I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and I would love to work with you. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and a minor in Psychology. I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from North Carolina Central University. I spent many years as a teacher and school counselor before deciding to work in private practice.
Anxious thoughts seem to swoop into your mind on a daily basis and seem to have a hold on you no matter what you do to stop them. You are tired of feeling "stuck" and not able to move forward past the difficult events and traumas of your life. Other people don't seem to understand why you can't move on and just "let it go."
Since you are here on my About Me page, I know you are looking for something different. You are looking for a way to find more control over your emotions and be able to open up more about your feelings. You are tired of worrying all the time and what you are doing to cope is not working. You still have that negative voice in your head that constantly criticizes you and you don't know how to quiet it down.
The transition to adulthood can be a struggle when you discover it is not what you thought it would be. There are so many major changes you face in your life such as moving out of your parents house, starting college, and managing finances. Your world has turned upside down since the loss of your loved one. Nothing is the same and you feel lost and alone. You feel so tired and its hard to even get the simplest tasks done. Its hard for you to concentrate and you are not sure how to move on with your life without them. You just want to be alone and reminders of your loved one are everywhere causing you more pain.

As a business owner that has multiple caregivers on staff I know and understand the importance of making sure that there are resources available for them. "Care for the caregiver" is not just a catchy phrase but also very important. I can highly recommend Ms. McDonald and her practice. My company uses her as a resource in order to make sure that any problems both professional and private can be discussed privately and handled appropriately. My staff has gains the tools needed in order continue to maintain a healthy and clutter free mental space. I have worked with and known Chris for approximately

I'm so happy that I found Path to Hope. I love the holistic approach that Chris takes, including the yoga and meditation. I really appreciate having yoga poses and easy meditations that I can use at home to help me with my anxiety. It's been much easier for me to break down my goals into small pieces and actually see progress. Keeping me actively involved and accountable has really made a difference!

Chris is a great counselor! She brings compassion, warmth, and calmness to her client care. Her approach to therapy integrates the traditional with the modern from cognitive behavioral therapy to healing through yoga. She treats the whole person rather than simply the mental health symptoms. The deep expertise Chris has in treating anxiety, in particular, is invaluable when a member of a couple needs some individual support outside of their couples therapy. I recommend her services to anyone who struggles with anxiety.

Chris is warm, caring, wonderfully down to earth and personable. I've been able to attend two of her workshops for incorporating subtle yoga into clinical practice, and another workshop on self care for counselors and she is a great teacher. I would definitely recommend Chris as a therapist and presenter.
