When we move well, we live well. Pilates by Mary is on a mission to utilize functional movement to build strong, smart bodies. It's time to stay active and live pain free - to age into a thriving and resilient life. Amazingly challenging, Intense, yet so much fun is how I would describe Mary's style of teaching.

I met Mary through Re-Action Reformer Pilates studio and sought after her classes only. Her classes were super tough, yet so much fun. Mary caters to your needs and listens to what my body is capable of - and pushes me to my limits. I look forward to getting my butt kicked every time. I've been exploring movement and how it deepens my strength & mobility and enhances my body awareness and creative expression since I was a little kid. I started acting professionally at the age of 12 and ever since I can remember, I would need to embody the movement of a character before the words could be delivered.
Whether looking to gain strength and flexibility, recover from injuries, improve posture, or gain an accountability partner, I'll work with you to meet your goals by putting together specialized programming. Pilates is a practice in specificity to optimize functional movement and strengthen the core muscles to support the rest of our joints.

After previously working with Mary in a studio setting pre-pandemic, I reached out to here in month 6 of the covid era, as my body was beginning to scream at me. I've been practices pilates for almost 9 years, and the regular practice has significantly improved various aches and pains from old sports injuries. I appreciate Mary's exacting approach, focused on form and precision, for strengthening muscles and muscle groups that support bones and joints. Best Pilates session I have ever had. Mary was intuitive, a great communicator and knew when to push me. I walked out feeling better and I swear my abs looked flatter.

Mary has been a great addition to my routine! As a coach myself I have a higher standard for the coaches I personally hire and Mary was a winner. After doing my initial evaluation I knew she had a great grasp on the knowledge, how the body moves, and where I needed improvement. From then on the sessions were fun, challenging, with lots of variety. I highly recommend taking a class or working with Mary privately.

Mary's so great! I've started working with Mary pretty recently but I've already learned so much from her. I consider myself a pretty fit person and Mary's workouts HUMBLE me on a regular basis. Every time I see her I learn new things about how much body works and how my daily habits affect how I move.

After working with Mary I leave feeling stronger and more in tune with my body. I take my lessons from Mary with me every day and I'd highly reccomend her to anyone who's looking to move better or feel better in their body!

Mary is an exceptional Pilates Reformer instructor. I have taken reformer classes and private classes with Mary for the past 6 months. She provides a rigorous Pilates workout that is tailored to meet individual needs. Mary emphasizes correct body alignment and breathing strategies designed to support each movement. My body is stronger and my balanced has improved due to Mary's careful attention. A unique aspect of taking a "Mary" class is her graceful movements as she models an exercise. Mary just led a group class at our offices here in Downtown Oakland in partnership with our local gym, Truve, She is awesome - connected, encouraging, delivering a challenging workout with good pacing and flow, and no doubt, we will feel it! Highly recommend!

Mary is a wonderful Pilates Mat and Reformer instructor who offers classes at my fitness studio, Truve. She always checks for any body concerns and will tailor the workout to address your issues. She puts emphasis on correcting body misalignments from the daily activities most of us encounter from life in the 21st century (too much sitting, neck strain from computer overuse). I greatly appreciate that she watches our form and provides helpful corrections to optimize the workout.

Mary is such a great pilates instructor! She makes you feel very comfortable and helps to make sure you are doing the poses correctly. She's very knowledgeable in what she does. She does: pilates mat, pilates reformer, and personal pilates reformer. I always leave feeling much taller and more relaxed.

I've experienced incredible results in a short amount of time. Mary has the perfect disposition to make clients feel comfortable. Working 1 on 1 has been vital to getting my body moving again.

Mary has watched my form with each exercise, making corrections where necessary and has helped to heal past injuries.

All requests and concerns have been top of mind while being consistent and working toward my goals.

I'm able to engage muscles that I haven't used in many years.

Mary is wonderful. She's patient and kind and takes special care to make sure you're doing the exercises correctly. She would videotape the homework assignments so I could make sure I was practicing correctly at home. I wholeheartedly recommend her.

Overdue review. I've been taking Pilates with Mary for about 4 months and she is amazing. I've taken Pilates with other instructors but Mary is exceptionally gifted and has gotten me through multiple injuries, back on track and now getting my muscle tone back. She pays close attention to your position and alignment, comes to know your own strengths and weaknesses (and bad habits) and is always offering a customized suggestion. My favorite part of the experience her pleasant and mellow demeanor, especially in the morning! I look forward to going every time I go and highly recommend.

Mary is wonderful trainer. I take Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer classes from her regularly for the past many months. Mary is knowledgeable, friendly, and well prepared every class. When I get to class, I just follow her clear instructions , get a good workout and feel refreshed. Under Mary's instructions, I have developed better core strength and I feel stronger with toner arms and legs - even my steps up the stairs are effortless now.

So glad I met Mary and began taking her Pilates Mat and Reformer classes at Truve. She is super knowledgeable and passionate about wellness and it comes across in all of her classes. She tailors each class to each individual, whether you are new or intermediate and knows when to push you even further.
