her clients for many years to come. And btw the studio is always spotlessly clean.

I started Pilates about two years ago. Aizhan has totally transformed my body. I love that she only has four reformers in her Studio. You always feel like you’re in a private session. Even though I’ve been working with Aizhan for quite a while She mixes things up and challenges me every session. I’ve been to several other Pilates studios in the area and Fort Hunt Pilates outshines them all. Thank you Aizhan!!

I have tried so many different type of workouts and classes, and I have finally found a Pilates that really makes a noticeable difference in your body. Aizhan is so knowledgeable and instructive during the class that I feel like I get better and better each time I go. Highly recommend on all fronts.

Aizhan and her Pilates studio is one of the best kept secrets in the Alexandria area. If more word gets out about how awesome this boutique studio and it's excellent instructor/owner are, I'm afraid the classes will fill up too fast and I'll be waitlisted! Worse yet, many Pilates devotees from Old Town might want to give up their overcrowded studios, so-so instructors, and lack of parking to attend Ft Hunt Pilates. ;)

I have taken a few Pilates classes in the Alexandria area, and this has been the SINGLE, BEST. Aizhan, the instructor, is simply spectacular. She creates a challenge in each and every class, manages varying skill levels and changes the routines completely each class. I do not know how she manages to provide such clear and seamless instruction for such a wide range of routines for the full hour, without pause (or checking notes as I saw elsewhere). I find I have worked on all parts of my body due to the range of exercises, and would find this a hard class to forfeit.
