Our Four C's of Diamonds guide can help you decide on the most important factors when shopping for a diamond. The word carat derives from the word carob, a Mediterranean seed, which has an extremely consistent weight for measuring. The greater the carat weight, the rarer, and more valuable the diamond becomes.
Clater Jewelers is the only member of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) in Louisville, giving them exclusive access to the largest independent jewelry buying group in the world. In addition to our IJO membership, Claters also has a GIA Gemologist on staff, Christy M. Effinger (owner Megan Martin's daughter).

The adage "every piece of jewelry tells a story" is often quoted, but I believe Clater Jewelers truly understands what that means and all it entails for the consumer. I recently brought in a ring that belonged to my grandmother to be restored. Megan was an amazing & understanding help as she helped me pick out a new shank that perfectly complimented the setting and they cleaned up everything to both make it shine like new but keep it's story and antiquity in place. This place is awesome! Sallie and the rest of employees were very welcoming and personal. My girlfriend, now fiancée, went to look at engagement rings and they made the whole process stress free. They are very flexible and keep simple. As soon as my “soon to be better half” came home, she couldn’t stop talking about this jewelry store. I knew this was the place to go. I had entertained the idea of upgrading /embellishing my diamond band for a number of years and visited two other jewelers prior to visiting Clater. Clater was suggested to me by a friend. Admittedly I have a very basic knowledge of jewelry intricacies. Meghan was very gracious and patient in her provision of ideas and technical information that best suited my existing piece. I found pricing to be better than other establishments I visited, customer service superior and there exist a genuine desire for customer satisfaction. I am very happy with my ring.

Clatter Jewelers Diamond Center is amazing! My husband & I wanted to have my engagement ring & wedding band reset to include my Mother’s diamonds. Sallie listened carefully to my wishes, while being sensitive to the sentimental nature of the project. She helped me create the PERFECT new custom setting that is exactly what I envisioned! My Fiancé and I got my engagement ring from here and it was a fantastic experience! We had been to several other bigger rings shops first, but we were put off by their aggressive sales techniques. When we came to Claters they did not push us to make a sale, but let us shop and come in as much as we needed to not feel any pressure. They helped us make a beautiful custom ring! I was helping my son with the engagement ring, he had wanted a custom ring and had been looking for about 6 months. Clater Jewlers came up on my list a few times, but I just assumed, after visiting other custom jewlers, that it would be too expensive, and honestly, the other custom jewlers had been so pretentious, so I just skipped over Clater Jewlers on my list.
However, I was driving by and stopped in on a whim. I met and spoke with Megan. Megan was wonderful and gave me some great examples and ideas.

My wife and I visited them about two months before our wedding day. If you want a break from the cookie-cutter jewelry stores at the mall, look no further than this place. I discovered Clater's when they were located on Breckinridge Lane. I simply cannot say enough good things about them. The ladies here are the nicest, most professional and most helpful people you could ever want to deal with when you walk into a jewelry store (or ANY store, for that matter).
