We went here for a birthday celebration and unfortunately it was mediocre and not worth the prices. The food was served warm but not hot and the temperature was wrong on the filets with them being over cooked. One person ordered the ribeye and it had more fat that meat. Of all the food we ate in our party the best things were the bread and butter and the grits which says alot. The food was ok but the steaks especially were dissapointing for the price point especially when compared to other area restaurants. The two martinis I had were delicious. I ordered cheesecake for dessert to go and I was

I didn't realize this was a seafood place until I got there, so if you're allergic (like me) - research first. I ended up with a salad since most of the menu was seafood. Everyone loved their food. However, our server wasn't very forthcoming with her "lunch" suggestion, and I felt a bit swindled when our bill came - but these are hard times, I suppose.

Tried it for the first time this evening and everything was a complete disappointment. Caesar salad dressing is just straight mayonnaise. Spinach artichoke dip which is usually easy to make good even at cheap… restaurants was flavorless. The shrimp that was in both the salad and lettuce wraps tasted like it wasn’t fresh and was just boiled not even grilled. The crab cake looked like a big McDonalds chicken nugget. Strange texture and bland flavor. I’m not one to usually review restaurants and companies but it was just so bad.

French Market Bistro is nestled in the rear of the shopping center located off Highland Rd in Baton Rouge.
We received a gift certificate from our Realtor Mary Birch at Team Smith Realty.
We decided on Saturday lunch then called for a reservation. We were informed that the reservation link on their website is no longer valid. Just call them for the reservation.
When we arrived parking was easy to find but we were early lunch and when we left the parking lot was filling up.
We were seated immediately and served water as soon as we were settled in. Our server was Alissa. She came along with menus

All it takes is one little thing to ruin a perfectly excellent experience. French Market Bistro has great food, and excellent service. My gripe is with the restaurants owners and their processes. I had a modest bill, $36, and I was quite happy with both the meal and the service. However when my bill came back the tip section had been filled in by restaurant staff. The manager said that was because the tip was included in the service and that that was stated on the menu. Ok, fine. I don't remember seeing this on the menu. However, if the gratuity is included with the service then it should be a

Incredible flavor in everything from the cocktails to the scallops. Things to get: the chargrilled oysters, the crabmeat cannelloni, the lamb chops, the scallops, **THE BREAD PUDDING**. I have been on a quest for the best bread pudding in existence for most of my life. French market bistro takes the cake at this point (with City Pork, and the magnolia room coming in 2nd and 3rd). The Louisiana lust dessert was also really good.
