We partner with you to build an effective, lasting approach to managing your weight and health. Kahan doesn't have a magic wand. He doesn't have a magic pill. But he does have a magic way of helping you break through whatever is holding you back from being a healthy, happy and confident person. Here's some things I'm thankful for right now: The end of election season.

I can't remember a more stressful time, both due to the tensions of this unique election, as well as the ongoing stressors surrounding it. The political polarizations will continue, but moving beyond this election feels like an early holiday gift.
Services
At the National Center for Weight and Wellness, we work with you to create an enjoyable, sustainable path forward to manage weight and health. We approach weight management and wellness as a "team sport" that goes beyond the number on the scale. In our experience, most people's difficulty managing weight goes beyond simply needing to find the "right" diet or the "perfect" plan.
NCWW is proud to have a team of healthcare professionals that share a common vision that shapes our Center. We believe in science-based, patient-centered, warm, and compassionate care - Where Science Meets Humanity. Dr. Scott Kahan is the Director of the National Center for Weight and Wellness. He is a physician trained in both clinical medicine and public health.
Note that classes marked as "Reserved" require prior arrangement with the group leader. Please also note that classes may be cancelled, on occasion, so please call (202-223-3077) or email us (communications@nationalweight.org) for our most updated Calendar of classes/groups and virtual meeting links.
To protect everyone's safety, we have transitioned all services to virtual interactive sessions - that is, video or phone appointments and video classes and support groups. This includes information sessions, which will be conducted virtually, as well. We offer free information sessions every other Tuesday at 5:15pm ET and once-monthly on Saturday afternoons (typically the first Saturday of each month at 1:15pm ET).
There are many weight loss programs, diet books, and specialists out there; unfortunately, they often have contradictory beliefs and practices. It's hard to cut through the noise - and to know which is right for you. You: no matter how good the science is, managing weight and health is ultimately about you.

If you need to lose a lot of weight, and it seems like you've tried everything, consider calling for an appointment to meet with Dr. Scott Kahan at the National Center for Weight and Wellness (NCWW) in DC., and just go from there! I first saw Dr. Scott Kahan on a Ted Talk and thought he was amazing -- and then I was able to see him in person, and he is in fact absolutely wonderful. He's non-judgmental, so supportive and extremely knowledgeable! The NCWW has an incredibly fun and supportive staff and there are a number of really interesting sessions you can attend throughout the week (from weight

NCWW offered the most well-coordinated, comprehensive weight management program I've ever encountered (and I've been through a lot of them). They help you approach the issue from all angles, including nutrition strategies, monitoring your bloodwork, cognitive behavioral therapy, specific meal plans for your goals, etc. Services are offered both in one-to-one appointments, group work, and even some exercise classes (yoga). The staff are some of the most empathetic and knowledgeable people in the field of weight loss. I wholeheartedly recommend NCWW to anyone who struggles with weight/eating issues

When I stumbled across Dr. Kahan's Center, I was excited about the NOT-one-size-fits-all approach and myriad of activities and options. But "why even bother" haunted me. After all, trying program after program, *this-is-the-one* inevitably morphed to stumbling/gaining/giving up, with the customary emotional fallout . I was exhausted, and my health was bad.
But slowly it became evident - the Center's approach is different: sustainable, life changing and life saving, if you are open to what the amazing staff offers.
After reading another review, I'd like to mention that the Center has many plans

NCWW was exactly what I needed because Dr. Kahan and his colleagues focused on my individual needs, rather than trying to indoctrinate me into some sort of one-size-fits-all program. There is no "do this," or "do that," only "let's figure out what works for you." That's why they are the real deal.

Dr. Kahan has not only been a great doctor to me the past few years, he has really become a friend that I look forward to catching up with. He is always positive and keeps things in perspective. When I moved from DC he made it clear that he would still always be around for me if I needed anything. We have had phone appointments to keep me on track and they have been really helpful. I cannot say enough good things about him!

The female and male professionals who staff the National Center for Weight and Wellness genuinely care about those of us who reach out to them for advice, counsel and timely assistance.
Our prospects for achieving our goals are totally within our reach and are our responsibility.
The short and longer term benefits of working with the men and women of NCWW is access to their banks of knowledge, practical experience and their flexible willingness to custom tailor a program that works best for each of us !!!

I just called to get information about the weight loss program and I was told that the only way I can get information about the program is if I come to the free consultation on thursday or I have to schedule an appointment and pay $140 to find out how much the program will cost. When I requested to speak to someone other than the lady who answered the call, I was informed that no one in the office can answer my question unless I come to the information session.
