I appreciate the service Dr. Landy and his staff members have provided to me over the years. My teeth look great and I really appreciate getting service from this team! Dr. Landy is great. He always explains things is a very clear and straight forward manner and has a great job of getting me back on track after a couple years of less than stellar mouth care.
Finding a dentist you can trust and feel comfortable with is very important. It is vital to your oral health to participate in regular cleanings and dental exams to make sure your teeth are healthy, and it can be easier to make an appointment when you know your dentist isn't going to bite. If you live in the Northwest Washington, D.C. area, there's no better dentist than Michael G. Landy DDS.

My daughter got her Invisalign here and I paid off the balance. She had to pick up her trays fall of 2020 and we are getting bills for picking up the trays. We have emailed them 3x now to remove the bill since she had NO service there except to pick up the trays. We are still fighting this. We intend to report them to BBB and DC authorities.
Watchout for the crazy billing woman and review every bill. I almost didn't catch it.

I used to love coming here but after a number of my past dentists continued to leave Dr. Landy's practice I should've known something was off. I haven't been to Dr. Landy's for any service since before COVID-19. However, they continuously send me charges of over $500 even after more than a year of no service. I've emailed them as to why I was being charged these amounts and they ignore and don't respond. I've had instances in the past where Dr. Landy has charged us differently to what he's quoted me or charged me extra for things. However, after my Invisalign treatment through him he's been continuously

Dr. Garg and Angie are incredible! This was by far the best experience that I have ever had at the dentist. I went in with extreme pain and extreme anxiousness (I have always hated going to the dentist). Dr. Garg and Angie were very friendly, and most importantly patient and paid attention to my every need. Each visit I became more comfortable and relaxed, and by the third one we were talking as friends. They are wonderful and I cannot recommend them enough, especially if you have anxiety about going to the dentist. Thank you, Dr. Garg and Angie!

Beware they charged a Covid fee.
I had a routine check-up and cleaning on Sept 1st. Upon leaving I was given a bill of $181, of which $46 was Covid fee. I paid the bill and left. I contacted my insurance and asked them, the insurance stated I was "overcharged"for the Covid fee and I should be credited back. Dr. Landy does tried to up sale. Plus the cleaning didn't feel clean so I went to a different dentist and got my teeth cleaned again a month later.

I’ve been going to Dr. Landy’s practice for over a decade, but Dr. Landy has been my dentist only for the past 5-6 years. I get anxious going to the dentist, but everyone here helps put me at ease, especially Angie. I’ve always had a good experience when visiting and I know I get a thorough dental check-up & cleaning every time. Dr. Landy recommended I get Invisalign a few years ago. I’m glad I did! I also appreciate all the extra safety precautions they take as result of Covid. Thank you!

I went to three appointments over a couple years at Dr. Landy's office because of the convenient location and he was in network for my insurance. Everyone was nice enough, but I felt every time like I was being upsold into agreeing to extra services or tools that cost additional money, often without warning about the price. I learned to just say no, but it was frustrating since I want to be able to trust my dentist as a specialist. On top of that, the cleanings were always painful in a way I have never experienced from any prior dental cleanings, and I'm the kind of person who has gone

I would not recommend this practice. I went in with a specific concern that was quickly dismissed by Dr. Landy. I have since seen other providers and an oral surgeon who have confirmed that my initial concern was valid. In fact, it is causing more problems and will require a more intensive treatment because (per Dr. Landy's recommendation), it was not addressed at the outset. The other practitioners I saw were shocked when I told them what Dr. Landy said because it is a pretty basic issue that most dentists should be able to identify.
Instead of listening to my concern, I felt that Dr. Landy

I'll start off by saying that the receptionists are fantastic and are the only great parts of this business. A couple of the dentist's assistants seem to be in training, which was fine for me but worth mentioning. I was visiting for endodontist work and Dr. Landy seemed right on par in terms of the treatment I needed for that specialized work. However, my sister came with me and got a cleaning. She said he used a power tool to clean her teeth which took about five minutes and she said it was the worst/fastest cleaning she ever had. The tool made her gums bleed and she is switching dentists

Service was courteous however Dr. Landy exhibited typical doctor-power-differential and did not clearly explain the work my teeth needed - I left each visit unsure what had happened though I did ask questions. Upon waiting the allotted time with a temporary crown he placed, I returned promptly when told to and was informed he was on vacation for a few weeks. This was a surprise and the temporary was wearing down. I had to argue with the receptionist and finally pay out of pocket to receive the permanent crown in my hand, which I then took to another dentist - paying again to have it placed. I give

Expensive and filling needed to be re-done 6 months later after it was improperly placed/did not cover my full too. I am now, a year later, having to get a crown, due to tooth decay.
He also told me that a couple of fillings were included in the overall cost, but he never filled them and charged me the same. It's still very unclear as to why (though I have tried to call/email him about it multiple times as well as get a refund for my improperly placed filling).

Warning: extremely bad experience. It was so bad I had to leave in the middle of having a crown put in despite having paid for everything already (including work he hadn't done). He charges for things my insurance (Aetna) said were not supposed to be charged. My family has been overcharged by his office for years, we've discovered, while seeing his associate Dr. Spivak. Dr. Spivak left (with no notice to us). I didn't check Yelp until I was in the middle of the horrible experience with Dr. Landy. I went to another dentist and am having a good experience. I would avoid him at all costs. He wanted to perform highly invasive and costly work on my teeth after examining me for less than a minute. I said I would think it over and subsequently got 2 other second opinions from highly recommended dentists who both were shocked by Dr Landy's assessment. In addition, his staff is extremely rude and dealing with the bill was a huge headache as they kept trying to charge me for work that was not done.

**Updated after I realized Landy responded to my review. This guy is the Trump of dentists, and Yelp is his Twitter.***
If you read my review and his response, you will see that his addressed none of my criticism. He speaks in pure generalities, as if this were some canned response to any critical review. Also, notice how he does not address anything about his terrible billing practices, his pushing of expensive devices, and his "re-diagnosis via mail" without ever seeing me again. All very interesting. Lastly, in pure Trump-like fashion, he tries to push back against me asserting I

I am just going to echo what other reviews already say. Landy is the worst dentist I have ever been to and he pushes necessary products and procedures. He is also horrible about just doing procedures that are not covered by insurance without obtaining any consent from the patient. The two times I went to him for a basic cleaning (and I was explicit that I only wanted the basic cleaning that was covered by my insurance) I was handed bills upon walking out for deep cleaning procedures and fluoride treatments that were presented to me as part of the basic cleaning.

I am more than happy to give Dr. Landy and his entire staff the highest rating possible. I have always had an excellent experience with the care, advice and results for all of my dental work.over many years. I have referred many friends to him for dental care because of the high level of care that he and his staff provide. He always provides a detailed explanation of my condition and how he proposed to treat that problem. Choices about alternate procedures and options are always provided if available. My wife has had the same high level of experiences and echoes my high rating. From simple cleanings

Dr. Michael Landy has been my dentist since 2001. He is responsible for my smile and is one of the best dentist in the world! He is not only a professional but explains procedures in layman's terms, and he uses techniques (i.e., applying pressure to the lip or cheek) to distract you from pain (that novacaine needle is huge). He is quite and mild-mannered but most importantly he puts patients first! And the Dental Hygienist that work for him are kind, friendly, and skilled (give them a raise or a Holiday Bonus). You rock Dr. Landy!

Dr. Landy is a product pusher: you go in, he examines your teeth, and recommends you purchase an expensive medical device (in my case a mouth guard for "bruxism").
His staff are quite rude and unprofessional.
I called in for a teeth cleaning (my third visit to his practice). They had me come in for my appointment, made me wait for an hour, then informed me Dr. Landy could not see me because they couldn't verify my dental insurance with CareFirst. When I called CareFirst, they said Dr. Landy's office NEVER contacted them. When I emailed Dr. Landy, he never bothered to respond

Honestly the WORST dentist I've ever been to. Borderline assaulted me when I told him I wasn't going to consider an additional (expensive, not covered) procedure and forced my mouth open to "show me" the problem areas. I said no! NO MEANS NO!
Like other reviewers, I went because he took my DMO but I've had trouble with the work he did ever since and regret everything about it. Buyer beware!

I haven't even been to the office and already I'm getting a bad impression. Especially after reading the review. I called the office to schedule an appointment because this is the office that takes my insurance. The woman on the other end of the phone is asking me for information but she has a really nasty attitude about it. I said to her, calmly, "you don't have to have an attitude with me." Do you know this unprofessional piece of work hung up the phone? Thankfully when I called back, someone else answered the phone. My mother also called the office a while back and had

I wanted to report back that I've finally decided to leave this place. I came here for a cleaning in October and was told everything was fine - which I kind of doubted since they failed to take x-rays and since I'd had so many dental problems the previous two years under his care. I asked again about x-rays and a thorough exam, and they insisted everything was fine.
Two months later, one of my molars BROKE IN HALF on a bit of pasta that was uncooked. I went in to see Dr. Spivek just to have him tell me I would need a root canal and crown, but that I'd have to come back in like

I give three stars (A-OK) because Dr. Landy has taken really good care of my teeth for over ten years -- including necessary caps.
However, he does product push and it is annoying. I bought the night guard during an impulsive moment and never used it. That was a mistake and a direct result of his "hard sell" attitude.
The point is: He's a great dentist. He'll take good care of your teeth. But, as a drawback, you have to put up with the hard sell, make the effort of ignoring it (deciding for yourself what's a "sell" and what's really necessary)
