Our Indoor Classes Require a Vaccination Card to be put on file, or showed on your first visit. We require masks during the check in process, then masks may be removed for practice (for both indoor and outdoor classes.) Thanks to LCPY, I have been able to restore peace and equilibrium during this difficult time of sheltering in place.
With their online classes, I've been able to work on my strength and balance in my lower body on top of finding within the practice, calm moments that I have trouble making for myself. LCPY has become something positive for me and I hope to continue in person when going out is allowed again. I really enjoy visiting this studio, because of the friendly and patient instructors.

Services
My name is Rachel Rajput, and I founded Left Coast Power Yoga in 2013 to bring a challenging, heated Power Yoga studio to the Oakland community. We started in our original small space on Grand Avenue, which we still have open today. At Left Coast, we are a beautiful community of misfits. Our community spans all sizes, shapes, colors, and genders.
We specialize in power yoga practice that will tone and strengthen your body. Each class starts with a warm-up, moves through a sequence of poses, connected by the breath, and finishes with a cool down and Savasana. We additionally offer other yoga styles, including restorative and kundalini yoga to compliment your yoga practice.
What's with the floors? We have found that wooden floors are uncomfortable on the joints of the body, particularly the knees, thus we provide anti-microbial Zebra Mat floors in both of our locations. There is inch of firm cushion under the knees, elbows, etc, plus the thickness of your Yoga Mat at all times.
Left Coast is proud to present our 5th Annual, National Yoga Alliance Certified, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. Yoga Teacher Training is a life-changing opportunity to explore every facet of the Yoga Practice. Our graduated teachers have gone on to teach at local studios, schools, places of work, detention centers, and just about everywhere in between.
Log into your Fitdegree account, and enable email notifications when prompted so you can get your links to class! Set yourself up in a space with strong internet signal, with your personal yoga mat and any props or alternatives you have. You might wish to use bluetooth headphones to hear the teacher's playlist and voice more clearly.

I love everything about this yoga studio - the location is easy to access and parking is not an issue, they offer a wide array of classes at convenient times and the teachers I met so far are engaging, knowledgeable and mostly play great music. Most of all though, I like the welcoming, inclusive, unpretentious atmosphere at Left Coast Yoga. I'm so happy to be able to practice in a studio again and I could not have found a better one.

This is your last stop for yoga! I have been practicing at LCY Grand Lake studio for nearly a decade. The classes, and teachers, are varied in personality and challenge. Yet they share the same embrace of community. I truly feel like I have enjoyed a supportive welcoming community by practicing at LCY. The teachers are also uniformly excellent. Parking is ample and within weeks a adjacent new studio, lounge, smoothie bar and massage studio will be opening!

This is LCPY's first studio in Oakland and, for me, my favorite. There's a fantastic energy in this tight space, and it's run with by friendly staff who are often teachers themselves. The owner attracts some of the strongest teachers in the area, while her commitment to the community is answered by loyalty.

I love Left Coast Power Yoga! This is an inclusive place to grow your practice, and to get stronger physically. But so much more than just your physical body will be strengthened. Very good yoga teachers and students work and play and practice here. Having a wide variety of classes, teachers, and students makes this community especially great!

Great vibes here. Excellent teachers who are generous with their knowledge, create a great experience and seem to genuinely enjoy being part of the studio. Each of them seem to bring their own creativity in a way that feels smooth and refreshing yet not foreign. Why I like that: you will not feel like a yoga robot.
Only thing to watch out for -- not much space up front nor inside. But I like to think that makes the vibe more authentic and less focused on typical yoga studio retail salesy stuff.

The hours and location are ideal. Its amazing how I can look for a class last minute and there is always something readily available. I have consistently been able to show up 1 minute before the class starts and get into the class. The teachers are all good and somehow on the same page with consistency but also unique and thoughtful.
I like the short (1 hour) format so it doesn't take over my whole day.
I dont really like the heat, but I don't notice so much anymore. I think I have a reaction to this studio. when I walk in the door, I start sweating.

I've been to countless studios in Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco and Left Coast easily ranks in my top 2. I love Left Coast!!!!!!! Each teacher I have had the pleasure of taking a class with has been exquisite and unique in their style which makes each experience new and refreshing. Sarah Kate Moore, a former instructor, introduced me to the Left Coast family and I never looked back. The prices are affordable and all of the instructors share the same warmth and tenderness to each individual that walks in the door. I love love love Left Coast and you will too!

I recently moved from Berkeley to Lake Merritt. I was sad to leave my beloved Green Yogi, and relieved to find a studio so close to my home. I've been to five classes and have loved the instruction. The classes are vigorous, but teachers offer modifications so it feels personalized and accessible to multiple levels. The only difficult adjustment for me has been getting used to practicing facing mirrors! The space is narrow and doesn't get a lot of natural light, so they are really necessary, though. Looking forward to continuing my practice here.

Love this studio! I am just beginning my yoga practice and every instructor at Left Coast has been so inclusive to people of all levels. Each class is different while still very comfortable and super manageable. Every time I go, I leave completely stress free and ready for the day. I highly recommend!

I've taken 5-6 classes at Left Coast Power Yoga in the past two months, and each one has been an excellent experience with amazing instructors. The studio is a big small and hot, but I enjoy the feeling of sweating all the toxins out so it doesn't bother me! (I've never taken an actual bikram/hot yoga class - just regular power yoga.) The instructors are kind, funny, and have excellent taste in yoga-appropriate tunes to play. Excited to keep coming back!

I just moved back into the neighborhood recently and after years of playing competitive high impact sports in college (and with a little encouragement from some fellow yogi friends) I decided it was time for a change so I started looking into a couple yoga studios around the area and happened to stumble on the 3 class/25$ deal.
After the first class this week which Claire taught I was hooked. I had a pretty bad shoulder injury that never fully recovered last year, but she really took that into consideration when we were practicing certain poses. I couldn't wait for the next class so I signed

It is hard to overstate how much I love this studio. The space is super clean and airy, with amazing, lightly padded floors. (The floor, with a slight give to it, makes me way braver when it comes to trying an arm balance or inversion!) The teachers each have varied approaches, so every class feels different. However, all of the instructors are gifted at explaining both the basic elements of a pose and the little nuances which can make such a big difference. I seriously look forward to learning from every single one of them, they are all wonderful.

You know how some yoga teachers will say "do whatever feels good for YOUR body" and then they proceed to demo the full expression of a tricky pose right in front of your mat, sighing contentedly as if bending into that twisty pretzel position (that I could not have even achieved when I was a toddler) was the easiest part of their day?
Well, that doesn't happen in Rachel's classes, or Sterling's classes, or Whitney's classes (and those are just the teachers I have experienced there so far). They really mean it when they say "do what feels good for you!"
