Could not fault this hotel; the rooms are excellent and having the little kitchenette was brilliant. And I have never said this about anywhere we have stayed before the beds are really comfortable. The staff at the San Carlos went that extra mile to make sure you had a great stay, from the reception staff to the cleaners. Centrally located for most attractions, Rockefeller Centre, Central Station etc. Definitely stay here again.

Located in midtown east, 7 min walk from 5th ave, 12 min from central park and time square. Also subway station a block away, as well as a bus stop. The hotel is not big but cozy with wonderful staff.
The room I had was very big and specious with comfy king size bed, microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker! That was great. Since I was on 2nd floor, the view was of other buildings stairs, but didn't care much. Steady wifi, though you have to log in every day, nice gym, and kind accommodating staff. You can also check in/ out early/ late for extra money.
Second floor also has a sitting area with

I specifically booked adjoining rooms through the hotel because i was traveling with children and the rooms needed to be connected. I was assured i had booked adjoining rooms. When i checked in, was told this is not something i could book. They saw that i requested this, but they could not honor the request per the manager. He said that whoever wrote the note that i wanted adjoining rooms did not leave a name, so they did not have to honor the promise. The clerk at check in was pointing to a computer screen and the manager said, no. I'm not going to do that. They can't have that. It was clear she

This was our first time staying off Times Square, what a gem this hotel is. Prices are reasonable, service is great, rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a suite with a kitchenette. Windows face 50th so you get a little view of the happenings. It’s not very busy on the street so you can leave your window open and get the fresh night air in your room without it being too loud. Across the street is an incredible Steak House with a lovely history of being an old opera house. It’s big enough we got in without a reservation. Around the corner is Toscana 49 and there is a perfect breakfast cafe

We recently stayed for a week. Spacious and comfortable king room, which featured a microwave, refrigerator, etc. Great location and nice staff. There is a restaurant downstairs (did not try), but it does not serve breakfast until 11 am. There are plenty of other good food options nearby, including Ess-a bagels. Reasonably priced, especially given large sized room (for NY), location, etc.

Our recent stay at the San Carlos was great! The hotel is nicely decorated and very clean. Our room was spacious, had a refrigerator and a very comfortable king size bed. Service was very courteous and prompt from start to finish. Overnight parking is available at a garage a few blocks away and the hotel will validate your ticket. The cost was $35.00 which is excellent!!
The hotel is in a great location as well. We would be happy to return on our next visit!

Out in the city celebrating a birthday. The room was nice. The 5 of us fit comfortably. I took the couch and the extra blankets they brought up was just what I needed.

My new favorite hotel in NYC! The location is perfect- the neighborhood is clean and quiet, near the subway, surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, and a Duane Reade and a small grocery store nearby. Our room was SO clean with daily housekeeping and I was pleasantly surprised by the size- much larger than most hotel rooms in the city. The decor is old school but I found it charming. It had everything we needed! Desk, reading chair, mini fridge and microwave, iron, robes, extra linens and towels. The staff and service at San Carlos was ten stars from the front desk to the door man, everyone was

My sister and I stayed here for 5 days, 4 nights in early March and the rooms were much bigger than we anticipated. We had a small kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, cups, wine glasses, plates, cutlery, etc.). Very pleasantly surprised by the amenities and how nice staff were. My sister and I arrived 6 hours prior to check-in and the front desk personnel (I'm sorry I forgot your name!) had no issues accommodating us. Be warned that we were charged an extra $100 for super early check-in but we didn't care because we wanted to take a nap after getting off a red-eye flight.

My friends and I were in NYC for Christmas and researched hotels in the Midtown area before finding the San Carlos and quickly booking it for its room availability and value during the Christmas season.
Before arrival, the San Carlos was more then happy to answer my questions over the phone and provided me with information on check-in, payment and reservation confirmation.
We arrived earlier then planned the day of our trip and decided to call the San Carlos around 12:30 pm to see if any rooms were available for check-in (before their customary 3:00 pm check-in time). I was informed by Maria

Super nice hotel. The employees are very nice and helpful. The rooms are quiet, clean, and updated. The location is close to many sights and yet still quiet. After a long day running around, it was like home. Will come back.

Pretty terrible. WiFi and cable did not work for 2 out of 3 of my days here and all they offered was to waive the "facility fee" for those days, which is a joke considering there are no amenities at this hotel. Barely any windows in the rooms. Do yourself a favor and stay across the street at the Kimberly.

I enjoy extensively researching my destination before traveling and chose The San Carlos Hotel because reviews told me it was located by a subway station in a safe, walkable neighborhood with excellent staff. I also liked that they had suites available at a reasonable price point--allowing our family of four to have ample room. The San Carlos Hotel was all this and more! My husband, who travels for work often, told me we must stay here again the next time we are in NYC. This is high praise coming from him! When we entered through the doors of the hotel each evening after a long day of sightseeing

Had a absolutely wonderful stay. We were here for 4 nights. Hotel room was so spacious it was like a little mini home while we were there. Hotel is located in a great spot. A short walk to the subway but also so many places that are a walking distance. Hotel staff are all so friendly and helpful. Andy at the door has many great suggestions of things to see and do in New York. We will be back for sure.

This place is a hidden gem. Great location. Staff is friendly and professional. Second time staying and room was very comfortable. The rooms are well maintained and clean which is huge due to working in hotels. Parking options pretty decent. I hope they don't change what is working good for them. I will be coming back

Pleasantly surprised with this quaint hotel. Walked into an elegant lobby. The hotel staff is very welcoming, professional, and courteous. The room was spacious which is not is easy to find in NYC and also very comfortable. A bonus was also the fridge. I normally don't sleep very well in hotels, but slept as well as I do at home! For me, a really good bed and quality bedding are important. They didn't skimp on the Aveda toiletries. Overall, I will definitely stay here again!!
