Writing to Heal is a safe, deeply nourishing class to explore, learn, gain insight, be supported and enjoy accessing one's creativity in the process. This workshop taught me that with just a bit of insight, there was a wealth of knowledge about myself, and the ability to learn to heal myself was right there, under the surface, waiting to be released.

My passion is helping people with illness heal and lead more empowered lives. This is hard to do on your own. I know the journey through illness well, having developed Crohn's disease after my medical training. During that time, I found myself suddenly challenged by compromised energy and stamina, and by the uncertainty of meeting personal and professional expectations.
Individual sessions usually take place on a weekly basis and last an hour. My style is conversational and interactive. I am interested in learning about your past and present struggles, while keeping track of what matters to you. I am focused on helping you live your life in the best way possible, and on helping your body heal.
I feel blessed to have found Abby when I did. With her guidance, I was able to sort through issues that were taking a toll on my health, and I emerged with a new, healthy perspective, and a better understanding of myself and the world around me. Abby's calm and caring nature and her understanding of Crohn's disease and its implications made her the perfect mind and body counselor for me.
Dr. Caplin is an amazing resource for anyone with a medical condition or illness. Her expertise in mind-body medicine, combining degrees in both medicine and counseling psychology, is rare and valuable. She helps patients harness their own healing capacities. I feel very good about referring to Abby and would send my own family members to her.

Abby is wonderful. I have seen her once, and it made a big difference in my life. She is gentle but concise.
I am a Physical Therapist and I have sent patients to Abby before. They have greatly benefited from her care. She is truly one of a kind medical doctor and really listens to you and she understands what you are going through. I can highly recommend her.

As a family physician it is wonderful to know that Abby is available to see my patients struggling with chronic illness. She provides people with practical tools that they can use to help them cope physically and mentally. Every patient that I have referred to her has told me that they found the time that they spent with Abby to be valuable. Her patients are truly fortunate, as in addition to being a therapeutic presence and helpful guide, she is an advocate for their total health.
